The Get Invigorated VII was organized on 16th October 2015 on the topic “Capital Markets and Economic Reforms” in the Elite Hall. Mr. Mahesh P L, Asst Vice President & Branch Head Axis Bank, Saibaba Colony branch, Coimbatore and his team elaborated on the importance of capital markets, its functioning, the various roles in Indian economy and the impact of reforms on the capital markets.

Sankara Institute of Management Science organized the Get Invigorated I for the even semester, when Mr. P.R.Natarajan, Retd TNEB Engineer, spoke on “Attitude Determines Altitude” on 08.01.2016 (Friday) in the Elite Hall. The interactive session was facilitated through motivational videos of Martin Luther King, Mahatma Gandhi, Sachin Tendulkar and like to imbibe positive attitude among the students. Mr. Natarajan highlighted the significance of attitude by quoting that one should love what you do.

INDUSTRIAL VISITSThe students of I MBA were taken to an IV to Autoprint Technologies on 09.10.2015 in Kanuvai, CBE. The students learnt the process of DTP printing with its various processes. The IV was coordinated by Prof. K. Balakrishnan and Dr. S. Gowri.

RELEASESRelease of Sankara International Journal of Management Issue 2. Vol 1. The second issue of the Management journal of SIMS, Sankara International Journal of Management was released on 28th October 2015, by the renowned Social Entrepreneur Mr. Arunachalam Muruganantham, CEO, Jayshree Industries, Coimbatore.

The second issue of Sankara Express the creative in-house journal of SIMS was released on December 7th 2015 by our Deputy Joint Secretary Miss. Nithya Ramachandran. Prof. K. Balakrishnan was the editor and Prof. K. Thirugnana Sambanthan was the designer of the journal.

One of the promising B-Schools of Coimbatore City, Sankara Institute of Management Science here on Thursday 15th October 2015 organized an inter-college national business quiz entitled “SIMS QBiZ 2015 in association with Eidos Inc; one of the leading training institutes. The quiz saw registrations from over 45 educational institutions across South India, with an overwhelming response of 200 teams composed of 130 UG teams and 70 PG teams for this mega event. The quiz master Prof. Rangarajan; credited with more than 1000 quizzes anchored the show with high zeal throughout the day by conducting separate quiz for the undergraduate students and the post graduate students. Mr. Jis Sebastian and Mr. Feny Joy from The Cochin Law College were the winners of the UG category who bagged a certificate and cash prize of Rs. 10000 sponsored by Eidos, the event partner. The runner up team was Mr. Fazal Basheer and Mr. Thomas Mathews from MA College of Engineering, Kothamangalam. The Winner of the SIMS QBiZ 2015 – PG was Mr. Gowtham B & Damin Rokas Kisban. C who bagged the cash prize of Rs. 10000 and the students from Sardar Vallabhai Patel Institute of Textiles Management, Coimbatore were the runner up, who bagged the

The final year MBA students of SIMS Miss Juliee, Miss Princy K. Joy, Miss Shilpa, Mr. Gibi George, Mr. Sajan K. Viswanath and Mr. Dipin participated actively in the debate session organized by The Indian Express on the theme “Sahitya Academy Awards” the returning by leaders at the Indian Express Office, Coimbatore on 17.10.2015. The students of SIMS from I MBA Mr. Hardik, Miss. Priya Johnson, Mr. Ashiq and Mr. Titus Jose actively participated in the debate and discussion organized on “Moving towards corruption free India” by the Coimbatore EPFO office and the enforcement Directorate on 29.10.2015 at the Dhanam Hall in conjunction with the students of SANSAC. The students received a cash prize of Rs. 500 each.

Indian Express on December 3rd 2015 interviewed our I MBA students on the topic “Is Coimbatore ready for facing floods similar to Chennai”. I MBA students Mr. Hardik, Miss Sandhya, Mr. Dhivagar, Mr. Vijayshanth, Mr. Santhosh and Mr. Rojan Prakash expressed their view on Coimbatore city’s readiness for facing natural disasters and the same was published on December 5th 2015 issue of Indian Express.

I MBA Students Miss Amudha and Mr. Hardik participated in the Kovai Shopping Festival organized by CODISSIA from Dec 31st 2015 to 3rd Jan 2016.

The students of SIMS participated in the talk show by The Indian Express in the city on 28.1.2016 when they discussed on “Why a film personality deserves a Padma Award”. Miss. Priya Johnson ,Miss. Gnana Sowndarya, Mr .S. Daniel, Mr. Shankar and Miss. Dharani expressed their views on the topic with high zeal and note.

I MBA students Miss. Priya Johnson and Mr. Vijayshanth have won 1st Prize in the business quiz event organised by The Coimbatore Productivity Council on 16th February, 2016. Ms. Priya Johnson also participated in the presentation contest. The events were organised as part of the National Productivity Week celebrations organised by The Coimbatore Productivity Council during 12th-18th February, 2016

Sankara Institute of Management Science organized a speech contest for its I MBA students on 30th October 2015 in the Elite Hall. The best fluent speaker Mr. Anoop V.K of I MBA was awarded with Rs.2,999 worth bag and a certificate. Prof. D. Nithya coordinated the event.

A contest to showcase the photography skills was organized at SIMS through its official facebook page SIMS. The photography contest was an online event, that gave opportunity to all the faculty and students of Sankara Educational Institutions to show case their photography skills. The winner of the contest was Mr. Raj Fazeer of I MBA, for his creative and outstanding photography, who bagged a watch worth Rs. 2000. This was coordinated by Prof. K. Thirugnana Sambanthan and Prof. S. Shiny.

Fun activity – Diwali Dhamaka - SIMS organized the fun event of November for students on 5/11/2015 in the Elite Hall at 2.00 p.m. The students were given the theme “Thrash the Dark” where they were asked to light a candle and brief of a bad quality that they would like to let go this Diwali. The students actively participated in the event and said they would like let go of habits like “excessive eating”, “sleeping”, “talking too much”, “gossiping”, wearing neat pants, bunking classes, shouting at parents, reducing anger, driving bike rashly, playing mobile games, chatting in whattsapp and making fun of others. The students also performed song, dance, mimicry with the diwali and rock songs that entertained the gathering. The event concluded with a Happy and Safe Diwali Wish by Prof. L. Gandhi, Head of the Department.

The stress buster event for month of December was organized by Prof. K. Thirugnana Sambanthan on December 2nd 2015 on the topic “Lateral thinking and out of the box thinking”. Students were given problems based on reasoning and creative thinking skills were tested.

Sankara Institute of Management Science organized the National Youth Day in the Elite hall of SIMS block, as a mark of respect to Swami Vivekananda on Jan 12th 2016. The students were motivated to express their views on Swami Vivekananda through essay writing and pictorial presentation competition on the life and teachings of Swami Vivekananda. Additionally, a business quiz competition was organized for the MBA students. Many students actively participated in the various events with high zeal. The highlight of the day was when Mr. Prashanth. R. Tamil Movie Reviewer addressed the students on the power of youth and motivated to “Arise, Awake and Stop not till the goal is reached”. SIMS observed International Dhoti day on 6th January 2016 with the inclination to imbibe the rich tradi-tion of India among the young budding managers of SIMS and the gent faculty. The idea of wearing the traditional attire of India was well received by the students and the faculty as they came robed in the dhoti that enriched the atmosphere with cultural air. The students opined that this event motivated them to stay tuned to preserve the traditional culture of India while working and thinking globally. Dr. S. Gowri appreciated the students and gent faculty for this endeavour that created awareness to preserve the

COOKERY SHOWSankara Institute of Management Science in collaboration with Department of Catering Science and Hotel Management, San-kara College of Science and Commerce organized a cookery show titled “Sankara’s Kitchen Cast” on 20.1.2016. Seven teams of students from Department of Catering and MBA grouped and brainstormed on innovative cooking ideas and set up stalls with themes as Namma Samayal, KFC, Chinese Treasure, Jatpata Chat, Snack Street and Biriyani Corner. Smt. Sandhya Ramachandran, Secretary, Sankara Educational Institutions (SEI) and Miss. Nithya Ramachandran, Deputy Joint Secretary, SEI along with Principal Dr. H. Balakrishnan and Dr. S. Gowri, Head of SIMS inaugurated the stalls and congratulated the endeavour of the students. Mr. Bernard Edward, Vice Principal of SANSAC appreciated the efforts of the students on the collabora-tive work. The winning team of the show was Team Biriyani Cafe and the runner up team was Golden Dragon. The Gol Gappa Stall with chat items was the most popularly visited stall of the day. Prof. Radhika. Sankara Institute of Management Science organized a speech contest for its I MBA students on 30th October 2015 in the Elite Hall. The best fluent speaker Mr. Anoop V.K of I MBA was awarded with Rs.2,999 worth bag and a certificate. Prof. D. Nithya coordinated the event.

A contest to showcase the photography skills was organized at SIMS through its official facebook page SIMS. The photography contest was an online event, that gave opportunity to all the faculty and students of Sankara Educational Institutions to show case their photography skills. The winner of the contest was Mr. Raj Fazeer of I MBA, for his creative and outstanding photography, who bagged a watch worth Rs. 2000. This was coordinated by Prof. K. Thirugnana Sambanthan and Prof. S. Shiny.

Fun activity – Diwali Dhamaka - SIMS organized the fun event of November for students on 5/11/2015 in the Elite Hall at 2.00 p.m. The students were given the theme “Thrash the Dark” where they were asked to light a candle and brief of a bad quality that they would like to let go this Diwali. The students actively participated in the event and said they would like let go of habits like “excessive eating”, “sleeping”, “talking too much”, “gossiping”, wearing neat pants, bunking classes, shouting at parents, reducing anger, driving bike rashly, playing mobile games, chatting in whattsapp and making fun of others. The students also performed song, dance, mimicry with the diwali and rock songs that entertained the gathering. The event concluded with a Happy and Safe Diwali Wish by Prof. L. Gandhi, Head of the Department.

The stress buster event for month of December was organized by Prof. K. Thirugnana Sambanthan on December 2nd 2015 on the topic “Lateral thinking and out of the box thinking”. Students were given problems based on reasoning and creative thinking skills were tested.

Sankara Institute of Management Science organized the National Youth Day in the Elite hall of SIMS block, as a mark of respect to Swami Vivekananda on Jan 12th 2016. The students were motivated to express their views on Swami Vivekananda through essay writing and pictorial presentation competition on the life and teachings of Swami Vivekananda. Additionally, a business quiz competition was organized for the MBA students. Many students actively participated in the various events with high zeal. Christmas day was observed on 18.12.2015 when Joint Secretary Smt. Sandhya Ramachandran cut the Christmas cake. DONATION DAY As an act of generosity and care for the thousand people who starve for basic food, cloting and shelter in and around Coimbatore city, Sankara Educational Institutions observed Donation Day on 16/11/2015. Donation day had a good acceptance and start this year when students, staff and management were asked donate their old clothes, accesso-ries, shoes, note books, stationery items and similar things that could be used by the less privileged people. All items received generously were donated to a reputed orphanage by the management in the city of Coimbatore. This act is an attempt to inculcate the noble thought of “giving for wellbeing of our fellow men” and “caring for the society” among the students. The event was coordinated by Prof. K. Thirugnana Sambanthan of SIMS.

NAYA 2K16 provided a platform for students to exhibit their skills and display their co-ordination as a team through the plethora of events sketched by the organizers. The event also attracted corporate houses in and around Coimbatore as Sponsors and event partners, like the Aashaa Metallurgical

All the events simultaneously commenced at various venues in the SANSAC and SIMS block. Veteran experts in various fields were invited as judges and the best participations were awarded

Sankara Institute of Management Science (SIMS), Coimbatore organized an interactive seminar on “short manage-ment lessons” by Mr. Subodh Sangle and the “Mukkadham” (group leader) – Mr. Narayanji, a representative of the Dabbawalahs who were in the city on 13.2.2016. The demonstration by the Dabbawalahs left the audience awe struck when they knew that the entire process does not involve the usage of any technology. Mr. Sangle and the mukkadham explained their flow of operations right from collection of the lunch boxes (dabbas) to sorting them, uploading them into the trains, downloading them from the trains at various stations and finally sorting again and distributing without errors to various destinations. The best part of lesson was the illustration of the unique coding system that ensured the minimisation of errors. The short management lesson was a life time message carried by both students and the corporate executives. Shri. T. P. Release of Sankara International Journal of Management Issue 2. Vol 1. The second issue of the management journal of SIMS, Sankara International Journal of Management was released on 28th October 2015, by the renowned Social Entrepreneur Mr. Arunachalam Muruganantham, CEO, Jayshree Industries, Coimbatore. The second issue of Sankara Express the creative in-house journal of SIMS was released on December 7th 2015 by our Deputy Joint Secretary Madam Miss. Nithya Ramachandran. Prof. K. Balakrishnan was the editor and Prof. K. Thirugnana Sambanthan was the designer of the journal.

Sankara Institute of Management Science (SIMS), Coimbatore organized an interactive seminar on “short manage-ment lessons” by Mr. Subodh Sangle and the “Mukkadham” (group leader) – Mr. Narayanji, a representative of the Dabbawalahs who were in the city on 13.2.2016. The demonstration by the Dabbawalahs left the audience awe struck when they knew that the entire process does not involve the usage of any technology.
