Dear Parishioners,

Today is our first trial day of the parking lot Mass at 11 AM. There is no music; but, it is a beautiful opportunity to participate in the holy Mass in the safety of your car or truck. Enjoy the Word of God being proclaimed, the outstanding homily and all of the prayers … in the comfort of your car … and hear it all through your FM radio. Receive the Eucharist which is being distributed at the normal communion time. All are welcome and please enter through the LOMITA gate. Exit through the CHESTNUT gate. This is an experiment, and we will keep you posted on how this is working for us. Our goal is to serve as many as possible and for everyone to feel safe and comfortable, whether on our beautiful patio or in the parking lot or through our live streaming which continues to take place daily. We are here to serve you!!

As mentioned last week, if you would like to donate a candle or poinsettia to honor a loved one, see page 6 of the bulletin for details. We have a number of different Christmas charitable outreaches. Please see page 7 for information on the St. Vincent de Paul Adopt a Family program and donations for our sister parish in Haiti. All of these are a great way to give to the less fortunate. Thank you for your participation!

This Tuesday evening, December 15th, we begin Holy Family’s annual tradition of nine consecutive Simbang Gabi Masses on our patio. Due to the Covid restrictions and in consideration of our neighbors next door, these Masses will all be at 7 PM and take place December 15-23 instead. This is great sacrificial and spiritual preparation in anticipation of our Christmas holy day. All are welcome to participate. The Fil Am Council has been working hard to make the proper arrangements keeping safety of paramount concern.

Our Christmas celebrations are coming up! Please check out our parish website for the latest scheduling information. As of this writing (always subject to government and archdiocese Covid19 policy changes), we begin the Christmas celebrations with a Christmas Eve, December 24th 2:30 PM live stream Mass (playable at any time on your computer or mobile devices). Some will choose to watch at midnight. Please watch whenever it works best for those of you who prefer a virtual Mass. This Mass will include an incredible Holy Family choir recording. In addition, we will have a 4 pm family Mass on December 24th along with a 5:30 PM Mass on December 24th as well. On Christmas day, we plan to have Masses at 8 AM, 9:30 AM, 11 AM and 12:30 PM in Spanish. I know we are not supposed to travel, but If you plan to be out of town for the Christmas celebrations, keep in mind your offering to Holy Family. It is much appreciated!!! JUAN EL BAUTISTA

En una casa abierta de la escuela se escuchó a una mujer presentando a su marido a algunos de los otros padres. “Oh, José, me gustaría que conozcas al padre de Juanito. Y aquí, esta es la mamá de María, ya sabes la niña que juega fútbol con nuestra Elena”.

Con satisfecha resignación Bill se presentó no por su nombre sino: “Soy el padre de Elena”.

Es bueno saber quién es uno. Si somos el padre o la madre de alguien, hijo o hija, esposo o esposa, es importante que aceptemos el sentido pleno de nues-tras diferentes funciones.

Juan Bautista sabe quién es. Y quién no es. No es el Cristo. No es Elías. Tam-poco igual a ningún otro profeta que el pueblo de Dios hubiese visto.
