simple inorganic arsenic testing
DESCRIPTION
An 2012 overview of our Arsenic Quick, recognized throughout the world as premium inorganic arsenic field test kits. Designed using cutting-edge chemistry, our kits report results in as few as 14 minutes and detect from 0.3 ppb. All Arsenic Quick™ kits detect below the MCL limits of inorganic arsenic concentrations in drinking water set by the EPA of 10 ppb (parts per billion) and the FDA limit in bottled water of 5 ppb. Our patented test kits are used by various world relief organizations. Performance and accuracy of these kits have been verified by the USEPA through the ETV program and require no technical training or equipment.TRANSCRIPT
Arsenic Field Testing Made Easy

About Arsenic Ø 49 of the 50 states have reported finding
arsenic in water Ø EPA lowered the MCL (maximum
containment level) to 10ug/L (PPB) Ø Testing for arsenic below 10ug/L can be
done by an analytical lab or by an on-site test kit quickly and accurately
How our Arsenic Kit works Ø Reduces inorganic arsenic (trivalent and
pentavalent arsenic) in an acidic aqueous sample to arsine gas
Ø Excess hydrogen gas is generated, which facilitates the passage of the arsine gas through the reaction test strip which forms a yellow color in the presence of arsine directly proportional to the arsenic level
How our Arsenic Kit works Ø The reduction in all these kits utilizes zinc
and includes the following reactions:
As4O6 + 12 Zn +24H+ → 4AsH3(gas) + Zn2+ + 6H2O
and
Zn +2H+ → Zn2+ + H2 (gas)
How the Ultra Low Arsenic Quick II Kit works
Ø Tartaric acid is used to replace hydrochloric or sulfuric acids to remove hazardous reagents
Ø The analysis is done with a 500 ml sample in a closed reaction bottle (plastic), which minimizes arsine gas hazards.
Ultra Low Arsenic Quick II Kit #481300
Ø The kit was assessed for reliability for on-site Arsenic water testing.
Ø EPA / ETV Test Verified Performance

Test procedure for the Ultra Low Arsenic Quick II
STEP 1 Ø For best results, the
water temperature should be between 22°C to 28°C. Use a thermometer to verify the temperature of the sample.
Ø To the Reaction Bottle, slowly add the water sample to the marked line on the bottle (500mL).

STEP 2 Ø Add 2 level pink
spoons of first reagent (tartaric acid with iron and zinc catalysts) to the reaction bottle. Cap securely with the black cap and shake vigorously for 15 seconds.

STEP 3 Ø Uncap the reaction
bottle and add 2 level red spoons of the second reagent (MPS which oxidizes sulfide)

STEP 4 Ø Recap securely with
the black cap and shake vigorously up and down for 15 seconds. Allow to sit for 2 minutes (this allows oxidation of sulfide).

STEP 5 Ø Prepare the turret cap as
follows: Open the packet and carefully remove the strip. Avoid touching the Mercuric Bromide testing pad. Position the testing pad over the orifice and press down the turret handle over the pad until it locks into position on the cap.

STEP 6 Ø Uncap the Reaction
Bottle and add 2 level white spoons of the Third Reagent (Zinc dust). Recap securely with the black cap and shake vigorously for 5 seconds.

STEP 7 Ø Remove the black
cap from the Reaction Bottle and recap securely using the turret cap with strip. Incubate for ten (10) minutes

STEP 8 Ø After 10 minutes pull
the turret up. Use the Color Chart (Quick™ Ultra Low II) and match the color of the exposed side of the testing pad within 2 minutes.

Ø The Quick™ Scan Test Pad Reader can be used as an alternative for determining the color intensity on the test strip.

ENDORSEMENTS
Ø Independent verification of our kits in the December 2006 AWWA journal
“Quick II kits will be most applicable for water utilities and contracted vendors responsible for monitoring the influent and effluent arsenic concentrations of POU devices”
ENDORSEMENTS
Ø Honored by the Water Environmental Federation (WEF) as an 2003 Innovative Technology Award winner
TEST KIT PERFORMANCE IN A LAB
Ø Analysis will provide good results in a Laboratory setting
Ø A lab is a controlled environment where Reagent stability is assured
Ø Recalibration of test kit reagents or kit performance can be easily confirmed
TEST KIT ON-SITE PERFORMANCE (Challenges)
Ø Test kits and instruments on-site operate under different environmental conditions
Ø Customer home or business can have a great deal of affect on results and operator
Ø Distractions like noise and activity Ø For some tests (especially Liquid reagents)
stability is affected by elevated Temperature in transport vehicle
Ø On-site precise results are a challenge Ø Easy, non-technical procedures are desirable
