Simon is 8 years old and lives with his mum and dad in Aarhus, Denmark. Simon is suffering from the rare diagnose malignant migrating partial epilepsy.

As Simon grows, his needs changes. Therefore, the bathroom could no longer live up to the needs of Simon, his family or his caregivers. The family wanted a new and larger bathroom, tailored to Simon’s needs, to meet the challenges the family and caregivers faced in Simon’s daily care; challen-ges that, among other things, affected the safety of transferring Simon and good working posture for the family and caregivers

A NEW BATHROOM FOR SIMON

At the Scandinavian Health and Rehab trade fair, the family looked among other at a shower changing table and a height-adjustable wash basin, both from Pressalit. Next, the family visited Pressalit’s test facility, where the bathroom was constructed in a 1-to-1 scaled model. This enabled Pressalit to give the family an impression of how much space they would have, and how the products would work within the room.

In the process leading up to the final solution, the dominant focus has been Simon’s needs and future proofing of the bathroom. This means that the bath-room’s features can be changed to reflect potential changes in Simon’s needs.
