English Translation:
The Story of the Man and the Snake 1. One day a man wanted to cross the river. He saw a snake near
the river. He asked the snake, “What are you doing here?”
2. The snake replied, “I want to cross the river.”
The man said, “Climb on my neck.”
3. The snake climbed onto the man’s neck and the man crossed the river.
4. Later the man told the snake to get off of his neck but the snake refused.
5. The snake said, “I will bite you!” The man said let us go and ask the rabbit.”
6. The rabbit asked, “What is your problem?” The man answered, “I carried the snake across the river and now he will not get off of my neck.”
7. The rabbit said, “I am sorry but I can not help you. Go ask the ape!”
8. The ape asked, “What is your problem? ”The man answered, “I carried the snake across the river and now he will not get off my neck.”
9. The ape said, “Start from the beginning. What were you doing?”
10. Then the snake came down from the man’s neck. Immediately, the ape said to the man, “Pick up a stick while the snake is on the ground.”
11. Finally, the man hit the snake and it died.
