Due to their policy of returning to core business, in 1998 the Lohmann + Stolterfoht product range of marine gear units, couplings/clutches and slide/thrust bearings was sold into pieces to several furtheron mentioned companies.

A. Friedr. Flender AG took over the gearbox portfolio and Bruinhof Marine formed part of that trans action. As a result of the Siemens takeover of Flender in 2005, Bruinhof Marine has been integrated into Siemens Netherlands with effect from February 2009. Siemens Marine Services kept remaining having all their earlier product representations.

Within the Siemens Industry Sector, Customer Service division, as per 2011 Siemens Marine Services has been assigned as the international center of competence for all after-market related affairs by the Siemens’ head quarters. We

Siemens Marine Services has a wide range of couplings and clutches for marine propulsion gears, dredge and jet pump drives, step-up gears for power take-off and many more applications.

The product portfolio consists of:

Spiroflex ks/kj Highly elastic shaft couplings for torque of up to 928 kNm. The highly torsionally elastic Spiroflex shaft coupling compensates radial, axial and angular alignment deviations, by virtue of its elastic rubber elements. Its high torsional elasticity and excellent dampening capability renders this coupling indispensable for propulsion systems prone to torsional vibration.

Siemens Flender has been supplying the shipping industry with drive technology for many years.

Flender drives are optimized specifi cally for ships to transmit power to the propeller without unnecessary losses. Highest efficiencies and optimum power to weight ratios and the lowest possible vibration and noise generation are characteristics of our products and thus of our first-rate engineering.

Our product line for marine applications consists out of:

• NAVILUS Propulsion gearboxes, arranged with horizontally or vertically placed input and output shafts and driven by one or multiple engines.

• NAVILUS gearboxes for drive (shaft) generators, dredge pumps, jet pumps and cutter drives.

• FSG/SIG industrial and SIP/PLANUREX planetary gearboxes e.g. for winches or deck cranes.

Pneumaflex kaHighly elastic clutches for torque of up to 304 kNm. Pneumatically switchable. The special qualities of a highly torsionally elastic and vibration dampening coupling and those of a pneumatically operated double cone friction clutch are purposefully combined in this Pneumaflex clutch. It reliably interrupts or establishes the flow of power between the diesel engine and the other driving components.

Pneumastar ku Torsionally stiff clutches for torques of up to 1400 kNm. Pneumatically switch able. For stiff, but switchable connections. The Pneumastar clutch is a torsionally stiff double-cone friction clutch. The clutching components consist of two inner and two outer friction cones of which the inner ones

We also supply slip (CA-type) and angular misalignment (FA-type) monitoring equipment as well as pneumatic control units for engagement and disengagement of the clutches (PFA-type).

We have several sizes of bearings and shells, as well as all sorts and sizes of shaft seals, available from our stock in Rotterdam. For repair purposes we can offer re-metalling of the bearing shells in case of an emergency.

The shaft journal bearings are supplied with white metal linings in the shell, suitable for shaft diameters between 110 and 1150 mm. Various configurations are available, with or without built-in cooler, shaft load monitoring equipment, forced lubrication and similar features.

We have experience with special applications such as shockproof, anti magnetic, watertight or isolated bearings for frigates or submarines and specially constructed bearings for ice breakers and cutter suction dredgers.

Siemens Marine Services offers a special-purpose thrust bearing, which is equipped with a built-in, pneumatically operated gear clutch. By de-clutching the propeller, all propulsion power becomes available to drive, for instance, a generator.

Shaft- and Thrust BearingsWe support a wide range of LRL and LRH RADILUS shaft bearings and LAR AXILUS thrust bearings. These bearings were formally branded as Lohmann + Stolterfoht.

Gear CouplingsWe deliver and support Dentilus gear couplings of the AS-, AG- and AV- type, formally branded as Lohmann + Stolterfoht and these are designed with crowned teeth and are used where torques must be transmitted through shafts that are movable on all sides.

Siemens Marine Services utilizes these couplings for marine applications such as generators, (dredge/jet) pumps, cutter

drive shafts and other shaft-to-shaft connections.

The range manufactured is not limited to the coupling series illustrated in the catalogue but also includes a wide range of special designs made to satisfy a great variety of customers’ wishes. These gear-couplings can compen sate angular, radial and axial misalignments.
