release• The first Sims was released February 2000. and originally created by maxis• instead of reaching retail shelves on February 20, as originally planned,

publisher EA delayed the game until June the 2nd 2009 when it was released on the Windows PC platform.

• It was released on DVD for Microsoft Windows and for Macintosh, using cider emulation, on June 2, 2009 in North America, on June 4, 2009 in Australia and on June 5, 2009 in Europe.

• The Sims 3: World Adventures has also been released on November 17, 2009.

• Electronic Arts first announced Sims 3 on March 19, 2008. The game was developed at their studio in Redwood Shores, California.

How well did it sell?• Sims 3 had sold over 4.5 million on the PC and Mac, making it

the top PC game of 2009.• The Sims 3 proved to be an instant success, selling 1.4 million

copies in its first week and dominating the sales charts over a month later.

Marketing• Real life famous people singing songs in simlish language such

as pixii lott and Nelly Furtado.

marketing• In the seventh expansion pack for The Sims 2, an event

occurs in which a Sim-version of Rod Humble, the head of The Sims franchise, gives the player's Sim family an unopened gift box. When opened, the family gets a computer with The Sims 3 on it. The Sims 3 game cannot be bought in the catalog.

• On March 23, 2009, the look and feel of The Sims 3 was seamlessly threaded throughout the storyline of an episode of The CW series One Tree Hill. On screen, the episode opens in an idealized Sims version of One Tree Hill and then transitions into the real Tree Hill.

What can the consumer play the game on?

• The game is both pc and mac compatible so you dont have to worry about looking for a pc version or mac version

• Today, EA officially announced that the Sims 3 will ship for the DS, Wii, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 this spring. Published under the EA Play label, the game will sport many of the same customization and character creation options as the PC edition of the game, as well as some new features.

• The PS3 and 360 editions of the game will also feature an online exchange system where players can share content they've created with others. The two versions will feature online integration with Facebook as well, allowing them to broadcast their achievements and trophies on the social networking service.
