The latest in a line of rugged, versatile

Siemens 3G W-CDMA FDD Macro Node B

offerings, the @vantage NB-880 is a pro-

duct of experience. A third generation

Node B, it brings tremendous benefits

to customers with its vastly enhanced

technology and the insight born of

countless deployments. Boasting twice

the capacity of its predecessor, the ultra

efficient @vantage NB-880 cuts energy

costs by 30 percent. Fully backward-

compatible with widespread @vantage

NB-44x modules and designed to sup-

port the @vantage NB-44x feature set,

the @vantage NB-880 incorporates the

latest features and technology. Best of

all, it is ready for emerging innovations

such as remote radio heads.

Spare capital and leavea small footprintThe @vantage NB-880 delivers the kind

of performance that can make OPEX

savings soar: Designed for ultra low

power consumption, it generates less

heat, sparing energy, resources and

overhead.

While the forerunner generation sup-

ported 500 voice channels, the new

@vantage NB-880 line doubles capacity

to 1,000.

The @vantage NB-880 reduces power

consumption by a third, saving operators

an impressive 30 percent in energy costs.

It uses digital signal processing algo-

rithms to boost the power amplifier’s

efficiency (realized in CAT). Hardware

modules are interchangeable with

@vantage NB-44x models, reducing

overhead for spares and logistics.

What’s more, a single software load is

able to update all different module types,

thereby significantly cutting the costs

of upgrading software and training staff.

And the @vantage NB-880 supports tried-

and-true features such as remote anten-

na down-tilt adjustment via Radio Com-

mander (RET), adding to the solution’s

convenience and manpower efficiency.

Geared for greatest flexibilityIts ability to cut CAPEX is equally impres-

sive. Offering all but unlimited scalabi-

lity, expandability and upgradeability,

these nodes provide a perfect fit for

every MNO, business plan and market

scenario.

A tall order to fill, the Node B family is

able to meet every expectation, from

single-carrier, single-sector configura-

tions (1/0/0) up to full-blown four-carrier,

three-sector configurations (4/4/4)

designed to deliver ultra high perfor-

mance. And with this remarkable degree

of flexibility, the @vantage NB-880 is the

perfect choice for rising to the demand-

ing challenges of mass rollout.

Here today, ready for tomorrowThird generation Node B architecture is

future-proof: Engineered specifically to

satisfy today’s demands, it is also pre-

pared for new services and applications

such as HSDPA, as well as other advances

the future will bring. Siemens charted an

evolution path from today’s @vantage

NB-880 to a full-fledged radio server on

the same hardware platform, with full

backwards compatibility to support in-

stalled nodes. Ready to handle heavy data

traffic and facilitate migration to HSDPA

(as @vantage NB-44x family), smart

antennas and IP, the Node B line safe-

guards MNOs’ investments for many

tomorrows to come.

Better, not bigger.

HighlightsUp to 4/4/4 configuration and up to

1,000 gross voice channels in one

rack/shelf

Up to 80 W per sector / 80 W per cell

with optional TX diversity

RX diversity included; TX diversity

optional

Variable line interfaces enable opera-

tors to freely choose rollout capacity

and transmission features.

Line interface cards support trans-

mission features such as CES, IMA and

Fractional ATM to maximize capacity

and utilization of incumbents’ legacy

transmission networks.

Load-sharing among channel cards

minimizes downtime.

Small footprint -

just 1400 x 600 x 450 mm

Channel card handles both traffic and

common channels, considerably

enhancing baseband resources.

Channel bank for baseband capacity

ensures baseband resources are used

most efficiently. In addition, users in

Softer Handover do not require addi-

tional baseband resources.

Low-level TX spurious emission facili-

tates isolation in GSM BTS collocation

scenarios.

Optional remote electrical tilt reduces

interference and provides a redun-

dancy alternative.

Key features at a glanceAll for one, one for all: five module

types; one software load

Fully compliant with CPRI for separa-

ting control and radio functionality

Low power consumption

(typically 623 watts for 1/1/1)

High output power (CAT40)

Channel card supports 100 channel

elements

Same HSDPA capability as the

@vantage NB-44x family (with software

update only)

Ready for future evolution:
