One of the highlights of our Gala Dinner on Friday 28th November will be the silent auction. Even if you can’t make the event you can still bid on one of the prizes and be in with a chance of winning. You may be outbid on the night by other members so the more you bid, the better your chances.Prizes include a British Lions shirt signed by Leigh Halfpenny, a Chefs table lunch for six at Petrus by Gordon Ramsey, a week for two in France, a St Andrews getaway and golf for two and many more. A full list of prizes can be found in this document including the reserve price.

How can I bid on an item if I am not attending the gala dinner? If you would like to make a bid please email Sian at [email protected] with the amount you would like to bid, the item you are bidding on, your name, mobile number and email address.

How can I bid on an item if I am attending the gala dinner? All the prizes will be at the gala dinner in the Garden room. By each prize there will be a clip board with a bidding sheet on it. On the sheet if you want to make a bid you should put your bid, name, mobile contact and email. Bidding will end at 10.30pm on the gala dinner night and the person who has made the highest bid will win. They will then have seven days to pay for the item before they can claim it.

All proceeds from the auction will go to our Future Building fundraising campaign.

Auction Lot: Leigh Halfpenny signed British Lions shirt

Reserve Price: £245

Details about the lot: Leigh Halfpenny is a Welsh international rugby union player. He was a player for the Cardiff Blues in the Pro12 before he signed to play for Toulon in 2014. In November 2013 Halfpenny was named in a shortlist of five players for the IRB Player of the Year. In December 2013 Halfpenny was selected as BBC Wales Sports Personality of the Year. Halfpenny was selected for the 2013 British and Irish Lions tour to Australia as one of three fullbacks touring along with Stuart Hogg and Rob Kearney. Halfpenny played all three tests, winning player of the series, and breaking the Lions points record held by Neil Jenkins. He also broke the record for most points in one test and was runner-up for BBC Sports Personality of the Year to Andy Murray. This is a signed Lions shirt framed with photos from the Lions tour.

Details about the lot: William James McBride, MBE, better known as Willie John McBride is a former rugby union footballer who played as a lock for Ireland and the British and Irish Lions. He played 63 Tests for Ireland including eleven as captain, and toured with the Lions five times — a record that gave him 17 Lions Test caps. He also captained the most successful ever Lions side which toured South Africa in 1974. What is on offer is a limited edition print created by Willie John McBride. It is one of an edition of only 50 available worldwide. It has been hand signed by the artist.

I don’t think there are enough ways to describe all the things I

have learned at Chesham. Playing there as a teenager, young

adult and now a man, it has been fundamental in growing up.

I think it has shaped me and made me well-rounded,

hard-working and confident. I imagine like with all sport, it

shows you what happens when you work hard. The results are

always there and I think that’s a great ethos to take into the

outside world.
