Dear Highstepper Officer Hopeful,

I am proud of all young dancers who express interest in auditioning for an officer position. If selected for officer, it will be one of the biggest honors you will ever receive. Whether you make it or not, trying out for officer will help you grow and mature as a drill team member and as a person. The new officers have an enormous job for the following year. The new officers will need to set many goals that lead them to achieving an outstanding drill team.

Being an officer is an honor. However, officers who strive for respect, responsibility, and dedication will have honor. Officers set good examples, in all respects, always. You will keep many long hours and probably shed many tears. I tell you these things not to scare you, but to remind you that for everything good-you must work!

I expect more initiative from officers. As director, I will not accept disappointment. With cooperation, planning, and respect, we will get along wonderfully.

Attached are all the officer candidate requirements, officer online applications, and scheduled dates. During the next two weeks, read through all the materials with your parents and finalize your decision about becoming a Highstepper Officer Hopeful. On or before January 6, 2015, please submit your online applications. Also, March 4, 2016 all candidates will present their notebooks for evaluations. The strong requirements and procedures for officer tryouts will allow for the selection of talented dancers’ who are also excellent leaders and facilitators.

I appreciate your interest and initiative. I am looking forward to working with you and even more to a magnificent 2016-2017 season.

Stepping 2 Dreams,

Mrs. Monica Lyon
