School’s heritage: Athletics has been an integral part of the school sports discipline since the very beginning. Besides the immense talent and coaching facilities, the vast open spaces of the school playground provide the right ambience for athletic surfaces - a rarity in the crowded city of Mumbai. Presently the Recreation Centre on the campus promotes athletics. It engages stu- dents from the school, besides extending its facilities to the interested budding ath- letes of other schools of the city. Training in athletics - that begin from the grass roots level - has the added advantage for a child who wishes to pursue other sports associated with the rigors of athletic dis- cipline viz. football, athletics, hockey, bas- ketball, tennis… Laurels in athletics come by the dozen. Our school has earned the title of Bombay City District Athletics Association (BCDA) five times over the last 17 years, thanks to the abounding talent and the astute coach- ing of Mr. John. DONS OF FOOTBALL School’s heritage: Hockey, a widely popular game of national in- terest has been a much favoured game in Salesian Mumbai. The pioneers at Tardeo, introduced this game to the students as early as 1930, and it gained acceptance and recognition in the school. The small grounds at Tardeo were big enough for a game of hockey for the enthusiastic school children under the tutelage of the Salesians themselves. The school team began participating in major inter-school tournaments and the winning habit of the boys made the sports buffs sit up and take notice. They annexed major titles in hockey: Fr. Palacio's League, Dr. Viegas Cup, Ahmed Sailor League and the Jr. Aga Khan. Slowly but surely the school teams made giant strides to become a major force in the hockey league of champion schools. Big names in hockey have graced the school coaches' roll of honour. These include Tata's Ap- panna Sir, Sukhwinder Singh and International defender B.S. Kuttappa. Today, the school teams are in safe hands under the astute leadership and training of Javed Sayyed and Datta Mayekar. Hock- ey in the city of Mumbai is facing challenging times today as not many schools take up hockey as other sports disciplines. There is a decline in the participation of school teams in the MSSA and DSO organised tournaments. However the love for the beautiful game hasn't faded yet on the Bosco cam- pus! Enthusiastic and passionate followers of the game want to take the game forward, and thus bring back belief, charisma and fans to the sport that once defined India's sporting glory! School’s achievements (2017-18): U-16 Hockey team MSSA Champions, MHA Hockey league winners, Aga Khan trophy runners-up: The school U-16 hockey team annexed the Ahmed Sailor trophy in style defeating Our lady of Dolours, (Marine Lines), 8-0 in the finals played on 26th Sep- tember 2017 at BHA ground, Churchgate in the MSSA organ- ised inter-school hockey tourna- ment. The team then went on to win the Hockey League, organ- ised by Mumbai Hockey Associa- tion. This tour- nament was the first of its kind organised by MHA. We won the finals by 2 goals against St Stanislaus School, Bandra. The amazing team missed to pocket the third title of the season when they lost to St. Stanislaus High School 2-0 in the finals of the Aga Khan Trophy played on St. Stanislaus grounds, Bandra in Dec 2017. DONS OF FOOTBALLSchool’s heritage:

Hockey, a widely popular game of national in-terest has been a much favoured game in SalesianMumbai. The pioneers at Tardeo, introduced thisgame to the students as early as 1930, and it gainedacceptance and recognition in the school. The smallgrounds at Tardeo were big enough for a game ofhockey for the enthusiastic school children underthe tutelage of the Salesians themselves. The schoolteam began participating in major inter-schooltournaments and the winning habit of the boysmade the sports buffs sit up and take notice. Theyannexed major titles in hockey: Fr. Palacio'sLeague, Dr. Viegas Cup, Ahmed Sailor League andthe Jr. Aga Khan. Slowly but surely the schoolteams made giant strides to become a major forcein the hockey league of champion schools.

Big names in hockey have graced the schoolcoaches' roll of honour. These include Tata's Ap-panna Sir, Sukhwinder Singh and Internationaldefender B.S. Kuttappa. Today, the school teamsare in safe hands under the astute leadership andtraining of Javed Sayyed and Datta Mayekar. Hock-ey in the city of Mumbai is facing challengingtimes today as not many schools take up hockeyas other sports disciplines. There is a decline inthe participation of school teams in the MSSA andDSO organised tournaments. However the love forthe beautiful game hasn't faded yet on the Bosco cam-pus! Enthusiastic and passionate followers of thegame want to take the game forward, and thus bringback belief, charisma and fans to the sport that oncedefined India's sporting glory!
