Simple Machines
Lever:A lever is a straight board that pivots, or moves,
on a point or fulcrum. Pushing on one end of a lever causes the other end of the lever to move.
Inclined Plane:An inclined plane is a sloping surface, such as a ramp. An inclined plane can
be used to make work easier.
Wedge:Wedges are typically used to split things in two,
like a knife, axe, or zipper. In some cases a wedge can be used to hold a door open.
Pulley:A pulley is a wheel that has a groove to hold a rope. When you pull on the rope,
the pulley moves an object.

Simple Machines
Wheel & Axle:A wheel and axle has a larger wheel connected
by a cylinder to a second wheel. The two wheels work together to move objects.
Screw:A screw is an inclined plane wrapped around
a cylinder or shaft. When rotated, a screw can hold two objects together.
Compound Machine:Compound machines are two or more machines
working together to make work easier. Examples include: bicycles, corkscrews,
lawn mowers, can openers, and wheelbarrows.
