Welcome to CarFest SouthWelcome to CarFest South for our ‘Pride & Joy’ classic car sale, our last auction of what has been a truly action packed summer.

We’d like to thank everyone who came along and supported us earlier this month at CarFest North, where we raised an amazing £115,651 for BBC Children In Need, with 20 cars and dozens of charity lots finding new homes.

We’d like to do everything we can to try and build on that fantastic total this weekend, so I’d encourage you to dig deep and support such a worthy cause.

Of course, as well as helping raise money for charity, we’re here to help you secure the car of your dreams and we’ve put together a truly magnificent collection for you to choose from.

Please take your time to look over the vehicles on offer as well as examining their important history files so you can familiarise yourself with the fascinating past of these stunning vehicles.

If this is your first car auction, then please come and talk to one of our team who will be delighted to assist you in any way we can.

We hope you enjoy your time with us and if you miss out on the car of your dreams today, there will be one final opportunity later this year when we host the NEC Classic Motor Show Sale on 16th November.

Thank you and good luck!

Lot 101

Introduced in 1974 The Alfetta GT was a fastback coupé version of the Alfetta saloon. Fitted with a variant of the Alfa DOHC four these engines featured a chain driven 8-valve twin overhead cam cylinder head of cross-flow design. For 1976, with the final phasing out of the earlier 105 Series, the Alfetta GT became a whole new model range, with 1.6-litre and 2.0-litre versions. The GTV designation was initially reserved for the 2.0-litre top version.

The styling of the GTV, while distinctive, shared many design features derived from the Montreal, but translated down to a simpler and thus more marketable vehicle.

This 1977 Alfa Romeo Alfetta 2000 GTV is finished in beautiful ivory with a silver blue cloth interior and is a two-owner car having been with the last owner since 1978!

During this time the car was much loved and no expense had been spared in keeping the car roadworthy and looking good. In 1984 the car was sent to Allan Perry Garages in Nottingham for bodywork rectification. The renowned company Benalfa undertook further bodywork repairs in 1988 and 1992. Another visit to Allan Perry was

required in 1996 and due to these regular bodywork maintenance intervals. As a result of this the car was kept up not only a high mechanical standard but also an excellent cosmetic standard as well.

By the end of 2001 the car was in need of major attention, rust was building up in all the usual Alfa places and an extensive restoration was undertaken. It was carried out to a high standard by Red Motori in Blandford. On their recommendation, Tony Williams based in Dorset, was then selected as the bodywork contractor. Based on a detailed work scope and a ‘fixed price’ contract, work commenced in 2002. Progress was monitored on a regular basis. The meticulous preparation of the bodywork panels down to bare metal, including the doors and sills, the refitting of the windscreen and rear window, the priming of the body shell, the corrosion inhibiting of the box sections, were all carried out with a particular attention to detail. This delivered a result which surpassed all the previous work.

Unfortunately for the last seven years the car has been laid up in dry storage. However it has now been recommissioned and is ready to use once again with receipts of nearly £3k covering the latest bills for the full bare metal re-spray and also getting the alloy wheels powder coated.

This Italian gem is a really practical little classic, with its 5 speed gearbox and 128 bhp twin Cam engine you could be confused in thinking you were driving a much newer car.

Introduced in 1955 and produced until 1969, the Fiat 600 was the marque’s first rear-engine car, built along the 600 two-door sedan and the innovative Multipla, which predicted the minivan by some 30 years. While outwardly small and riding on a wheelbase just shy of 80 inches, the 600 provided remarkable passenger and luggage space, thanks to its rear-mounted inline four-cylinder engine. The updated 600D debuted in the fall of 1960 with an enlarged 767-cc engine, swiveling vent windows and additional louvers on the engine-compartment lid.

Much like the VW Beetle and Ford’s Model T, Fiat’s 600 mobilized millions and contributed strongly to Italy’s postwar reconstruction, with some 2.6 million examples rolling off Fiat’s Mirafiori assembly line.

This charming little Fiat 600 is finished in Green with matching interior and engine bay! The odometer is reading only 10,566 Kilometres. The car has been registered in the

UK and 11 months MOT are supplied with this lot. There is also a letter from Fiat Historic Archive to verify the chassis and its originality.

The 767cc petrol engine is original and starts quickly, and is reported to be running and driving well. Supplied with optional working front fog lights and all of the classic Italian styling a collector could ever want.

Mercedes have been producing an SL (Sport Leicht or Sport Lightweight) model since 1954 when the landmark 300SL was unveiled. The similarly styled, but mechanically unrelated, 190 followed in 1955. The second generation SLs began with in 1963. It was distinguished by its lower waistline, big curved screens and a distinctive optional hardtop that earned the model its nickname of ‘Pagoda’. The larger, third generation SL (R107) was launched in 1971, the car featured a two-door monocoque body shell with independent suspension all round - double wishbone and coil springs at the front and semi-trailing arms and coil springs at the rear. Braking was by discs all round - ventilated on the front. The 2.8-litre (280SL) appeared in mainland Europe in 1974. The latter became available in the UK from October 1980 and remained in production until 1985.

The Mercedes Benz 280SL (R107) offered here is a lovely example with a fantastic history. Having covered 69,200 miles over the past 32 years it has had just 5 owners and been meticulously maintained. The last owner purchased the car in 1991, and then kept the car garaged and under cover whilst only covering 16,000 miles in it.

Probably the most notable owner of this particular car is none other than rock star Roger Daltrey from The Who. Having been purchased directly from Roger Daltrey by the last owner the car is presented with fantastic history from his ownership including his original V5 in his name and a sales receipt for the car written by him and signed by Daltrey himself. Along with this history the car also comes with the original handbook, service book old MOTS and sales brochure.

This is a great chance to buy a useable and enjoyable classic car in superb condition with a fantastic celebrity history.

The Heritage Certificate states the car as delivered new in Tartan Red on 6th August 1962 to Anstey’s Ltd, Maidstone, Kent. The car was registered in 1962 ‘644UKN’ and the car still retains that number to this day. In total, the car has had 4 former keeps from new and there are DVLA copies of all previous registration documents, including a copy of the original buff log book. Finished in its original colour combination, this Cooper was restored in 1998 according to the bills. Included in the history file are invoices for restoration work and an engine rebuild. Credit to the restorers, as the car is still presented in lovely condition and drives very well. There are a number of old MOT test certificates dating back to the 1990s and a full year’s current MOT.

The fifth generation Chevrolet Corvette, the C5, was received to critical acclaim as it bettered its predecessor because of one key factor; it was designed from the outset as a sturdy convertible, as opposed to a coupé that was subsequently weakened by the removal of the roof structure. Furthermore, the transmission was moved to the rear of the car to form an integrated, rear-mounted transaxle assembly which was connected to the all-new LS1 engine via a torque tube; this engine/transmission arrangement helped facilitate a desirable 50-50 percentage, front-rear weight distribution for the vehicle improving handling significantly.

The Convertible C5 offered here in the extraordinarily rare colour combination of Nassau Blue and tan leather is a superior example of the marque. A UK supplied car delivered to its first owner from a Cadillac dealership in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, this example has travelled just 69,000 miles, many of these under the stewardship of a lady owner (thus the private registration reading T10 ART, TART). We are reliably informed that this is the only Nassau Blue and tan car ordered for the UK market, and what’s really exceptional about this car is the Magnesium wheels, a $5,000 option when new, which given the car was just $24,0000 is quite exceptional! Today, it retains its Heads-Up-Display read-out and benefits from the addition of a poly-carbon wind deflector traditionally only fitted to Chevrolet Pace Cars.

Better still is the accompanying invoice from Marque experts, Dart Corvette in Kent for recent expenditure totalling more than £6,600. There is an enormous list detailing the length that the vendor has undertaken to prepare this car for CarFest, including; all brake lines, hoses, callipers and brake-pads replaced. Seats restored with leather inserts as per original, Borla exhaust fitted, performance K&N cold-air induction filter system fitted, engine bay cleaned, wheels refurbished, battery fitted, bodywork refurbished where tarnished and small areas on the wings repainted, a thorough service and door module fitted with data feed. All parts that could not be satisfactorily restored were replaced with new, and the standard of the work completed is very high. Not only is this an eye-catching example of American Muscle, it also sounds great and goes like the clappers!... We know, we’ve driven it!...

The MGB replaced the outgoing MGA in May 1962. It then remained in production until the Abingdon factory finally closed in 1980. Compared with ‘A’ the ‘B’ was a more comfortable mode of transport all round with more legroom and generally more creature comforts like wind-up windows. Initially all the cars were roadsters and the suspension was slightly softer than the MGA, but it still handled well. Despite being an inch or two shorter than the ‘A’ the interior space was better designed giving the passengers a bit more space plus there was now room for a more sensible amount of luggage when touring. But it carried on the ‘wind in the hair’ tradition of the great

1967 MGB RoadsterRegistration: LJR578E

Chassis Number: TBA

Engine Number: TBA

Estimate (£): 8,000 - 10,000

British sports car and while by modern standards it is not particularly rapid, in its day its performance was regarded as ‘brisk’. The entire MGB range all used a version of the 1798 cc BMC Series B engine, which was a slightly enlarged version of the 1622cc Series A Engine.

The car we have here today has only recently finished a ground up restoration. There are many pictures available in the history file that detail the entire process from barn-find discovery to gleaming restored car. Reading a believed genuine 50,000 miles from new, this car was discovered by the last owner having been stood for many many years. The restoration was a painstaking process over a period of two years. There are bills and receipts for parts used and the car has seen little use since being restored.

There are still many MGB’s out there so there is strong supply chain for all sorts of parts, over 500,000 variants of the MGB left the factory, however you will have to travel a very long way to find an example as fine as this... there must be some summer left this year so here is great opportunity to get a tan and feel that wind blowing through your hair!

The Bentley T-Series is an automobile which was produced by Bentley Motors Limited from 1965 to 1980. It was announced and displayed for the first time at the Paris Motor Show on 5 October 1965 as a Bentley-badged version of the totally redesigned chassis-less Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow. The Bentley was differentiated from its Rolls Royce sibling by its simpler and lighter front grille.

The Bentley, being technically an identical twin of the Rolls-Royce, seemed to be bought mostly by owners wishing a little more understatement but the same luxuries throughout the cabin and the same stately drive.

1979 Bentley T2Registration: SGK 380V

Chassis Number: SBH38742

Engine Number: 38742

Estimate (£): 6,000 - 9,000

This charming Bentley T2 benefits from being offered with a full complement of handbooks, service records, Warranty, extended Warranty and correspondence from Broughtons of Cheltenham from as far back as 1987 for the supply and fitment of a Cobra alarm and an Alpine radio cassette player.

Finished in Silver Sand coachwork with lovely Beige leather interior piped in dark brown, Bentley rear-headrests and excellent woodwork throughout, the cabin of this impressive and capable motorcar is a lovely place to be. The odometer is showing 18,900 miles, although the last recorded service in the book was by Silver Lady Services of Middlesex at 120,000miles in 2002. We have driven this car a short distance and can confirm that she behaves herself very well in traffic, pulls evenly through the gears and brakes in a straight line as you would expect.

This is an enormous amount of motorcar at a very sensible guide price. The agreed insurance valuation of £12,000 accompanies the vehicle, as does an MOT to May 2014 and the vehicle is of course UK registered.

Lot 112

This particular E30 325i convertible was one of the last ever to be built of this iconic model and was supplied new in February 1993 by Dick Lovett of Bristol. With only three recorded owners from new, including a period of time spent in the Isle of Man, this particular car has led a much pampered life and it shows. With a warranted mileage of just 96000 miles it comes with a good service history with 17 stamps in the book and is complemented by the complete supplying dealer hand pack with all the correct period handbooks and wallet, there is even the original sales brochure.

The 2.5 litre 6 cylinder petrol engine fires readily from cold with no blue smoke or nasty knocks or rattles. It drives both smoothly and swiftly with nicely weighted steering and firm brakes that track both straight and true. Equally it is assisted by a super smooth automatic transmission that gives a linear power delivery right through the power band, including kick down. All electrics and gauges work perfectly and when warm the temperature gauge sits at exactly 80 degrees and never moves.

All is well under the bonnet, both engine oil and engine coolant are clean and fresh, and the cam belt was replaced in 2012. Its annual service was carried out at the beginning of this month and the current MOT is valid until July 2014.Inside an E30 the cabin is small and perfectly formed. Dashboard ergonomics are brilliant and there are enough

buttons and controls to keep any tech head happy including a full electric power roof, heated seats and cruise control, also of particular interest is the fact that this car comes with a very rare factory hardtop. All gauges and switches are properly fitted and function exactly as they should, the grey Recaro leather interior is in beautiful condition throughout and it genuinely seats four people in supreme comfort.

The Mauritius Blue paintwork is very straight, the gloss of its paintwork is deep, and its shut lines and gaps are reassuringly symmetrical and narrow, the result is a car that’s about as good as you can get, it really is a beautiful car. It has a simple elegance that is not found in a modern BMW and the market for these is certainly on the rise, with its collectability potential and beautiful overall condition it offers fantastic value.

This 1955 Series One 86” petrol Land Rover was supplied new to the British Navy on 1st October 1955. The car was originally painted light blue, denoting military use and there are pictures of the car prior to restoration finished in this colour. The last owner was an avid Land Rover enthusiast and set about restoring chassis number 170600255 over a ten year period between 2002 to 2012.

As detailed by invoices for parts and photographs in the history folder, this Series One was taken back to the bare chassis and all corrosion attended to. The bulkhead was stripped and removed, all rust was removed and new footwalls were welded in. Pictures show the car as a complete rolling chassis. Where original parts were in good condition they were cleaned and repainted as necessary. New parts that were fitted during the restoration included: brake wheel cylinders, brake pipes, brake shoes, shock absorbers, upholstery, hoses, wiring loom, clutch, front

bumper, windscreen frame, tyres, water hoses and voltage control regulator. Where specialist work was required, the owner sub-contracted accordingly. The gearbox and front axle were rebuilt by marque specialists JSF Norwich. The brake master cylinder by Past Parts of Bury St Edmonds and the SU fuel pump by Land Rover Orphanage. Many hundreds of hours were dedicated to the rebuild and the car has covered only 500 miles since completion.

The current owner has used and enjoyed this very special Land Rover for numerous tasks and occasions. Presented in completely standard specification, HSL 826 has been lovingly preserved for generations to come. In October 2012 the exact same vehicle, although formerly the property of Sir Winston Churchill, achieved £140,000 at auction! What value for money this particular Lot must now represent. The Alfa Romeo 105/115 series Coupés were built from 1963 until 1977. They were the successors to the celebrated Giulietta Sprint coupé and used a shortened floor-pan from the Giulia saloon car. The basic body shape shared by all models was designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro for Bertone. It was one of his first major projects for Bertone, and borrowed heavily from his earlier design for the Alfa Romeo 2000 Sprint/2600 Sprint. The balance of glass and metal, the influence of the shape of the front and rear glass on the shape of the cabin, and the flat grille with incorporated headlamps were all considered ground-breaking styling features for the era.

1975 Alfa Romeo GT JuniorRegistration: NAP 88P

Chassis Number: AR0001815

Engine Number: AR00526/55878A

Estimate (£): 9,000 - 12,000

Often regarded, as one of the best looking and handling classic salon car with its 5-speed gearbox, all round disc brakes, independent suspension and torquey engine they have the capability to embarrass many of its modern counterparts.

This particular 1975 GT Junior model has had just 5 former keepers the previous of which owned the car for over 13 years. The car has always been well maintained and under the ownership of its last long term keeper was subject to engine and bodywork renovation, the later of course being key with Alfa Romeos.

Presented in overall good order and with a great history file this car is lovely useable example of a fast appreciating classic that will turn heads wherever you go.

The Ferrari 456 was their flagship V12 two plus two coupé produced between 1992 and 2003. The 436bhp coupé travelled from 0-60mph in just 5.2 seconds and on to a top speed of 188mph. Costing close to £200,000 when new, it remains a rare and special car today.

This particular car is a UK supplied right hand drive car finished in its original colour of Tour de France Blue with crema upholstery. It has an absolutely full service history with both main dealers and renowned Ferrari specialists, including cambelts that have been changed every 3 years and an annual service , irrespective of mileage.

The extremely low mileage of just 21,000 is warranted by the Ferrari enthusiast vendor and the comprehensive history file holds all invoices and previous MOT’s confirming the care and attention that has been lavished on this car from new. Today these 21,000 miles have been covered by our vendor over the past five and a half years, and there have been just 3 previous keepers.

Ready now to enjoy and use, this stunning motor car is offered in outstanding order throughout and also comes with both 10 months MOT and road tax.

Based on the Mulsanne chassis, the Bentley Turbo R was built to be a high performance car. Like its predecessor this Bentley had a turbo charged engine, however it was highly tuned in comparison to the Mulsanne. With Bosch fuel injection to increase torque levels, uprated suspension, anti-roll bars and superior dampers, the Bentley Turbo was surprisingly nimble in the bends for a car of its size. Using a 6750cc V8 capable of 135mph the Bentley Turbo R was a real performer in a straight line too. Rave reviews in the press helped dealers move the Turbo R in relatively substantial numbers - one report by Motor Trend described it as “The first Bentley in decades deserving of the famous name”.

Released in 1985 the Turbo R was a clear indication that the manufacturer intended to be at the leading edge of the fashionable sports car market. Sales were high enough

for production of the Mulsanne to cease, despite the initial intention being for both cars to be produced in alongside. Indeed, the Turbo R went on to be one of the best-ever selling cars that either Rolls-Royce or Bentley had built. A slight face-lift of the Turbo went ahead in 1989, with the most noticeable changes being the replacement of the two large square front head-lamps with quad round head-lamps giving the car a more sporty and individual look. The Bentley Turbo RT eventually replaced it in 1997, by then a total of 7,230 Turbo R’s had been sold.

This example offered here is a very late example of the model and as such benefits from all the upgrades and face lift that the model was given during its lifespan. Having had just 3 owners from new the car is presented in lovely condition having covered just 60,000 miles.

Despite having been well maintained and cherished by the previous owners, in later life ill health meant that the car was laid up in 2008 in dry storage for several years until being recently recommissioned and put back on the road just last year. Having covered minimal miles since the car is now being offered for sale due to lack of use.

*Please note the private registration plate shown in the images is not included with the lot it will be sold with the number plate P114 OCA*

Our vendor’s father was in Germany in 1971 and purchased this Porsche 911T Targa. He obtained the car directly from the second owner and went on to cherish it until 2011. He imported it into England in 1974. The car was well loved and in consequence rarely driven for fear of any damage, although the vendor would religiously start and clean the Porsche regularly. In 1981 the family moved from Tonbridge to Pembury the car was a trailered over and we are told that apart from backing it out of the garage it was never out on the road again. Unfortunately in 1996 he became ill and slowly forgot about turning the engine over, although he remained proud of her until August 2011. Our vendor took ownership of the car circa 2008/2009 with the intention of putting her back on the road so that he could sit in her one last time.

At this time the car was taken to Paragon for a full engine rebuild, which took roughly 2 and a half to 3 years. The car was stored over the winter by Paragon and returned in the spring of 2012. Bodywork was the next area to receive treatment, as it was looking a little sorry for itself. It was taken to Hillarys Coachworks and the decision was made to restore it back to its fantastic original colour of Viper Green so that everything would be just as it was when the car rolled off the production line. A full body bare metal respray was undertaken and once the paint was removed it turned out the car was in good original shape underneath.

The Targa roof was rebuilt, the over-riders re-chromed, and the interior refreshed with the inlay in the drivers and passengers seats replaced along with the internal leather panels next to the back seat.

This car has a phenomenal history being just a 3 owner car (2 family owners), presented with the car are all the invoices from Paragon and Hillarys Coach works. Along with the original handbook and every letter (some in German) from Porsche, and invoice regarding the Porsche. There are also 2 workshop manuals, and 2 dealership spare parts catalogues. Photos detailing every stage of the rebuild and respray and additional books/manuals for the Porsche.

This is a rare opportunity to buy a well-loved and well-documented iconic early Porsche 911 in the 50th Anniversary the 911.

“As with most aspects of the VW scene, there is a significant amount of speculation and debate relating to models. There will always be the originals and the imitators, and there will always be some models which are more sought after than others. In the Beach Buggy world, one name reigns supreme - the Meyers Manx.... Manx Buggies are highly sought after and can command frightening prices. In the UK however, the Buggy that gets all Buggy boffs a bit hot under the collar is the short wheel base Mk 1 GP. In looks, this is very close relative to the Manx Buggy and it’s certainly the most attractive and well-proportioned of all UK built buggies.”

The UK’s resident Buggy expert, James Hale, has identified this particular Mk 1 as one of the earliest complete Mk 1 GPs known in this country. The body is exactly as it was when it came from the factory originally. This in itself is

very rare as many bodies and wheel arches have been cut, extended, modified or damaged. To find one in such original condition today is nearly unheard of. The car was found largely complete in an overgrow garden and subsequently sat for a number of years until it was completely restored in the late 1990s. The restoration has stood the test of time very well and the car is still presented in fine order. The Gold metalflake paintwork retains a great shine and mechanically the car is in fine fettle.

With only 5 owners from new, lots of bills, large history file and full 5-page article in the 1999 edition of Volksworld Magazine (as quoted), this little Buggy is a seriously collectable piece of VW history and anyone who has driven one can testify, a complete hoot to drive.

The VW van has evolved into something of a Cult status, to the point where brand new ones are now being supplied to the market for sums up to £30,000. Always associated with “surfers” these vans are still a most practical “classic” proposition, and with many active and highly supportive clubs, you could be off doing something every weekend with perfect peace of mind as regards spares supply and mechanical back-up. The Champagne editions of certain Volkswagen models were special sales campaigns run by Volkswagen in 1977 and 1978 featuring limited edition colours and interiors.

Finished in its fantastic 70s colour scheme of Fuchsrot over Dattelbraun this original VW bus remained with its first owner in the dry state of California from 1978 to 2008 after which it was imported into the UK. We are informed by the vendor that there is a comprehensive service history including a detailed log indicating which service items were changed and at what mileage.

After arriving in the UK the bus was the subject of a bare metal respray, the vendor informs us that there is absolutely no rust anywhere, it has never been welded and is completely arrow straight with none of the usual waviness normally associated with restored VW buses. There is documentation to confirm the fitting of a brand new Type 4 1800cc engine in 2010 along with a pair of

brand new 40mm downdraught twin choke Webbers, we are informed by the vendor that this engine has since covered less than 5000 miles.

The interior is in superb condition throughout, the rear seat has Z hinges so it folds flat to make a full width double bed, and the middle seat can be removed if you wish to fit a table and use it as a day van. Since its restoration this Microbus has featured in Volksworld Camper and Bus and also Camper and Commercial. Sold with a new MOT this VW is an absolute gem, it’s been amazingly maintained and cherished by its previous owners. Now it’s ready to use and show, requiring absolutely no work at all.

One of the most likely origins of the word ‘jeep’ was from the Popeye cartoon series. Eugene the Jeep was his “jungle pet”, small and able to solve impossible problems. At the time as war raged in Europe the earliest Jeeps formed a lasting impression on the American soldier which helped the adoption of the term Jeep. Even more impressive was the time taken from concept to production of a design that has stood the test of time and become an unlikely motoring icon. From tenders being sent out, to a production run took less than two hundred days. The cast was set for a deciding factor which influenced the outcome over the next five years, this was Americas’ ability to produce in vast numbers well designed hardware for the war effort. As the war progressed Willys produced over 300,000 Jeeps and millions more future models would stem from that icon piece of automotive design.

With only 51000 miles from new, this 1997 Jeep Wrangler has an exceptional full jeep service history and all of the bills and invoices showing a no expense spared life since new. The car has just been serviced and will be supplied with a full MOT test certificate. It also features optional polished alloy wheels with uprated Powertrain suspension, dual exit Powerflow exhaust and full weather gear. The car sounds like thunder and the 4.0 litre engine pulls like a train. Arnold Schwarzenegger would be proud!

This beautiful example of a genuine Michigan assembled 351ci V8 Mustang Convertible is very special indeed. Rarely do you see these underrated Mach I cars in as good condition as this. Having been the property of one couple for the last 11years, the car was treated to an engine rebuild in 1999 shortly prior to their ownership, and travelled just 10,000miles on the fresh engine with bills to support. At the same time as the engine, the suspension was also rebuilt.

This Mustang further benefits from being converted to an unleaded cylinder head, has supporting MOT’s back to 1991 when it showed 19,000 miles (now 33,000) and even a past auction entry from Miami in 1989 stating 19,000miles.

The Power hood is fully operational and in good condition with only very light creasing to the rear window. All shut lines and panel gaps are excellent and the paint quality looks fresh with a deep shine albeit there is no record of when (or indeed if ) it was repainted. The front bumper would benefit from being repainted as it has some small surface cracks, especially in the corners, but it doesn’t detract from the overall appeal. The wheels are all excellent and shine in all the right places with good tyres and plenty of tread.

Structurally this car appears very solid and is not reported to have been involved in any accidents as you’d expect from a car which has clearly lived a pampered life. The interior is very good indeed, save for one small area of sagging above the armrest on the driver’s door card, but this could be simply rectified.

As you can imagine, the car drives very well with both engine and gearbox behaving themselves and pulling strongly, and importantly, the car stops in a straight line.

The car is accompanied with a healthy history file, UK V5C logbook and current MOT.

This van is Niki Lauda’s Ferrari team van from Ron Howard’s epic film ‘Rush’, released later this year. This little Renault started life as a humble fire truck in a small town on the French/Swiss boarder. It was brought to the UK in 2012 and the van was spotted for the role in Howard’s film before a light recommissioning. Recently painted in the correct factory paint and approved period decals this van would be at home both to show or at the race track lugging tools and spares around. It even comes complete with very fat Avon racing tyres on the period roof rack.

1973 Porsch

e 914 S 2 litre Targa

Needing a replacement for the 912, Porsche worked in collaboration with Volkswagen to produce the 914, with the model being launched in 1969. With excellent weight distribution and superb structural rigidity it was said to equal a 911 coupé despite being a targa. The 1.7 engine fitted to early cars was criticised for lacklustre performance leading to a more powerful ‘S’ version with a 2.0 litre engine being offered for 1973. Sales continued until 1976 when the model was replaced by the 924.

This particular early 2.0 fuel injected ‘S’ model with its 5 speed dog leg gearbox is finished in its original colour of L80E light ivory with black leatherette trim and is in superb condition throughout. The vendor informs us that the battery tray has been replaced but other than that all panels are original and free from corrosion. All trim is original and has none of the usual crack on the dash or door trims normally associated with this particular model Porsche.

Importantly this car has the very desirable appearance package consisting of: 15’’ fuch wheels, five bolt hubs, leather covered gear knob, and a centre console comprising of clock, voltmeter, oil and temperature gauge. We are informed that the vendor is only the second owner since its importation into the UK in 1999, recent expenditure in the last 12 months includes new brake callipers and pads, new battery, steering rack gaiters, throttle pedal belt, new

The Alfa Romeo Spider was produced from 1966 to 1993. It is widely regarded as a design classic and it remained in production for almost three decades with only minor aesthetic and mechanical changes.

1971 saw the Spider Veloce get a new, larger power plant - a 1962cc unit - and consequently the name was changed from ‘1750 Spider Veloce’ to ‘2000 Spider Veloce’. The 1600 Spider restarted production a year later and emerged as the ‘Spider 1600 Junior’, it was in fact visually identical to the 1300. The 1300 and 2000 cars were modified in 1974 and 1975 respectively to include two small seats behind the front seats, thus becoming a “two plus two”.

This lovely Alfa Romeo Spider finished in surely the best colour, Dutch Blue, and it was registered in Edinburgh in 1979 where the first owner kept it until 2004. Following the sale of the car to the second owner an extensive rolling

restoration was undertaken between 2005 and 2010. This included a bare metal respray, refurbished interior and the replacement of the car’s running gear. This included an engine and gearbox rebuild in 2005 with a supporting history on file including receipts for the work carried out during this period. The car was regularly used and enjoyed by the previous owner and since the initial restoration was started it has covered 38,000 miles in the past 8 years.

Having been sold to our vendor in 2011 further general maintenance work was carried out; this included refurbishing the brakes, dampers and shocks. The car has been used for short trips and weekend driving so it has only covering less than 6000 miles in its current ownership. It is presented in superb condition. Ready to be enjoyed by the new owner these Alfa Romeo Spiders are great looking, usable classic cars that drive as well as they look!

The F-Series is a series of full-size pickup trucks from Ford Motor Company which has been sold continuously for over six decades. The most popular variant of the F-Series is the F-150. The F-Series Ford Pickup was the best-selling vehicle in the United States for 24 years.

For the 2004 model year, the F-150 was redesigned on an all-new platform. Externally similar to its predecessor, the eleventh-generation wore sharper-edged styling. Then came the Limited Edition Ford F-150 Lightning as available here. This combined Pickup utility convenience with absolute Supercar performance combining the same engine from the Ford GT to propel this truck to 60mph in just 4.0seconds…

Supplied by Maroone Motors USA in 2004, this special order Slate Grey Lightning benefits from being fitted with a Paxton supercharger, SVT style wheels, air conditioning, stainless steel racing exhaust, custom stainless steel racing grille, alcantara and leather seats and has been re-mapped. The 5.4litre V8 engine emits 500bhp which as stated before is supercar territory, however, sensibly, this car has also been fitted with an LPG fuel system returning a more manageable 40mpg.

Having travelled just 35,000miles, this utilitarian vehicle is offered with UK V5C, current MOT and is capable of many more miles of motoring ahead.

Porsche’s 911E model of 1969-1973 essentially replaced the short-lived 911L (Luxus). The 911E was designed to be the more comfortable, more drivable model of the 911 - fitting between the tamer 911T (Touring) and the high-performance type 911S (Super). In these years, the least-expensive model in Porsche’s range was comprised of the 912, followed by the type 914. The 911E’s designation derives from the German word for injection: einspritzung. The mechanical fuel injection “MFI” system used on the 911E (and 911S) was jointly-developed by Bosch and Porsche. It is similar to the injection system used in the Carrera 6 of 1966 and in addition to more precise control of the fuel-air mixture and equality of distribution among the cylinders (compared to carburetors), the MFI contributed toward meeting the nascent emissions control regulations of the time.

In order to mark the occasion of Jaguar’s arrival in Formula One in the year 2000, Jaguar produced a limited run of 100 Jaguar XKR ‘Silverstone’ editions, of which 50 were Coupé variants and 50 Convertible.

Each featured a unique colour combination of Platinum Silver combined with black leather upholstery and red stitching. The specification of the ‘Silverstone’ included CATS suspension (computer active technology suspension), 20 inch silver BBS Detroit split rim wheels with Pirelli P-Zero tyres, an uprated chassis, Brembo brakes and Birds Eye Maple wood to the dashboard.

This stunning example is offered with full service history detailing its low 51000 miles. We are advised by the vendor the it drives perfectly and the engine and gearbox are faultless and leak free.

SLK actually means Sportlich (sporty), Leicht (light) and Kurz (short) and was first Introduced in 1996 as the 1st-generation SLK, it wowed the world with its compact dimensions (for a Mercedes), spritely supercharged performance and its piece de resistance, a collapsible steel roof that transforms the sporty two-seater from a hardtop to an open-air roadster at the touch of a button.

We are informed by the vendor that this is a genuine two owner car, with the first owner having the car for 11 years. The mileage of just under 92000 miles is warranted and is supported by the cars service book with 7 stamps. Finished in factory black the gloss of this cars paintwork is deep throughout, and its shut lines are reassuringly symmetrical and narrow and almost flawless throughout, less some small stone chips to the bonnet. The blue/black leather interior contrasts beautifully both internally and externally and really does give this little Mercedes a real quality feel, the alloy wheels have recently been refurbished and are in superb order with good tread on all 4 tyres.

We are informed by the vendor that Y2 SLK drives beautifully combining both performance with reliability, the folding roof mechanism works perfectly and makes this car a perfect everyday proposition. The car comes complete with the original dealer hand pack and books and will be sold with a new MOT. This is a staggering car for the

Dax Cars have been established for over 20 years in Harlow, Essex. During this time they have established a reputation for being one of the best component car manufacturers of AC Cobra Replicas, particularly their ‘427’ or Tojeiro model with a small block Chevrolet V8.

This car is a Dax Tojeiro finished in stunning Electric blue with the classic double white stripe combination. Powered by the iconic Chevy small block 5.0 litre Edelbrock engine, it is mated to a 5 speed manual gearbox. These combine to produce close to 350bhp and enormous amounts of torque!

It was built in 2008 by Dax using their highly regarded composite body. Inside the “Cobra” can be found beautifully finished grey leather dash and seats, a Motolita wood rim steering wheel, harness seatbelts and polished twin roll bars. Ten spoke Halibrand style wheels with spinners plus the trademark Cobra stainless steel side-pipe exhaust complement the exterior perfectly - all giving the car a low, wide, and purposeful stance. This car further benefits from the addition of a removable hardtop - this truly sets this car apart and looks fabulous in matching colour to the rest of the car.

Purchased by the current vendor after only covering 870 miles, this stunning example still shows a mere 880 miles, which the MOT certificates suggest is correct, the latest expiring August 2014.

Included in the sale is the unique registration mark AC08 RAG (A COBRA G).

Few would deny that Porsche is one of the finest car manufacturers in history and the stylish Porsche Boxster is a real gem. When it comes to driving thrills the Porsche Boxster is one of the best cars available at any price. It was first put into production as the first-generation 986, the original Boxster came with a 2.5 Litre flat six-cylinder engine. The chassis is highly responsive and drivers have praised its smooth ride with superb handling.

A few years later in 2000 Porsche released the new Boxster S variant, which boasted a considerably more powerful 3.2 litre engine. The Porsche Boxster saved the company from a very uncertain future and is regarded by many people as being amongst the best models to ever wear the famous Stuttgart badge.

This Porsche Boxster S was ordered new from H.R Owen with a very high specification build as shown on the

original bill of purchase for £44,500 which is included in the history file. Having had just 2 previous owners the car has been fastidiously maintained during its 91,000 miles of use and is presented with a full service history. At the last service the car was also subject to new front and rear discs and pads along with brake fluid and gearbox fluid. In addition to its original specification the car has also been fitted a Hayward & Scott sports exhaust and later headlights and Porsche 911 GT3 alloy wheels.

At a fraction of its original purchase price this well cared for Boxster is great value for money and is ready to be enjoyed by its next owner.

‘Dormobile’ was the famous trading name of Martin Walter Ltd, who manufactured and fitted camper conversions on all sorts of vehicles, but notably 1960’s and 1970’s VW vans. The company, Martin Walter, was founded in 1773 and finally ceased trading as recently as 1994. They were one of the first people to cotton on to the idea that a small commercial van could be easily converted for use as a camper.

The first Dormobiles were based on early Bedford vans with factory conversions being carried out in the UK, but the company also sold kits under license to other countries and the VW Camper evolved as one of the most popular models. One of the main visual differences that can be used to recognise a Dormobile against another camper conversion is that the Dormobiles featured a side hinged folding roof as opposed to one that popped ‘straight up’.

This particular Dormobile is an early bay window camper that has been completely restored to a fantastic standard by marque specialists Strictly Air-cooled. The shell was bead blasted to bare metal inside and out before being painted

in Porsche 911 signal yellow 1973 and VW Pastel white. It’s fitted with original VW 1.6 engine that has been rebuilt and tweaked for better road cruising speeds and usability. Also fitted is a Creative Engineering disc brake conversion that is servo assisted.

Tastefully and practically lowered the suspension gives a comfy ride, stiffened anti roll bars not only means this van handles perfectly but we are told does not sway around when lorry’s zoom past. It has been fully loaded and everything you see is included in the sale and better yet it’s all almost ‘as new’! It sleeps four with two bunks in roof and a ‘Rock and Roll’ bed in the rear. It is also fitted with an iPod connection that is mated to an Alpine CD player and sound system. The custom interior was designed and fitted by Calypso Campers and is of great quality. It is fully kitted out featuring a captain’s chair that rotates.

This camper has 240v mains hook up, sink with electric pump, gas hob/grill and a brand new fridge. If that isn’t enough there is also a brand new, large ‘drive away awning’ that has only been set up once to see how it goes together. A tow bar fitted with electrics, it is also fitted with a Twin Fiamma bike rack that is new and unused. This camper comes with everything you see in the pictures, including all pots, pans, knives, forks, folding picnic table, waste water tank ... in other words.. absolutely everything....

This is fantastic opportunity to buy a great camper van. All you need to bring along is yourself and food and then you are off on a big adventure with a stunning camper.

The BMW 2002 was first introduced in 1968 and it was one of their first fun and practical cars. The large boot and four seat layout made the car practical, but it was the 2 litre engine and fantastic suspension that made the car performance oriented at the same time. After the Second World War, companies such as BMW were struggling to stay in business. When the 2002 was introduced, little did BMW know that they would go on to sell over 800,000 units. In 1976, when 2002 production stopped, the 3-series would take its place, based on the same sports saloon platform. Over 40 years later, many of these 2002‘s are still going strong and have achieved somewhat of a cult status.

The 1972 model offered here is an early desirable round tail light model. This example has been under the same ownership since 1984 and has been well cared for throughout its life. Having been used sparingly over this time (roughly 300 miles per year) and stored in a dry, heated garage throughout its life, the car is presented in remarkably good, solid and almost original condition.

The original BMW hand book and lots of history including old MOT’s are in the history file. Even the original Blaupunkt radio (with its handbook) is still fitted to the car, just the way BMW put it together in 1972.

BMW 2002’s are rewarding cars to drive, as well as being practical and spacious for a small coupé, they are easy and cheap to maintain. This car ticks all the right boxes to be a great entry-level iconic classic car.

Alfa GTV’s are a firm favourite of Silverstone Auctions, as they were with you last year at CarFest South, when two similar cars found new homes with funds being raised for Children in Need along the way.

We hope that this car, with Fire Red paint and contrasting black interior will also find a new home today. The official colour code for this paint is Rosso Farina, and the code is 514.

The odometer reading of ‘VJJ 520M’ is just 21,600 miles though, since it was the subject of a thorough Alfaholics engine and mechanical upgrade reputedly costing £10,000 a handful of years ago, this mileage may have been since this time. Alfaholics are well respected in Alfa circles, and were responsible on this car for engine and suspension upgrades including the addition of double side-draught Weber carburettors.

Six months ago the body of this car was restored and there is photographic documentation to show the extent of this work which included the replacement of the inner wings. Now complete with a reconditioned dashboard, the period-correct deep-dish wooden steering wheel and new black door cards, the ‘naff’ Momo handbrake and gear knob seen in the pictures will be replaced before the auction with period correct fittings.

The fantastic looks of this car are wonderfully finished by the addition of Alfa GTA type wheels which look menacing. They’re actually Auto-Delta 15” wheels and are shod with deep-tread Toyo tyres.

UK V5C, MOT and road tax mean you could be driving away in this fantastic Alfa. All you have to do is keep bidding!

This really lovely 300SL is one of the last 50 cars produced, and reputedly carries the cache of being the most highly-spec’d car for the UK market being, as it was, ordered for the Dealer Principal of Mercedes-Benz Harrogate at the time. Most every option in the list as long as your arm was ticked at an eye-watering cost in 1989 of more than £6300 above the £32,750 list price!

Showing fewer than 80,000 believed genuine miles, the car is straight out of an episode of Dallas with striking White paintwork and wonderfully aged but still with Mercedes-standard quality blue leather interior. With matching white hardtop and all those creature comforts from the options list, including drivers’ airbag, this is genuinely an everyday classic that can keep up with modern traffic, look after you with modern safety standards and still cut a look be it on the school run, outside the office, or even in Sainsbury’s car park!

The price is sensibly guided against lesser cars out there in the retail arena that are priced above £20,000, so this is a serious contender to replace your current steed. Taxed, MOT’d and sold with UK V5C, subject to insurance you could be driving this car home...

The Montecarlo is a seriously under-rated and often-forgotten sportscar by virtue of the fact they are so exceptionally rare. It’s really a shame because the more sought-after Series II models , as we have here, are cracking little cars with plenty of kerb appeal.

There were four factory options for the Coupé; a Targa-type roof, leather seats, air conditioning and (strangely), a nearside door mirror. This car has them all making it the ‘top-of-the-shop’ Montecarlo. Styled by Pininfarina and representing the pinnacle of Italian motor manufacturing this might as well be a Ferrari!

Offered in lovely Black paintwork with the correct style nose-cone colouring in contrasting grey, this car further benefits from cream leather interior, and of course, that surprisingly throaty 2.0litre rear-mounted engine. The stock standard wheels and spare, plus carpeted boot area, a clean

interior, period dash, dials and new headlights make this car a very appealing Lot.

Taxed to November this year and road-legal with MOT, the UK V5C shows just one owner on the log book and what is believed to be a genuine 60,500 miles on the clock.

Factory Tour of Aston Martin, Gaydon, Warwickshire

Estimate (£): No Reserve

Aston Martin are delighted to offer this opportunity for Six to visit Aston Martin in our Centenary year at our headquarters in Gaydon, Warwickshire.

Aston Martin’s ethos goes back to 1913 and the very beginnings of the company. The founders, Lionel Martin and Robert Bamford, believed that a sports car should have a distinctive and individual character. They felt it should be built to the highest standards and be exhilarating to drive and own - many things have changed over the ensuing ninety nine years, but those goals are still very relevant to the company today.

In 2003 Aston Martin opened a state-of-the-art headquarters and production facility at Gaydon. As well as being the home of Aston Martin and its main business functions the facility manufactures the award winning DBS, Virage, Rapide, DB9 and Vantage model lines along with the new luxury city car, the Cygnet.

As the company’s first purpose built facility, Gaydon was designed to be the embodiment of Aston Martin and its cars; reflecting the power of the idea, the aesthetic and inner beauty of technically advanced solutions and the very soul that comes from hands that create pure sports cars.

Our Product Specialist will give you an insight into the stages that go behind the creation of every Aston Martin; from the bonding of the aluminium chassis and the hand-stitching of the leather interior to the rigorous testing and inspection prior to the car being dispatched to its first custodian.

The whole experience will take approximately 2 hours, after which you may like to consider visiting the Heritage Motor Centre, a superb museum of predominantly British cars located close to our facility.

Introduced at The Geneva Show in 1980, the Quattro was to go on to become the rallying icon of the 1980’s due to its outstanding four wheel drive capabilities. Their road car was to be Audi’s first highly credible performance saloon, producing over 200bhp and featuring a turbo charged and intercooled unique 5 cylinder engine. Performance and handling were both superb with 0-60mph coming in 7.1 secs and a top speed of around 140mph.

This particular car was built new for the UK market as a right hand drive car and delivered to its first owner, Mr. Vessey, in Guernsey in 1987. The main dealer, who no longer exists, looked after the car from new and we have contacted an ex-mechanic of theirs who confirmed that the car was main dealer maintained throughout the 1990’s and that the mileage is accurate. He recalls it having had a pampered existence and to have covered very few annual miles around the Baileywick.

It was the recipient of a major service costing in excess of £5,000 in 2005 and has also recently had a service in 2012 (bills are in history file). Finished in the best colour combination of Mars Red with grey upholstery, the vendor tells us that this 51,000 mile car drives superbly and has no hidden vices. Sold with just 3 previous owners, a current MOT and road tax - its ready to go - and is as clean underneath as on top!

Although not officially unveiled to the public until September 1948, the Morris Minor had been on the cards already for several years. As far back as 1943, Sir Alec Issigonis was refining the car that would eventually become the Minor. The monocoque design coupled with rack and pinion steering and small 14 inch wheels meant that the Minor handled quite well, and the motoring press of the time loved it.

Today the Morris Minor and 1000 are among the best served classic family-sized cars in the old vehicle movement and they continue to gain popularity. The enduring affection for the “Moggie” is reflected in the number of

restored and improved Morris Minors currently running in Britain, Australasia and in India.

This Woodie was first registered on 18th January 1968 and has had only 3 former keepers from new. The car has always been garaged. Recent work includes engine overhaul, new timing chain, engines mounts and full service. In recent years the cylinder head was also converted to unleaded petrol.

The interior benefits from a recent carpet set and new door rubbers. The woodwork is described as in very good condition. Supplied with an MOT test certificate until January 2014, the car is ready to be used and enjoyed by its next owner.

The last rear-engined, air-cooled Beetle, number 21,529,464, left the production line at Volkswagen de México in Puebla in2003, destined for its maker’s museum in Wolfsburg. Up till 2003 Mexico was the only country in which the legendary Beetle, affectionately known as the “Vocho”, was still in production. The Beetle has been produced or assembled in more than 20 countries worldwide and, in Germany alone, where production ceased in 1978, more than 16.2 million were built. In Mexico, where production of the “Vocho” had continued uninterrupted for 39 years, almost 1.7 million have been made.

There is something unmistakeable about the way Beetles drive, and you can tell a good one almost instantly. This car certainly falls into that category with light precise steering and pedals. The flat four engine starts easily and pulls well through all the gears. To say this little Beetle is

unique would be somewhat of an understatement, not only is it a latter Mexican built car but benefits from a very unusual folding roof, folded back there is excellent all round visibility, making you feel very connected to your surroundings.

We are informed by the vendor that this particular car was actually converted to RHD by VW UK; the silver bodywork is in good order throughout bar a small ding to the OSR wheel arch. The interior is classic VW and really looks the part, the dashboard is simplicity itself and is complimented by the grey cloth interior and also benefits from electric windows.

A Mexican built Beetle is a rare site nowadays, a folding roof model such as this even more so. Arriving in time for the summer weather, this is the ideal warm weather classic to enjoy with both friends and family. Mechanically simple, reliable, who needs air conditioning when you have a car like this.

The Jaguar E-Type is a British automobile legend, manufactured by Jaguar been 1961 and 1975. It is a combination of good looks, high performance, and competitive pricing. In period, a Ferrari cost three times more and supplied less horse power which established the marque as an icon of 1960s motoring. The model became a great success for Jaguar, with more than 70,000 E-Types being sold during its lifespan. On its release, Enzo Ferrari called it “The most beautiful car ever made”.

The model was made in three distinct versions which are now generally referred to as “Series 1”, “Series 2” and “Series 3”. A transitional series between Series 1 and Series 2 is known, unofficially, as “Series 1½”.

A 2+2 version of the coupé was added in 1966. The 2+2 offered the option of an automatic transmission. The body

is 9 in (229 mm) longer and the roof angles are different with a more vertical windscreen.

This pretty Primrose Yellow example originally left the factory in 1971 as a LHD 2+2 coupé in blue and was delivered to the USA.

It was re-imported and first registered in the UK in October 1988 and was subsequently converted to a RHD roadster and re-sprayed. It benefits from having the original 5.3 US specification engine, seats and carpets. With the dashboard, boot and rear stowage box recently being re-trimmed.

We are informed that the engine provides excellent oil pressure and the recently balanced carbs enable smooth running.

The bodywork is good and straight and we are informed by the vendor that with its 4 speed manual gearbox and power-assisted steering it is a joy to drive.

With an estimate of approximately 50% of an original roadster in current market conditions, this has to make for true value for money V12 motoring.

This auction Lot will involve a Wild Mushroom Walk for four people around the Kent Countryside, before returning to the Globe and Rainbow for some cookery demonstrations by Neil Scott, Head Chef, on what to do with Kentish Wild Food. You will then get a Wild Mushroom Meze and be served various Wild Food dishes in a family service allowing the group to try ‘tasters’ of very different foods which may include wood pigeon, rabbit & your own foraged wild mushrooms. The dates to redeem this Lot are dependent on a few different factors. Foraging and the wild mushrooms especially are determined by certain weather conditions and mother nature, it’s not worth going foraging if there is nothing to learn about! It’s not worth going out if the weatherconditions are extreme, and also it has to be a date that works for both the winners of the auction and Neil Scott.

A blinkin’ BIG PENCIL...

Estimate (£): No Reserve

The Derwent giant pencils are made by a local timber merchant, cut and shaped into rough hexagons, then sanded and planed making the sides smooth and shaping the point. The ‘leads’ (which are actually graphite plus binding materials) are made by mixing the ingredients and extruding through a very large diameter die. The leads are then dried in the oven then glued into place in holes drilled in the centre of the pencils. The 6ft pencils are then painted with water based paint and finished with adhesive letters.

Playground Equipment Installation from Play Ahead Climbing Frames

Estimate (£): No Reserve

Jerry Butling of Play Ahead Climbing Frames (www.playaheadclimbingframes.co.uk) has generously donated a bespoke and handmade climbing frame from their workshops in the Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire. Made from UK grown, pressure treated pine, the platform is 1.5m (5ft) high and 2.5 x 1.5m square. There is a 1.5m square house with a balcony, a roof and half-height sides to give it a watchtower effect. Accessories include a climbing wall with access hole to the house, scramble net, fireman’s pole, climbing rails and monkey bars to the balcony. Delivery to anywhere in England and Wales will be included. The whole thing is free standing, with a total foot print of 3.5m x 3.9m. The safety matting is not included. The total value of this exceptional climbing frame including VAT would usually be in excess of £3000.

Lot 163

The Ferrari Mondial convertible was produced by Ferrari from 1980 through to 1993.

The Mondial saw Ferrari return to Pininfarina for styling and it was sold as a mid-sized coupé and, eventually, a cabriolet. It was conceived as a ‘usable’ model, offering the practicality of four seats with the performance of a Ferrari. The car’s body was not built as a monocoque in the same way as a conventional car; instead the steel outer body was produced by the famous Italian coachbuilder Carrozzeria Scaglietti, just down the road in nearby Modena and built over a lightweight steel box-section space frame. The Mondial model was the first Ferrari where the entire engine/gearbox/rear suspension assembly was mounted on a detachable steel sub-frame, making engine removal for a major rebuild or cylinder head removal much easier than it was on earlier models.

Like the new 328 GTB, the Mondial’s engine grew in both bore and stroke to 3.2 L (3185 cc) for 1985. Output was now

280 bhp (201 kW). Available in both Coupé and Cabriolet forms, styling was refreshed with restyled and body-coloured bumpers, similar to the 328 with more integrated indicators and driving lamps, and there were new wheels with a more rounded face.

Finished in Azure Metallic Blue, this particular car has only covered a mere 6,500 miles since first being registered on the 1st of August 1998. Just to put that into context that equates to less than 500 miles per year. It was sold through Stratstone of Wilmslow to a private owner who hardly used the car whilst in his ownership. The car was then subsequently sold to Modena Engineering where records show it was listed on their stock at £110,000. Harrods then purchased the car in 1990 and it became part of the private ‘M Collection’ of Mr. Dodi Fayed, where it remained until June 2004 (Records indicate the vehicle being stored at Dodi Fayed’s home in Oxted). The ‘M Collection’ was subsequently sold by Christies in 1994, after which the car went into private ownership. The history and provenance of this car is beyond reproach and with such low mileage offers incredible investment potential for a Ferrari enthusiast.

Silverstone Auctions are pleased to once again offer this fantastic car having previously sold it at CarFest in 2012. A lack of space has meant this unique car is available once again so don’t miss out this time!

Jaguar introduced the XJS in 1975 and it was instantly acknowledged by the world’s press as an exceedingly competent Grand Tourer. The super reliable 5.3 litre V12 was carried over from the E-Type and when mated to the XJ floorplan became one of the most refined GTs to match any of its rivals. The overall refinement was outstanding, cabin noise levels were uncannily low and the ride was truly ‘boulevard’, but sporty when pressed. With Cabriolets and full Convertibles in the model-line, the production numbers eclipsed 115,000 in its twenty-one year build life. For a car that had to be the follow up act to the E-Type it set new levels of engineering, provided effortless performance and was produced for five years longer.

Its image was enhanced by starring in The Saint and the New Avengers but it was Tom Walkinshaw Racing that endeared the XJS to the motorsport public. When European Touring Cars was at its zenith in the eighties, Walkinshaw was making history teamed with the likes of Win Percy, Hans Heyer and Jeff Allam winning, amongst others, the 1984 ETC Championship and the Spa 24hrs.

It’s hard to believe that a front-engined V12 GT can be bought for these values, and this very fine example being a low-owner car (believed four in total) from new is a treat. Offered in traditional British Glacier White with full magnolia leather interior and contrasting burgundy piping; the vendor, Vassos Alexander, describes the car as

‘Immaculate’ saying it is in the same great condition as when he bought it from Chris Evans. He further offers “Its proper lovely, starts every time (even in Winter), and is the sort of car that makes you happy sit inside and just be alive!”

This car was originally registered on 2nd April 1952 as a Bentley Mk VI Saloon. The car was used as a saloon until it was sold to renowned Bentley collector Charles Teall. A partnership was formed between Teall and David Simpson and as a result two similar, hand-beaten, MK VI specials were created in 1973. As detailed in the book ‘Bentley and Bentley Specials’ by Ray Roberts, by taking the standard MK VI chassis the original wheelbase was retained to facilitate occasional 4-seater usage. “The whole cruciform structure was moved back, thus completely retaining the rigidity required to ensure correct operation of the independent front suspension. Original shock absorbers were used on a lowered suspension, achieving a finished sleek scuttle height of only 3’ 4” using 15” wire wheels. A compression ratio of 6:4:1 and a six-branch stainless steel exhaust enables the 4 ½ Litre engine to cruise up to 115mph on the track. The drive is taken through a standard Crewe gearbox

but the rear axle uses a 3.077 continental ratio for high-speed touring.”

Mr Teall used chassis number B351NY, then registered as CEX14, extensively throughout the 1970s both for general use and for competition in Bentley Drivers Club and VSCC meetings. The car has gone on to take part in more than 30 events since it was completed. This example is extremely well regarded and of course well known to the Bentley Drivers Club. The car subsequently came into the ownership of a former chairman of the Bentley Drivers Club, who purchased it for his son-in-law as ‘the best car available.’ The current owner then bought the car and has spared no expense in maintaining the vehicle correctly. A bill for over £3,000 can be found in the history file from August 2012 detailing various recommissioning works carried out by renowned specialists JSWL Classics.

The car comes complete with an operational hood, tonneau cover and UK registration certificate. Retaining all of its original mechanicals and chassis, this stunning Bentley offers its next owner the mouth-watering opportunity to relive the car’s past and return to competition. Alternatively, it is just as capable for long distance touring events, which the current owner has thoroughly enjoyed over the years. “I did almost 500 miles in one day last winter with no hood, my lady passenger thought it was a very special way to travel!”

This US Spec 1997 Corvette C5 Targa combines stunning car looks, a ferocious soundtrack and supercar performance into a surprisingly docile package culminating in one of the most underrated and under-appreciated American performance cars on the road today, hence the incredible value for money!

Resplendent in Torch Red colour with contrasting Black leather interior, this Targa-roofed sports car provides the best of both worlds. Surprisingly quiet and potentially docile lid-on motoring, or wind-in-your-hair exposure to the elements if the weatherman permits...

Air conditioning, CD player and Bose sound system, electric memory seats and just 54,000 miles of wear make the cabin a comfortable place to be, whilst ZO6 wheels and tyres, a Borla Stinger exhaust system, private registration, new cold air induction system and the removable Lexan Targa roof

make this a special site for those pedestrians you pass and fellow motorists you leave behind.

Sold with UK V5C registration, existing MOT and road tax, this car is accompanied by a fitted outdoor tailor-made car cover. What’s not to like at today’s guide-price??...

Designed as project ADO15 (Austin Drawing Office project number 15), the Mini came about because of a fuel shortage caused by the 1956 Suez Crisis. Petrol was once again rationed in the UK, sales of large cars slumped, the market for German bubble cars boomed. Leonard Lord, the somewhat autocratic head of BMC, reportedly detested these cars so much that he vowed to rid the streets of them and design a ‘proper miniature car’. Issigonis, who had been working for Alvis, had been recruited back to BMC in 1955 and, with his skills in designing small cars, was a natural for the task. The team that designed the Mini was remarkably small: as well as Issigonis, there was Jack Daniels (who had worked with him on the Morris Minor), Chris Kingham (who had been with him at Alvis), two engineering students and four draughtsmen. Together, by October 1957, they had designed and built the original prototype, which was affectionately named “The Orange Box” because of its colour.

We are informed by the vendor that this Mini Shorty actually began life as a standard Mini City back in 1992. This particular car has been extensively modified both bodily and mechanically, the original engine has been ditched in favour of a 1275 Metro engine which in turn gives this little car a tremendous turn of speed. Nicknamed and badged ‘Shortarse’ this car draws more attention than almost anything on the road. The vendor has also decided to include in the sale the custom made Mini trailer which

makes this a rare opportunity to own a totally unique Mini, sold with an MOT until June 2014 this must surely be one of the most unusual lots available this weekend.

This lovely 1965 Ford Galaxie Fastback 500 epitomises the true-meaning of American Muscle car ownership. By sheer size alone the value that this car offers is unbeaten by anything else on the road today. The two-door pillarless coupe body style gives real presence to the elongated lines of this motorcar, and the striking colour combination makes this a genuine head-turner.

Imported from California in 2009, it was first registered in the UK in June of the same year. Originally a State of California Certificate of Title Black Plate Car, it has recently had a new transmission rebuilt in June 2013. A brand-new custom made stainless steel exhaust system was also fitted in July of this year and since this time, a 4-barrel Holly Carb has been fitted and professionally tuned giving the 6.4litre V8 real potency. New front suspension kit was fitted in July

also adding to the replacement brakes from 2010 giving the new owner confidence in the usability of this American classic.

This wonderful Galaxie is fitted with 5-spoke US Rallye Wheels, but is sold with original wheels and fitted tyres, plus Ford dog-bowl hub caps. There is an extensive history file which accompanies this car, itself a good all-round solid rust-free car with waxoyled chassis, no rust, and bright chromework.

Two seats, a soft top and rear-wheel drive are the three ingredients that form the basis of a recipe for success. Add in a dash of affordability, a pinch of cute styling and lashings of handling prowess and you’re well on your way to a Michelin Star winning banquet of a car!

When Mazda designed its MX-5 it kept things simple. The concept was to recreate a classic British sports car of days gone by - a modern interpretation of a Lotus Elan or MGB - and boy did they crack it! As only the Japanese can, they took an idea that we had and made it even better - and over the years buyers have lapped it up.

This particular MX5 is one of 40 that were ever manufactured and called the ‘Tokyo Limited’. There were 20 manual cars and 20 automatics, specification included Brilliant Black paintwork, cream leather interior with

alcantara blue suede dash, air conditioning, tan coloured soft top, highly polished spoke alloys, chrome door mirrors, polished tread plates and a sports steering wheel, all of which made this a very high spec MX5.

We are informed that this beautifully presented car was previously owned by a lady vicar (honestly!). It benefits from a recent major service and cambelt change by a recognised MX5 specialist along with a brand new MOT. The car drives superbly and looks absolutely stunning, these cars offer that rare combination of great looks with ease of maintenance as well, a great way into classic car ownership.

This is a genuine 1966 850 cc Mk 1 Austin Mini. The 37,800 miles is believed genuine and the car is of course tax exempt. It comes with a current MOT.

This car was recommissioned three years ago after being stored for many years. Taken back to bare metal with the oiginal sills and body, the paint is in excellent condition. Shut lines are faultless, as one would expect for a car so original. Finished in the original colour of Tweed Grey with an old English white roof. The interior is in great condition with seats from a Mk II Mini but they are far superior to the originals.

Here is some additional information that may answer some questions you may have:

Cooper S steel wheels and the original period Lucas spot lights

Fresh MOT

Four former keepers

Hydro suspension

A couple of patches have been welded in the floor, so the floor-pan is all sorted and solid.

All original panels and sills.

New brake and clutch cylinders, brake shoes and brake fluid.

New radiator.

Due to the age of the car we cannot guarantee the mileage is genuine, however it has to be the quietest, smoothest A Series engine we have ever heard, which makes us think it really is a very low mileage car.

Chrome is nice and presentable and the car is on the button and ready to go.

This really exceptional E-Type has just been completed after a four-year ground up restoration. Chassis #20746 is a numbers matching UK car which had an engine replacement by Jaguar within its first 12 months. It has a heritage certificate recording this, it comes with extensive history, an eye-watering invoice file and the original buff log book. The first owner of this lovely Jaguar was famed 60’s comedian, Charlie Drake, best known for his TV shows Charlie Drake In... and The Charlie Drake Show, or perhaps best remembered for his opening catchphrase “Hello, my darlings!”

The restoration of this car has not been completed to a concours standard as the intention was to build a smart and usable E-Type which, when professionally sorted, would be reliable and fun to use. Unfortunately, some short time before the end of the restoration the vendor’s situation changed, and the car must now be offered for sale with just a few hundred miles completed since the restoration. The car is reported to be running very well, but she needs to continue to be run-in up to the 1,000 mile mark so potential buyers are advised to take it easy for the first few hundred miles.

All aspects of this car were renewed or refurbished. Invoices for new parts alone amount to over £15,000 and more than

200 photographs document the restoration. The body shell was taken to bare metal with glass and trim out and doors off. It was subject to a full re-spray in the Red paint you see, including the underside. At this time it was also fully dynamated to reduce interior temperatures.

The six-cylinder, 4.2 litre engine was fully rebuilt by VSE, Jaguar Engine Specialists of Powys. Major cooling upgrades, electronic ignition and fuel pump were fitted, the carburettors overhauled, stainless steel exhaust fitted and six branch manifold also fitted. By the auction, the standard air box will be refitted to the car.

The gearbox and rear axle were stripped and refurbished with new clutch and cylinder fitted. The brakes were fully overhauled including an upgrade to 4-pot brakes and copper brake lines. The suspension was stripped and rebuilt with new poly bushes and new Spax adjustable shocks and springs, and finally, new steering rack fitted. The wheels and tyres are new with 6” chrome wire wheels and correct 205 tyres.

The interior, which is finished in black leather, has been fully refurbished making it a very pleasant place to be and all the gauges and switches have been restored or renewed. E-Type cabins are renowned for becoming very warm, particularly on long journeys, so the body-coloured Webasto roof offers some relief from this. The electrics all behave and work as they should thanks to a new wiring loom and upgraded headlights have been fitted.

Sold with current MOT test certificate and V5C registration document, this is a very sensibly priced and masterfully restored E-Type that could cost significantly more than the guide-price to undertake again.

A decade on from its final Le Mans win the GT40 had become firmly established as one of the all-time great classic high performance sports cars. This led to an increased demand for unmolested originals and the start of a replica building industry. With just 107 GT40s being constructed at Ford’s Advanced Vehicles Slough factory between 1965 and 1972, it’s hardly surprising that a cottage industry of independent manufacturers arose to satisfy demand for this iconic car. One such manufacturer was the Penn Motor Company who, in the hands of former salon car champion Gordon Mayer, quickly gained a reputation for building the best replicas that money could buy.

Purchased by the vendor in 2006, with only 530 miles on the clock, this particular GTD 40 was built in 1995 and is an exact replica of the 1966 MK 1 Le Mans winning GT40 and is painted in US racing colours. We are informed that this car is built to the highest standard and all panels are made from the original moulds. It can be used as a competition car but we are informed it is also a very capable road car. Whether it’s trundling through small villages with that fabulous exhaust noise echoing off stonework or pressing on out on the open road, it’s an incredible experience and an exclusive one at that.

The engine is a 4942cc, commonly known as the 302 small block , this is mated to an 820 Holly carburettor with duel fuel pumps, filters and tanks. It comes with the original GTD build manual, wiring diagrams and current loadings, performance figures and graphs. It also has all those important MOT certificates from when it was purchased in 1996 which warrant the 13700 miles. It is still as original today as the day it was built in 1995 and has been maintained to a high standard by its current owner. Sold with a full 12 months MOT, this car really does offer the meanest, leanest, hardiest and fastest road experience ever, not to mention it’s incredible looks ... this really is an automotive icon.

The Porsche 911 is a timeless design and the car dominated its class as soon as it was launched in September 1963. The name ‘Targa’ came from the Targa Florio road race in Sicily, in which Porsche had notable success: 11 victories in total. Porsche had, at one point, thought that the U.S. Safety Administration would outlaw fully open convertibles so came up with an ingenious approach to the first soft-top 911, the Targa sporting a hefty roll-over bar to protect the occupants in the event of an inversion, together with removable roof and rear hood sections, which were stowable in the boot.

Introduced for the 1984 model, the Porsche 911 3.2, replaced the 911 3.0 SC. It shared the same body and chassis with a number of detail improvements.

Although it remained an air-cooled ‘flat six’, the ‘3.2’ was 80% new and incorporated an effective cam chain tensioner and associated lubrication system that at last addressed a perennial 911 shortcoming. With 231bhp on tap the new ‘boxer’ motor endowed the Carrera with a level

of performance approaching that of the original 911 Turbo of 1974, the bald statistics being a 0-60mph time of 5.3 seconds and a top speed of 152mph.

First registered in the UK in May 1985 this particular Targa looks striking in white with black interior and has only covered 74.000 miles (speedo reads 49k as was replaced in 2000) from new and is presented in exceptional condition throughout.

This most desirable ‘soft-top’ has only had two owners, the current owners having owned it since 1987. The original purchase receipt from 1987 is with the paperwork.

A no expense spared renovation was carried out in March 2000 when there was over £12,000 spent on a complete sympathetic renovation by a Porsche specialist, the car has done 26,000 miles since then. All MOT’s are available from 1988 which confirm the true mileage, together with all receipts from new.

Contained in the history file is a current MOT valid for 11 months, current road fund licence, complete original handbook, paperwork and Porsche tool kit.

This Porsche 911 Targa embodies the best elements of versatile all-weather motoring and legendary sports car performance, all in one very desirable and immensely enjoyable package.

The Thunderbird was Ford’s response to General Motors and their Chevrolet Corvette. When introduced in 1955 it outsold the more expensive Corvette by 24:1 as a direct result of its clean styling, creature comforts and V8 refinement. Now rightly becoming recognised as a “blue oval icon” the model now features in many serious and noted collections.

This particular car was built in 1956 with the 312 cubic inch engine connected to a 3 speed manual gearbox with power brakes and power steering. It was totally restored in a ‘frame-off’ restoration carried out by Stefano Landi in Italy about 4 years ago. It has covered just 4,000 miles since then. There is a comprehensive photographic record of this restoration with evidence to support the full engine and transmission rebuild, which included new pistons and valves etc.

Additionally the brakes, electrics and wiring, battery, chrome, lights and carpets were either replaced or reconditioned. The body was stripped, restored and freshly repainted along with new upholstery, seats, wheels and tyres, the white soft top was replaced, the suspension rebuilt with new dampers, a new fuel tank was fitted along with a full exhaust system and new radiator and cooling system.

The car was painstakingly restored to the original specification in order to preserve the originality of the car and therefore all parts have been replaced, re-chromed or painted to the original factory specification.

The car also attained an A.S.I. certificate gold plate (awarded by the Italian Historic Car Association) after completion. Now ready to be enjoyed this summer, the car offers a great deal of fun and it has promising potential for long term investment for the future.

The Lotus Elan was first introduced in 1962 as a roadster and then as a coupé version in 1965. Over the years the Elan evolved into the Series 4, which was introduced in 1968. The S4 model benefited from a range of subtle upgrades along with the more noticeable upgraded body-shell that was slightly thinner and lighter than the earlier S3’s. It also had flared wheel arches allowing for wider wheels.

The Elan was technically advanced with its twin-cam 1558cc engine, 4-wheel disc brakes and all independent suspension. It could reach 60mph in just 7.8 seconds and hit a top speed of 122mph. SE variants featured an increased power output of 118bhp and an upgraded close ratio gearbox. It is estimated that fewer than 1,200 of these cars remain on the roads today. The lightweight, powerful and agile performance make the Elan a great car to drive and even today there are few cars more satisfying to drive.

This particular Lotus Elan is a cabriolet S4, SE model that was first registered in 1969. Previously supplied by Paul Matty Sportscars in 2005, the car has passed through just two hands since this time.

Throughout its life this Elan has benefited from consistent maintenance which has included a replacement chassis and a full engine rebuild by Oselli Power. More recently, the car has received further significant work including a full re-spray in the original yellow colour, along with the fitment of a new hood, windscreen and professionally refurbished wheels.

Accompanying the car is a history file, which includes many invoices from marque specialists, including invoices from the renowned specialist Paul Matty Sportscars dating back to 1990, along with previous service records, MOTs, and an original owner’s manual.

As a result of this Elans continuous restoration work it is presented in truly lovely condition. This car is ready to be enjoyed all summer long whilst the fitment of the new roof allows you to keep dry through all those summer showers!

Lot 182

The fully restored Pontiac GTO offered here is a rare sight in the UK. To many it epitomises true muscle car motoring, and why wouldn’t it? The 6.4L big block V8 engine was made more powerful with ‘Tri-Power’ carburation (3 two-barrel Rochester 2G carburettors) and mated to the four-speed manual gearbox it is capable of getting that power down. The carburettor set-up and linkages are all new and have been carefully tuned to ensure the car runs faultlessly. With the help and support of recognised marque experts, Ames Performance, the vendor has very accurately restored this car.

The paint is completed to a very high standard in a metallic Green that changes colours in different light. All the chrome work has been removed and has either been re-chromed or replaced for new, as were the casings around the headlamps, door handles, mirrors and trim. New rubbers have been fitted to all the doors and shuts; the windscreen has been replaced (eventually! - it did take a few attempts to get it exactly right) and the car sits on original rally wheels shod in performance steel radial tyres. In the interior, the front seats have been re-padded and recovered whilst the rears are original, the dash is all-original and is not cracked or tarnished, there are new carpets and mats throughout, a reproduction deep-dish steering wheel and even the heater and the interior light

actually work! Finally, the vendor sourced the correct 1964/5 Radio at a cost of $900 alone.

Mechanically, the chassis was found to be in superb condition, so to preserve this it has been Waxoyled. The gearbox was rebuilt as part of the restoration and new exhaust system, excluding mufflers, was fitted. Braking, a common weak-point of early Pontiacs is courtesy of disc brakes to all four wheels. It has a full MOT as you would expect and is sold with taxes paid and a V5C registration certificate.

This truly is an exceptional motor car, far rarer than anything from Ford and the true embodiment of what a muscle car should be...

But it carried on the ‘wind in the hair’ tradition of the great British sports car and while by modern standards it is not particularly rapid, in its day its performance was regarded as ‘brisk’. The entire MGB range all used a version of the

1798 cc BMC Series B engine, which was a slightly enlarged version of the 1622cc Series A Engine.

The car we have here today is an early pull-handle example that was first registered on 5th February 1964. The original bill of sale and original BMC service booklet confirm that the car was first sold to a Mr F.C. Johnson of Essex. A further four custodians have owned BTW997B since new and there is a large amount of correspondence between them and various specialists in the history file. In 2011, this car was subject to a body restoration by marque specialists E.E. Holloway in Surrey and it is presented today in excellent condition. Finished in correct Iris Blue with black interior, this little B is supplied with a current MOT until November 2013, 12-volt battery, and the original overdrive gearbox. There is a large history file with bills and receipts for various works carried out.

With many MGB’s on the open market, there is strong supply chain for every conceivable part. Over 500,000 variants of the MGB left the factory, however, you will have to travel a very long way to find an example as fine as this. This B is on the button and ready for sunny spring motoring at its finest.

Chevrolet made the news with a nicely restyled body in 1956, while the model series with the number identifications 150, 210 were carried over unchanged. The Stovebolt six remained standard and the coveted 265 V-8 was again an option. But power-hungry buyers were treated to an even greater V-8, first in the form of the “Super Turbo-Fire” 265, which was rated at a then-hefty 205 horses. This ‘smoking’ small-block was followed in January 1956 by a dual-carburettor option, a 225-horse power screamer borrowed from the Corvette; 60 mph from rest required a scant 8.9 seconds, a sensational achievement for the day, especially at the price, $2,450. A stylish four-door hardtop model joined the Bel Air line-up in 1956, bringing the body style count to seven. Along with the classic two-door Nomad wagon, repeat styles included two and four-door sedans, two-door hardtops and convertibles, and a four-door station wagon.

We are informed that this beautiful 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air Coupé was originally rebuilt to concours condition back in the United States regardless of cost; the restoration was carried out by a recognised classic Chevrolet specialist in New Jersey and as such has been finished to an incredibly high standard. (Please see history file for full specification).

The Tahitian Blue and Silverstone Silver Metallic paintwork can only be described as flawless, we are told this fabulous car was subsequently sold by the famous US auction house ‘Barrett Jackson’ back in 2005 at which point it was then exported to the UK. By the time all the charges had been paid we are told that the then owner had parted with the best part of £117,000. Bearing this figure in mind this beautiful American classic car represents somewhat of a bargain at Silverstone Auctions.

This lovely period 280SL Lefthand drive Mercedes provides quality open-top motoring in a timeless motorcar perhaps most famous for its near bulletproof powerplant. The 2.8L six-cylinder engine is considered by many the favoured in the range as it returns the highest fuel economy, whilst also propelling the car comfortably in modern traffic. The Gold bodywork with matching hard-top and good quality dark hood are all in excellent order. The really lovely chocolate-coloured leather interior is spotless with good carpets to boot. This is an ex-California car from Santa Barbara with no signs of corrosion from which these cars can suffer, but sadly the dashboard top-roll is cracked as can be the case with cars from sunnier climes.

Showing just 128,000miles the car starts first time, runs and drives effortlessly as you would expect from a Mercedes-Benz and still never fails to attract interest on the roads. Sold with MOT to May 2014, V5C registration books showing import in 2012 and a host of bills, handbooks and correspondence from its time in the USA, this is an appreciating car with many more miles of joyful motoring to offer.

A turbo version of the 944 was always on the cards, it boosted the 2.5 litre engine by nearly 60bhp, whilst both the clutch and gearbox were uprated to suit. The chassis got thicker anti-roll bars and four pot brake callipers were fitted. A smooth nose panel and a larger rear spoiler distinguished it from its lesser models. For 1988 a Turbo SE was offered with 250bhp thanks to a larger turbocharger, the transmission was again upgraded and a limited slip diff was fitted along with uprated brakes and Koni dampers. From 1989-1991 the SE specification was adopted for a standard 944 Turbo making it somewhat of a sleeping giant.

This particular 944 Turbo has a superb specification including electric sports seats, cruise control, sports suspension and limited slip differential and Porsche Cup

alloys. The silver paintwork has a deep lustre and panel gaps are reassuringly good throughout. You can sense the build quality in this car from the reassuring thunk of the doors to the high quality finish of the interior; this is clothed in cream leather that’s as supple as the day it was fitted.

We are informed by the vendor that when you want to get serious about pushing on this car is certainly up for it. The result is a crisp, immediate urge accompanied by a strident exhaust note in every gear- there’s no clutch slip and the gearshift is sharp and responsive.

Confidence in service history is essential with this type of car and we are informed that there is a substantial history file with this car, including a recent cambelt service and tensioners.

Track day attrition means few unmolested 944 Turbos survive, which is a shame, because it’s the ultimate evolution of the front engine four cylinder Porsche and one of the most thrilling to drive. To find one is a rare opportunity and it is likely to hold its value if maintained in this condition.

It is difficult to imagine the impact that the Jaguar E-type had when it was launched back in 1961. When the average saloon had a top speed of 70 mph and most of them were desperately dull, the E-Type was an instant sensation, pre-empting computer aided design.

With its top speed of 150 mph and a price tag of £2,196 for the FHC, it was less than half the price of any of its contemporaries from either Italy or Germany. The E-type moved the goal posts and it set an entirely new agenda.

This is a 1969 E-Type FHC 4.2 litre Series 2 2+2 model with an automatic gearbox. It is finished in an unusual, but very period, Yellow colour with a black vinyl interior, both of which are in exemplary order. There are currently fewer than 25,000 miles on the car with this mileage is corroborated in the history which dates from the mid 1980’s. However we cannot be certain that is original mileage is from new. The owners have recently spent money on the car to replace the alternator and water pump and adding high-intensity headlights for night driving. This car further benefits from a stainless steel exhaust and chrome wire wheels.

It is one of the full UK versions with the 2 seats in the back for the children. The car is in all round good condition or better, making it a fine usable example of these iconic Jaguars. Mechanically it is thoroughly sound with excellent oil pressure and is reported to run and drive without fault. It is to be sold with MOT to June 2014 and UK V5C Registration papers.

The SO-23 VW Westfalia camper van offered here was sourced from America in 2004. Our vendor purchased it with the intention of restoring the car to its original factory appearance but with and upgraded engine, gearbox and suspension.

The camper was taken to marque experts Strictly Air-cooled for them to work their magic on the mechanicals and create a highly sorted camper. This included the fitment of a Creative engineering front disc brake conversion, lowered front axle beam and lowered shock absorbers all round. At the back of the camper a Creative Engineering independent rear suspension conversion kit was fitted which greatly improves the handling and performance. Type 2 bay window drive shafts have been fitted to the Creative Engineering suspension arms on fully adjustable spring plates; this allows you to easily adjust the ride height

with a spanner and an Allen Key. New rear brake drums have also been fitted along with new hoses all round.

A 1641 engine dressed in chrome and fitted with street cam and Twin 40mm Solex carb kit fitted provides the power mated to a Karmann Ghia A.T code IRS gearbox. This was fitted due to its high gearing which allows a comfy 70mph motorway cruising speed and we are told will do much more!

The engine is so new that it is still 300 miles from being fully run in so Strictly Air Cooled have offered to complete its last service/oil change free of charge for the winner once it has covered 1000 miles. It’s had a full service MOT and is ready to go on holiday today but remember no more than 55mph for the next 300 miles!

It’s been completely rewired using a new wiring loom and we are told that everything works exactly as it should. A Retro Sound radio is fitted to retain its period look whilst allowing for an iPod connection, USB ports and remote control. A 240v mains hook up has also been installed so when you are on a campsite you can still use your creature comforts and plug in your hair dryer.

The E24 6 series was produced from 1976-1989 and was the replacement for the CS and CSL E9 coupés. Like the E9 coupés, the early bodies of the 6 were manufactured by Karmann until production was moved in-house by BMW. It was the proven E12 5 series that provided the chassis and much of the mechanicals for the E24. Dubbed the ‘Bavarian Ferrari’ the 6 series was a high end two door luxury sports coupé. The 628 model was produced until 1987 and was a budget model for the European market. The 633 Csi featured the first generation of DME and ABS brakes were available as an option. The following year, the 635 CSi received the same DME as the 633 Csi.

The main update in 1982 was the entire reworking of the body which included a new front and rear end, which achieved a lighter and stronger vehicle. ABS brakes were now standard in all E24 models. A new 3430 cc engine was placed in the 635 CSi along with new engine management, DME II. Upgraded to the engine version from the seven series in June of 1982, the 635 models now utilized less fuel due to improved computer control systems. The 633 CSi was no longer available in Europe in 1982, and the following year was the final production run.

This stunning looking car is finished in Lachs Silver and has covered only 92,000 miles from new. It has had 3 owners since new and has a full service history. It is supplied with 12 months MOT and is described by the owner as in very good condition. For a condition report, please feel free to contact the Silverstone Auctions team.

The MGA was a sports car produced by the MG division of The British Motor Corporation from 1955 to 1962. It replaced the older “T-type” cars and represented a complete styling break from the older vehicles. The ‘A’ was officially launched at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 1955. Only 5,869 cars were sold on the home market, giving the MGA the highest export percentage of any British car. It was replaced by the MGB in May 1962.

This little MGA Mk I 1600 is finished in Chariot Red with matching red interior. The car is described by the vendor as in superb order throughout. Most MGA models were exported to places such as California in the 1950s and 1960s. However, this example is an original UK right-hand drive model with a lovely history file. The car is finished on steel wheels and has been maintained by marque experts to ensure that everything on the car is functioning correctly and ready for use. Original home-market MGAs don’t come on to the market too often and this car represents classic British motoring for a most reasonable outlay.

The Volkswagen Beetle was produced originally as an economic and robust little car’ for the people’. Ferdinand Porsche was instructed to build a car that was capable of transporting two adults and three children at a speed of 100 km/h. The VW Beetle started production in 1938, finishing a massive 65 years later in 2003. It was designed to be mechanically simple, economical to maintain, robust and with as little to go wrong as possible. This probably underpins why so many Beetles are still on the road and why it has its reputation for reliability and sturdiness. Production continued in Mexico until the New Beetle was introduced.

We are informed by the vendor that this particular Beetle was subject to a 2 year home restoration, new parts included new floor pans, bulk-head heater channel seals,

new front and rear wings and new inner and outer wing sections with the bodywork being finished in original Volkswagen Sea Blue.

Mechanically the engine has been completely overhauled including new piston rings, a new carburettor, new clutch and a refurbished gearbox with Scat quick shift. Likewise the interior has been completely re-trimmed including new headlining, re-covered seats, a new carpet set and new window rubbers have been fitted all round.

This really is a very well sorted car and as a result the beautifully clean engine runs extremely well and starts instantly. There are no noises or leaks and the gear changes are as good as they can be. The unusual slightly offset pedals activate a sharp clutch. The vendor also informs us that this Beetle has been set up with strength and sturdiness in mind.

To complete the look the car benefits from the fitting of quality EMPI alloy wheels shod with quality rubber all round. You rarely get back the cost of a restoration, so why not take advantage of somebody else’s hard work, take it to shows or just enjoy the drive, either way this is a compelling purchase for any Beetle enthusiast.

The MGC was a 2912cc, straight-6 version of the original MGB that was sold from 1967 and stayed in production through to August 1969. In the twin SU carburettor form used in the M C, the engine produced 145bhp at 5250rpm. The body shell needed considerable revision around the engine bay and to the floor pan, but externally the only differences were a distinctive bonnet bulge to accommodate the relocated radiator and the teardrop bulge that was needed to clear the carburettors. It had different brakes from the MGB, 15 inch wheels, lower geared rack and pinion and special torsion bar suspension with telescopic dampers. Like the MGB, it was available as a coupé and roadster. An overdrive gearbox or three-speed automatic gearbox were also available as options. The car was capable of 120mph and a 0-60mph time of 10.0 seconds.

1968 MG C RoadsterRegistration: VMC 492G

Chassis Number: GCN11265G

Engine Number: 1146

Estimate (£): 10,000 - 12,000

Presented in the best and classic MG colourway of tartan red with black interior this MG C is in lovely overall condition. Having stood for some time the car has recently come out of is hiding place and had some reconditioning ready for use once again. Fitted with an automatic gearbox this makes it a great car for long distance touring as well as making it a very usable classic car.

The MG C is an often overlooked MG model however the larger engine and striking bonnet power bulge makes it stand out from its smaller brother the MGB.

Series 2 Jaguar E-Types that were produced from 1969 to 1971 can be identified by their open headlights that no longer have glass covers, a wrap-around rear bumper, re-positioned and larger front indicators that have moved under the heavier bumpers and the tail lights which also moved below the rear bumper. The cooling is much improved helped by the enlarged ‘mouth’, Series 2 cars also feature twin electric fans and finally uprated brakes. The engine is easily identified by the change from smooth polished cam covers to ones with a ribbed appearance, yet the original triple SU carburettors remain. The interior and dashboard were also redesigned with flick switches being substituted by rocker switches to meet U.S regulations. This striking fixed-head E Type Coupé has a certain look about it. It sits really well in an almost poised fashion and has a character that many imported cars lack. The car is reported to have had only three owners from new and has seemingly travelled just 52,500 miles in its time.

Though a little thick in places, the Carmen Red paint is completed to a high finish. Were it mine I’d mop the paint back to curb any of the orange peel effect that may follow. The chrome-work is in all round good condition, and the door, bonnet and boot shuts are excellent. The interior is absolutely as original though perhaps looking a little untidy in places. Again, were it mine I’d consider re-colonising the seats to preserve its current patina.

1969 Jaguar E-Type Series II Fixedhead CoupéRegistration: n/a

Chassis Number: 1R26715

Engine Number: 7R120419

Estimate (£): 28,000 - 34,000

Mechanically, the car behaves very well. The matching numbers engine sounds strong, shows good pressure and is a pleasure to drive. This is perhaps in part due to the addition of triple SU carburettors which improve the pick-up and performance greatly. There is lots of history that accompanies this car, most notably, a host of invoices relating to restorative works from 1996 - 2000. More than $30,000 was spent in this period and the result is very pleasing. Most recently, new wire wheels and tyres and been fitted.

Imported from the USA in September of 2012 but with full EU taxes paid, this car has American title and a full UK MOT to February 2014 making it ready for registration.

In production for an impressive 18 years, the R107 Mercedes-Benz SL has style and panache. Introduced in 1971, the R107 SL was blessed with timeless good looks, while legendary Mercedes-Benz build quality ensured a loyal following from day one. The solidity of the engineering can be felt from the moment you close the door with a satisfying clunk. The 107 chassis was also the longest running of the Mercedes family, finally leaving production in 1989. These days the SL is as sought after as ever, meaning prices have remained strong, but a good example is still hard to beat.

The story of the Beetle is well documented and known. Wilhelm Karmann, or simpley Karmann, was the largest independent vehicle manufacturing company in Germany. Renowned for their cabriolets, and used extensively by the VW Group, Porsche, Mercedes, Renault and Chrysler throughout the 20th century.

This charming example was delivered to a respected VW dealer in 1978 and kept in storage until 1983. Eventually he succumbed to his daughter’s persuasive ways and registered the vehicle for her in 1984. She covered 9,700 happy miles up to 1997 and sold it to the current vendor. He to, a franchised main dealer, has kept it on display in

his showroom to this day and it shows a very genuine 10138 miles; service book stamps and MOTs to prove. The vehicle still has the original tyres as further evidence to its authenticity, however the vendor is offering the Beetle with a new set of tyres to ensure safety.

This is a genuinely original 2 owner vehicle, it has not been restored or modified and quite possibly the very best example available on the open market.

Motoring in the mid 1980’s seemed to be epitomised by loud and lairy hot-hatches and coupés, but few were beaten by a marque as revered as Alfa Romeo, and in truth, few really struck the chord like the GTV/6. Whether it was the quad headlights, the streaked back body shape, the side-hugging Recaro bolstered seats or maybe even the mesh headrests (!), the fact was that if you weren’t at the wheel of a GTV/6, you weren’t even a contender!

This car benefits from having the one-piece dashboard that is more synonymous with Series III cars, the pinstriped Recaro seats, and perhaps most notably, an Alex Jupe conversion on the engine to an Alfa 75 3.0 litre power-plant that is mated to a short-shift gearbox. The standard wheels are shod with Pirelli P6 tyres and are good all-round.

The Porsche 924 was produced from 1976 to 1988 as a two-door, 2+2 coupé replacing the 912. In production terms, the 924 was the first Porsche model powered by a water-cooled, front-mounted engine. This arrangement, coupled with rear wheel drive was normal for most other manufacturers, but it was unusual for Porsche having previously only used mid or rear-mounted engines all of which had been air-cooled.

This extremely early 924 was imported from the U.S.A in 1993. The original service booklet and handbook are supplied with details of the first owner, who registered the car in 1978. This is a very early car denoted by manual wind windows, no wiper on rear window, early style steering wheel, early door mirrors and 1977 date stamped alloy wheels. Past invoices detail its service history in America and there are more recent invoices from work done here in the UK. The history file has MOT certificates that date back to 2006.

Having covered a believed genuine 53,750 miles from new, this economical little Porsche is presented in fine condition. A recent inspection by marque specialists P.I.E Performance Porsche details a full condition report on the car, which will be available at the auction for viewing.

The MGB Roadster was launched in 1962 and was regarded as a relatively modern design at the time it utilised a monocoque structure, instead of a ‘body on frame’ construction. The lightweight design reduced manufacturing costs while adding to the vehicles overall strength. Wind up windows and a weatherproof soft top came as standard and the comfortable cockpit offered decent legroom along with a good driving position. At the time it was launched the performance was considered brisk with a 0-60mph of around 11 seconds and the handling was sporting and predictable. It was a showroom success for the Austin Rover Group.

Offered here is a cherished and well-maintained example. Newly reupholstered black leather seats with red piping

and the MG logo embossed on the headrests. The coachwork is in good condition, and the car is ready for summer use.

Purchased by the current owner in 2005 it has mainly been SORN and in storage; the 706 miles that have been covered since then are backed up by the vast MOT history. Supplied with current V5, fresh MOT, various service bills and the original handbooks this car is ready for a new owner to enjoy some very affordable open top motoring.

Sir Williams Lyons was still very much involved in Jaguar when the first XJ saloon rolled off the line in 1968 swiftly winning the accolade of ‘Car of Year’. It would always be regarded as the flagship model, offering true large saloon interior space, ample rear legroom and a ride that was often described by the press as the best in the world. It became the favoured mode of transport for the Monarchy, the UK Prime Ministers and the like.

When the V12 version was announced in July 1972 it was not only the world’s only mass produced 12 cylinder four door saloon, but the fastest four-seater on the planet giving rise to the tagline, ‘Grace, Space and Pace’. With vivid performance and a top speed over 140mph it combined with a ride quality that was the envy of the luxury car manufacturers. In 1984 the Sovereign name, which was the preserve of Daimler models was transferred to the top of

the range Jaguar. The final evolution of the Series III Jaguar Sovereign is often regarded as the pinnacle of excellence prior to final production in 1992. The engine had the high efficiency (HE) or ‘fireball’ high compression heads that breathed new life in to the turbine smooth V12.

This is a seriously well-presented relatively entry-level classic car with a very attractive guide price entitling the new owner to ‘the-fastest-saloon-in-the-world’ status, albeit it’s no longer 1989 and times have changed...

It remains however a very good quality motorcar benefitting from a recent new headlining, good leather seats and carpeting, plus quality wooden trim. It is reported to run exceptionally well with no visible leaks or mechanical gremlins, however, the air conditioning system does need re-gassing.

Supplied with UK V5C, MOT test certificate and valid road tax, it is accompanied by some service history, most notably from Williamsons of Poole. One of the previous owners was a member of the Dorset Jaguar Owner’s Club so you can comfortably deduce that it has been previously cared for, as supported by various literature and Jaguar handbooks.

Lot 202

The story of the Beetle is well known; it was initially designed to provide cheap transport for the hard working German masses. Built in very small numbers before and during World War II, the Beetle literally rose from the ashes of Volkswagen’s bombed-out Wolfsburg factory to become an instant success in Europe, Britain, America and virtually every other country in the world.

The model evolved through various facelifts and numerous mechanical changes - there were more than 70,000 identifiable modifications - and it provided a platform for other models, including commercial vehicles and sporting derivatives such as those by Karmann Ghia. It was this constant development and attention to detail which allowed the Beetle to maintain its position, and as production raced past the 15,000,000 mark, the Beetle went on to be crowned as the best-selling car of all time.

Imported from sunny California USA this original and rare VW Beetle Triple White was a solid car sourced as a good foundation for an extensive restoration project. The car was stripped back to bare metal and a high quality repaint was undertaken. The Beetle was then rebuilt replacing any worn or damaged parts with genuine VW parts where possible along with refurbishing serviceable parts.

Acclaimed VW trimmer Bernard Newbury trimmed the interior of the car in real leather, the result is fantastic and looks like new. A retro look Becker radio with modern

under-pinnings was also fitted which really adds lovely detail and finishes off the interior.

The engine has largely been kept in its standard configuration but with the addition of an upgraded carburettor kit in the form of twin 40mm Solex carburettors.

Having had over £20,000 spent on the project this Beetle is presented in fantastic ‘like new’ condition and as a result has received honours and praise at many car shows. This is a truly useable show quality car that you can be proud of.

Lot 203

The 124 Sport Spider was marketed by Fiat between 1966 and 1980 having debuted at the November 1966 Turin Motor Show. Designed and manufactured by Italian carrozzeria Pininfarina, more specifically by Sergio Pininfarina. Sergio used the already available designs of the Chevrolet Corvette ‘Rondine’ and Ferrari 275 GTS. The four-cylinder engine was designed by Dan Varo and used in the Spider and Coupé was a double overhead cam, aluminium cross-flow head version of the sedan’s pushrod unit. It started in 1966 with a capacity of 1438cc, progressively increasing to 1608cc in 1970, 1756cc in 1974 and finally 1995cc in 1979. The double overhead cam version was the first mass manufactured DOHC to utilise reinforced rubber timing belts, an innovation that would come into nearly universal use in the decades after its introduction. Uprated versions powered race cars such as the Fiat 131 Mirafiori,

Special T, Lancia Beta Montecarlo, Delta Integrale and many others.

The example offered here is a later 1979 model with the more desirable 1995cc engine fitted; finished in silver with contrasting red interior it looks super. The paintwork is in great condition as the result of a recent respray and with the bumpers not yet fitted it really shows off the shapely Pininfarina body design.

Along with being resprayed recently the car also benefits from a front suspension overhaul with new brakes fitted (which still need bedding in we are told) and replacement black powder coated wheels. The interior was also attended to with the addition of new carpets and a new hood. The vendor tells us the car is mechanically sound but that, in his opinion the engine would benefit from a good service.

Offered at no reserve this is a great opportunity to snap up some bargain Italian flair in great condition with only minor finishing touches needed. Bellissimo!

The golden rule for anyone hoping to buy at auction is to thoroughly inspect the lot you are interested in before bidding, as no warranty or guarantee is given with anything that is sold. For this reason the auction centre is open for viewing prior to each Auction (please check times). All bids are final and irrevocable. Bidder RegistrationYou can bid at auction either in person by attending the sale, by telephone, by leaving a commission bid or live, online. To meet current legislative requirements, you will need to provide proof of identification in the form of a passport or drivers licence and a recent utility bill as proof of address. Credit or debit card details will also be required. When submitting forms in absentia, please try to ensure they reach us no later than 48 hours before the auction is due to take place. How fast will the auctioneer go?The auctioneer will aim to sell approximately 90 lots of Automobilia per hour and 25 – 30 vehicles per hour.

Bidding at Silverstone AuctionsIf you are planning to attend the sale in person, please complete the relevant Bidder Registration Form. Before the sale you will be assigned a paddle number that you will be able to use on the day. Note that entry to the sale is on presentation of the relevant sale catalogue and CarFest entry tickets. Online biddingSilverstone Auctions has partnered with i-Bidder.com to allow you to bid live on sale day from anywhere. Registration for internet bidding is done directly on the i-Bidder.com website. We advise that you register with i-Bidder at least 48 hours before a sale to allow sufficient time for your registration to be approved. Using i-bidder carries an additional buyers premium charge of 1% for Motor cars and 3% for automobilia.i-bidder.com

Telephone biddingShould you be unable to attend the auction on sale day, telephone bidding will still allow you to bid live. On the day of the sale, a member of Silverstone Auctions will contact you, usually a few lots prior to your selected lots and will guide you through the process. To register a telephone bid, please complete the relevant Absentee Bidder Registration form. It is important that you provide us with alternative contact numbers to ensure that we are able

to contact you on the day. If, for any reason, we are unable to contact you on any of the telephone numbers you submitted, you may wish to turn your bid into a commission bid by complet-ing the appropriate information on the form. This however is entirely optional. Note that we do not operate telephone bids for lots with a low estimate value below £500.

Commission biddingIf you think you might not be contactable on the day of the sale, you may leave with us a commission bid. To submit a commission bid, please complete our Absentee Bidder Registration form indicating, for each lot you wish to bid on, the maximum amount you are willing to bid up to (excluding commission and VAT). We will execute your bid as low as possible on your behalf.

CataloguesCatalogues can be purchased online or by contacting our catalogue subscription department (+44 (0)1926 691141).
