The last few months have witnessed several positive and negative events that have impacted India’s economy. Among the positive ones have been: a) Inflation is now well under control, b) Commodity prices, especially crude oil, continue to be soft resulting in low input prices and c) The Central and State Governments are committed to reforms and improving the business environment. On the negative side has been a continuous decline in India’s exports due to a weak global economy and for second successive year the country has had a poor monsoon. Under these circumstances the company has performed satisfactorily in the first quarter as a result of our diversified and integrated business portfolio and comfortable debt levels. The unfavorable monsoon patterns and financial stress in agriculture sector has adversely affected demand for agri inputs leading to lower revenues of Bioseed and Value Added Agri products. Sugar prices are in a downward spiral with continuing surplus production in the country and weak global prices. Sugar margins are at unsustainable levels. We are hoping that the current crises will lead to a rational long term policy framework to restore the health of the Sugar Industry on a sustained basis. Chloro-vinyl businesses have done better despite high power costs. We continue to take steps towards cost savings and achieving economies of scale. The expansion of Chlor-Alkali capacity at Bharuch and Power co-gen capacity at sugar are progressing as per plan.

As we mark the 25th anniversary of the company, we are happy that each location celebrated the event. At each unit, a function was organized where specially designed watches were distributed to all the company employees. We believe these are important landmarks when we can take pride in our achievements and rededicate ourselves for the next 25 years and more.

Cleanliness drive by Kirti Mahal employees

Mr. Sovan Chakrabarty and Mr. Rajat Mukerjei presenting KM Shinez Awards to employees

Cleanliness starts at workplaceKirti Mahal Cleanliness Drive

A clean world begins with a cleaner workplace. SFC Delhi has taken forward the Clean India Campaign and planned an in-house initiative, “Kirti Mahal Cleanliness Drive”. This initiative went beyond the symbolism of wielding a broom and sweeping and had realistic goals of creating awareness murals, organizing street plays, etc., and generate greater awareness among people to keep their areas clean. We have rolled forward this idea by planning more events around this concept, such as, Quiz Competition and

Slogan Writing Competition.

What’s your fun quotient?KM Shinez Awards

What’s life without a little fun? To check out the fun quotient of our employees, we instituted a popular choice Fun Award called the KM Shinez Awards that recognizes employees on the basis of an online survey. Employees had to nominate a co-worker in each category and the person winning the maximum nominations in each category received the award. The Awards Function was held on 12th June, where trophies were given away to the winners and certificates to the 1st Runners Up by Mr. Sovan Chakrabarty and Mr. Rajat Mukerjei respectively.

Facing calamity with confidenceHailstorm Relief

At times, no words can describe the wrath of nature. One such calamity had struck Kapren Tehsil of Keshavrai Patan in Bundi district in the form of a massive hailstorm in

March 2015.

After witnessing the degree of devastation, the DCM team joined the massive relief measures and carried out a detailed survey in the 7 affected villages of the Bundi district in May. They visited each and every house in the village to record the damage and once the survey was complete, they meticulously planned for the distribution of sheets in the affected villages.
