The company announced its September Quarter 2017 financial results on 7th November. Net Revenues at Rs 1,605

crore were 17.5% higher as compared to the same period last year. Volumes in the Chemical business were up 24% led

by higher capacity utilization from the expansion undertaken at Bharuch last year. Sugar volumes increased by 35%

on account of higher crushing during the last season. PBDIT stood at Rs 306 Crs. vs Rs.132 Crs. over same period last

year, primarily on account of higher volumes and margins, both in Chemicals and Sugar businesses.

The satisfactory financial performance in the first two quarters is a reflection of a robust business strategy and

efficient execution. The company is encouraged to undertake further investments to place all the businesses on a firm

footing and therefore capital expenditure to the tune of Rs 848 Crs. has been approved by the board. This includes

approx. Rs 500 Crs. in Sugar business, for capacity enhancement, a distillery and a Co-gen facility. Further, Rs 240

Crs. is earmarked for a 66 MW power plant in Kota and Rs 98 Crs. for Chlor-alkali expansion at Bharuch and Kota. In

the current year, the Chlor-alkali expansion in Bharuch was completed at a cost of approximately Rs 600 Crs. and a

distillery is being established at Hariawan at a cost of Rs 190 Crs. With this, the company is committed to incur capital

expenditure to the tune of about Rs 1600 Crs. in the span of next 5 years.

We are happy to share that in October this year, we successfully conducted Fenesta Open Nationals Championship

– 2017. It marks 23 years of the company’s association with Tennis. For DCM Shriram, our endeavour has always been

to provide a platform to the young and upcoming talent in the country. This year too, interest level for the Fenesta

Open was very heartening. There were entries from 2000 players and around 1300 young talented tennis players

participated across 16 events and 885 matches, with an average of 15 hours of play time every day!

The 2017 tournament provided a platform for new champions to emerge. The Champion for Men’s Category was

Dalwinder Singh who hails from a small town in Punjab. This was his first National title. Mahak Jain, a gritty teenager

from Madhya Pradesh, upset the top seed to clinch her first National Women’s Title. Congratulations to all the winners!

Festivities were on through this quarter with celebrations of Dussehra and Diwali across all the locations. As we

get closer to ring in the New Year, we would like to take this opportunity to wish you all and your families a Merry

Christmas and a Happy New Year in advance!
