Silverback is a one brand, one company international enterprise. In 2004

the brand Silverback was founded by Deon Retief, entrepreneur, visionary

and strategist. With over 20 years industry experience and conducted

extensive brand studies worldwide and visited over 400 retailers in

40 countries.

Silverback Technologies is a privately held company with a design

innovation centre in Friedrichshafen, design and test lab in Cape Town as

well as a resource facility in Asia.

All our products are subjected to torturous testing in the Silverback Lab (in consultation with professional design consultants) and by our riders on the road, dirt, streets and ramps across the planet. Silverback product designers gladly accept this challenge and turn to the Silverback Lab for new components, materials and fabrics. SILVERBACK DESIGN ENGINEERING Silverback is pro-actively engaged with other markets and suppliers in the search for better components, materials and fabrics. Our ‘Superior Graphics Implementation’ applies to all of our products, resulting in cutting edge graphics across our entire range. DAS KONZEPTSilverback-Labordesigner und -Ingenieure erfanden ein einzigartiges Doppelfederungssystem, das für hochleistungsfähige und anspruchsvolle Mountainbike-Gebiete optimiert ist. Dieses Design wurde von dem Bedürfnis neue Gelegenheiten zu identifizieren, reelle Lösungen zu schaffen und innovative Designmöglichkeiten zu formalisieren.

Es gibt es eine Kräfteverteilung, die auf den Stoss in der Federung angewandt wird. Zuerst die Erklärung der verschiedenen Typen der Kräfteverteilung:

PROGRESSIV: Hier wird die Federwirkung während der Bewegung immer stärker und übt immer mehr Kraft über das hintere Luft-Federbein aus.FALLENDES VERHÄLTNIS: die Federwirkung sinkt während dem Federweg und übt immer weniger Kraft über das hintere Luft-Federbein aus.LINEAR: die Federwirkung bleibt immer die gleiche während der gesamten Bewegung.

Wir haben das IDS aus folgenden Gründen entwickelt:

Im ersten Teil der Bewegung verwenden wir die progressive Federwirkung, um ein glattes und ansprechendes Gefühl für die Federung zu sichern. Das gibt ein gleichbleibendes Gefühl für die Federung.

Nach den ersten 40 mm des Federwegs, ändert sich die Federwirkung zum fallenden Verhält-nis, um ein durchschlagen der Federung im hartem Terrain zu verhindern. Das Ergebnis ist eine sehr weiche anfängliche Stufe der Federung mit einem verbesserten Fortgang, die sich anfühlt als ob einem in anspruchsvollem Gelände nie der Federweg ausgeht.

THE CONCEPTSilverback Lab designers and engineers have designed a unique dual suspension system optimised for high-performance and challenging mountain biking environments. This design was driven by a need to identify fresh opportunities, create real solutions and formalise innovative design options.

Finally there is the leverage ratio applied to the shock throughout the travel of the suspension. First a little explanation of the different types of leverage ratio:

PROGRESSIVE: This is where the leverage ratio gets higher and higher throughout the travel and exerts more leverage over the rear air shock.FALLING RATE: As per the name, the leverage ratio falls through the travel and exerts less leverage over the rear air shock. LINEAR: Again as per name this means the leverage ratio stays the same throughout the travel and is neutral.

We have designed IDS using the first two for the following reasons:

In the first part of the travel we use a progressive leverage ratio to ensure a very smooth and responsive feel by the leverage ratio rising to overpower the rising spring rate of the rear air shock. This gives an almost linear feel to the suspension. After the first 40mm of travel the leverage swings to a falling leverage ratio, thereby resisting the tendency to over utilize travel or worse yet, to constantly bottom out the suspension in very rough terrain. The result is a very supple initial stage of travel with a later stage that feels like you will never run out of travel in challenging terrain.

Silverback’s exclusive IDS (Intelligent Design System) is a truly unique engineering feat. IDS includes no superfluous working parts, has superb traction and control, even across the most trying terrain. IDS exhibits all the benefits of small-bump suppleness without any unnecessary energy-sapping bobbing.

In addition, IDS includes a one-piece rear triangle with no pivots near the rear wheel axle. This results in a robust, torsionally stiff rear-end that translates into an energy-efficient performance with noticeable power advantages. IDS optimises riding stability during acceleration and greater control on single-track. The motion is direct and precise. This superbly tuned suspension and high torsional stiffness, makes a uniquely effective system.

Silverback Technologies offers a warranty policy to all alloy framesets aswell as our carbon aero technology framesets (CAT), on both road and mountain bikes, subject to stated and listed conditions and guidelines.

Silverback bikes are sold exclusively through our network of authorized dealers only:

1. Ovaltech alloy - Limited lifetime warranty2. Generation Frame Technology - Limited lifetime warranty3. CAT/Carbon frames - 3 Years4. Mercury Frames / BMX Frames - 3 Years (Excl Suspension Forks)5. Paintwork and Decals - The paintwork and decals are warranted for one year.6. Original Parts - All original parts on the bicycle are warranted for a period of one year from the date of

purchase. 7. Original parts - In the case of wear and tear parts, only three months warranty applies, unless otherwise

specified by original manufacturer.8. Suspension forks (Front & Rear) - These shall be covered by the stated warranty of their original

manufacturers.

Conditions1. This warranty is against defects in materials and workmanship in the bicycle frame and is expressly limited to

the repair or replacement of a defective frame, fork or defective part and is sole remedy of the warranty.2. This warranty applies only to the original owner and is not transferable and extends from the date of purchase.3. Claims must be made through an authorized Silverback dealer and proof of purchase is required.4. The warranty does not cover normal wear and tear, improper assembly or follow-up maintenance, installation

of parts or accessories not originally intended or compatible with the bicycle as sold, damage or failure due to accident, misuse or neglect, or modification of frame, fork or components.

5. This warranty does not apply where a Silverback bicycle has been modified in any way from its original specifications.

6. Register warranty online - www.silverbacklab.com7. This warranty applies only to bicycles that are assembled by an authorised dealer. Please note this warranty

does NOT cover any bicycle that is assembled by a consumer. Disclaimer Please refer to your owner’s manual regarding the use of your bicycle. Do not attempt to duplicate any stunts

that are beyond your capabilities. Always wear the appropriate safety gear. Silverback Technologies shall not be responsible for incidental or consequential damages.

CARBON AERO TECHNOLOGY (CAT) Silverback Carbon Frames are engineered to withstand high stress, fatigue and peak performance In the event

of localized damage due to a crash or accident, Silverback encourages a replacement as the damage can affect the strength of the frame.

Silverback provides a replacement program valid for 2 years from date of purchase, for the original owner, providing the consumer a frame at a reduced price.

Dealer Responsibility1. Damage to carbon products can be difficult to visually identify.2. It is the responsibility of the dealer to inspect frame and report to Silverback Technologies.3. Any external surface damage like dents, chips, factures, gouges and fraying could be an indication of damage

to the composite structure.4. Please refer to dealer for inspection.5. Improper tightening or over-torquing of clamps, bolts, front derailleur’s to frames, seatposts, stems and cages

can result to damage and reduce strength. In this instance, warranty policy does not apply.

Federgabeln (Vorder- & Hinterfedergabel) – Diese werden von der festgelegten Garantie ihres ursprünglichen Herstellers gedeckt.

Bedingungen1. Diese Garantie deckt alle Fehler am Material und an der Arbeit am Fahrradrahmen und ist ausdrücklich auf die Reparatur oder den Ersatz

des fehlerhaften Rahmens, der Gabel oder des fehlerhaften Teils beschränkt und die Garantie ist nur insofern als Rechtsmittel gütig.2. Diese Garantie gilt nur dem ursprünglichen Besitzer, kann nicht übertragen werden und ist ab Verkaufsdatum gültig.3. Ansprüche müssen von bevollmächtigten Händlern geltend gemacht werden, und der Kaufnachweis muss vorgewiesen werden.4. Die Garantie erstreckt sich nicht auf normalen Verschleiß, falschen Zusammenbau oder anschließende Wartung, den Einbau von Teilen

oder Zubehörteilen, die nicht ursprünglich für das Fahrrad geplant waren oder nicht damit kompatibel sind, auf Schaden oder Defekte auf Grund von Unfällen, unsachgemäßem Gebrauch oder Vernachlässigung, oder Abänderung des Rahmens, der Gabel oder der Teile.

5. Die Garantie gilt nicht, wenn ein Silverback-Fahrrad von seinen ursprünglichen Spezifikationen abgeändert wurde.6. Die Garantie kann Online registriert werden bei - www.silverbacklab.com7. Jede oberflächliche Beschädigung, wie Dellen, abgeschlagene Stellen, Bruchstellen, Rillen und Abnutzungen, kann auf Schäden an der

Verbundkonstruktion hindeuten.4. Für eine Überprüfung richten Sie sich bitte an Ihren Händler. 5. Falsches Straffen oder Überdrehen von Klammern, Bolzen, vorderem Umwerfer am Rahmen, Sattelstütze, Lenkervorbau oder (Was-

serflaschen-)Halterung können ernsthafte Schäden und Schwachstellen verursachen. Derartige Schäden werden nicht von der Garantie gedeckt. Händler müssen die Bedingungen der Garantie einhalten.
