SPEAKERS:SPEAKERS:SPEAKERS:SPEAKERS:
Dr. Holger Schütt, CEO of ISL Applications GmbH (Bremerhaven, Germany)
Holger Schuett is the CEO of ISL Applications GmbH. He is working in the field of simulation as well as in the
branch of container terminals for some 25 years. Starting within the IT of HHLA, the biggest terminal operator
in Hamburg, he was responsible for the simulation based consultancy of the fully automated Container
Terminal Hamburg Altenwerder. After CTA’s going live in 2002 he joined ISL to combine ISL’s research based
simulation products with his knowledge from the practice. The flagship of these CHESSCON modules is the
so called “Virtual Terminal” software. It supports terminal operators to fine-tune their control software (TOS)
and generates new types of training methods. In 2010 Holger additionally took over a professorship at the
University of Applied Sciences in Bremerhaven for Integrated Safety and Security Management.
Prof. Dr. Burkhard Lemper, Institute for Shipping Economics & Logistics (Bremen, Germany)
Prof. Dr. Burkhard Lemper is Director and Head of the Maritime Economics and Transport Department at
the Institute of Shipping Economics and Logistics (ISL), Bremen, Germany, and honorary professor at Bremen
University of Applied Sciences. He has managed a wide variety of projects for individual clients in the
maritime industry, especially for port authorities, ship yards and shipping companies. He has worked on
studies for the German Ministries of Transport as well as of Research and Technology, dealing with
developments in the European and world wide transport markets, especially container transport, port
development projects and feasibility studies including cost benefit analyses. He has written and published
especially on maritime sector issues. Other important aspects of his research are cargo flow and market
analysis, simulation of cargo flows and transport modeling.
