Traffic Signals When hung
horizontally signals have red on left, yellow or amber in the middle and green on the right
When hung vertically signals have red on top, yellow or amber in the middle and green on the bottom
Yellow Lights
Turn to page 202 in the manual. Amber = Yellow

Traffic signals with arrows control the flow of movement at an intersection.

Warning Signs
Most warning signs are yellow and diamond shaped.
See examples on page 21 of Drive Right and page 208 in the Manual.
Pedestrian Signs These yellow
warnings signs are diamond shaped.
Sometimes the are florescent.
Specific Warning Signs
Rail Road crossing signs are yellow circles
No passing zone is a yellow pendant
Specific Warning Sign Warning about an
obstacle is shown with a chevron.
Construction Signs
These are warning signs that are orange diamonds. See page 208 in the Manual.
School Zone

Regulatory Signs
These signs indicate traffic speed, movement and restrictions.
They are red and white, black and white, or red, black and white.
Examples can be found in the Manual on page 209 and 210 or in Drive Right on page 20.

Specific Regulatory Signs I
Stop signs are red octagons. Page 209 in the manual
Yield signs are red and white triangles. See manual p. 210
Specific Regulatory Signs II A Do Not Enter sign
is a white square with a red circle that contains a white rectangle.
It is commonly seen at exits and entrances of parking lots and highways.
Guide Signs
Green – Destination and Mileage Blue – Service Brown – Recreation Area Route Markers
Road Markings White lines in the road
means that traffic is going in the same direction.
Yellow lines means that traffic is going in opposite directions.
A white line is on the right side of the edge of the road.
A yellow line is on the left side of the road.
Regardless of color, solid lines means no passing. Passing is permitted when there is a dotted line.
Stop Line A single solid white line across a road at an
intersection with a stop sign or a traffic signal is a stop line.
