Indian weddings are a celebration in themselves. The venue for the engagement ceremony can be either the house of the bride or the house of the groom. Traditionally, it was preferred that the house of the bride should be the venue for the engagement ceremony, as it was not believed to be auspicious if the girl visited the groom’s house before marriage. However, things have changed a lot and now; the girls visit the groom’s house many times before the wedding. In fact, most of the people today prefer to hire a nice party hall and organize the engagement ceremony over there.

There are extensive arrangements which have to be made for this engagement ceremony as well. The bride has to wear a nice dress for the occasion, proper food and entertainment has to be organized for the guest, etc. In short all the preparations which have to be made for the wedding day are to be made for the engagement day as well, but only on a slightly smaller scale.
