2.14 Significant Activities and contributions made by IQAC
1. IQAC in collaboration with microbiology department of our college organizes the microbial
summit.
2. Encourages the faculties to apply for minor and major research projects, as a result one major and five minor research projects has been sanctioned.
2.15 Plan of Action by IQAC/Outcome The college has decided to implement following plan for the year 2013-14. The plan of
action for the year 2013-14 towards quality enhancement is as under :-
a) State Transport (S.T.) passes to be given to students who cannot stay at hostels in Akola but commute from the nearby villages.
b) Extensive use of DLP, LCD, PPT presentations and to avail ICT facilities for the effective teaching – learning process.
c) Community service programme’s like Blood Donation Camp to be undertaken.
d) Maintenance of Botanical Garden and the college campus from the point of its beautification.
e) Applying for new Minor Research Projects under UGC grants so that each teaching staff is involved in research.
f) To plan for Examination Reforms in the Semester Examination Pattern for the benefit of students.
g) Purchase of new books in the library as per new syllabus of Semester System Pattern.

i) Renovation of physics laboratory to give it a new looks with good acoustics.
j) Renovations of Botany and Zoology laboratory to give it a new look with more facilities.
k) Development of Zoology research laboratory to cultivate the research environment among the research scholars.
l) Construction of Antechamber behind Principals Carbine and Renovation of Principals cabin.
m) Final finishing of girls hostel and to give the accommodation to girl students in the hostel from the academic session 2013-14.
n) Water proofing of Administrative building.
o) Renovation of room no. 1, 2, 3 with cooling system and also to use it as an ICT class room.
p) Renovation of wing B with room no. 4,5,6 to give it a new look with good acoustics.
q) Conversion of room no. 11 into Microbiology laboratory for post graduate classes of microbiology and also used as Microbiology research laboratory.
r) Establishment / Renovation of urinal for boys.
s) To increase the height of side wall of college compound from the side of Sitabai Arts College for comfortable working of college.
The plan of action, as above, was chalked out meticulously during the session 2013-14 and the result is as under –
a) State Transport :- Passes were made available for the students who cannot stay at hostels in Akola but commute from the nearby village.
b) ICT facilities :- Were made available to the entire department. During this year new LCD are made available to electronics, Chemistry Botany Depts. All the department are using LCD and DLP for the effective teaching and learning process. All the staff members are preparing their own Power Point presentation to make their teaching effective.
c) Blood-Donation Camp:-
It is our regular project which is held every year in the
memory of Late Principal M.G. Joshi. It was held on 24th Dec. 2013, on his Death
Anniversary, in his memory as he was very fond of undertaking social projects
which are of great importance for the welfare of community. The students and
teaching, non-teaching staff donated blood on the occasion, to be used by needy and
poor patients. The project was organized by Department of Microbiology and
Biochemistry with National Service Scheme and NCC unit of college in
collaboration with “Sarvopchar Rugnalaly”, the Government Hospital at Akola. A
list of voluntary blood donors of college students was handed over to the authorities
of Government Hospital on this occasion. A blood Group Detection Camp was also
held and the importance of knowing one’s blood group in case of emergency likes
accident, surgery etc. was explained to students.
d) Botanical Garden:
The botanical garden is ready for the students use for their study
purpose, also every year in the beginning of rainy season the work of its
beautification with flowering plants needs to be done. There are numerous varieties
of ornamental plants such as Crysanthenum, Ixora, Jasmine, Parijat, Zennia,
Nerium, Lily citrus, Passiflora, Vinia, Quisqualis, Gloriosa are grown. Besides this
there are varieties of medicinal plants in the garden as Ocimum, Aloe Vera, Aspaus,
Amla, Vitis etc. One gardener is also appointed on daily wages basis to look after
the plants.
e) Minor Research Projects:
College is vibrant in the research activities in this year.
During the year 5 minor project is sanctioned in the Chemistry Zoology, Physical
education, and microbiology department and college has applied for two new minor
research projects to UGC One major research project was also sanctioned to the
Principal of our college.
f) Examination Reform From the last three years S.G.B. Amravati University had
launched semester exam pattern. In order to meet the condition given by the
University our college improved the exam status for the benefit of the students: In
session 2013 – 14 , due to semester system pattern, the college made improvements
in the methodology of conducting examinations as follows as per University
directives -
B.Sc. I, B.Sc. II and B.Sc.III programmes had University Semester
Examination pattern. One class-test was conducted for them in each semester. In
semester II, semester IV and Semester VI, Prelim Examination was conducted based
on the whole syllabus of the semester.
a) The answer sheets were evaluated by the respective teaching
Staff. The results of all subjects were declared and displayed on the Respective
notice boards which helped the students to acquire good Rankings in their University
Examinations.
b) Purchase of new book in the library for the semester pattern: By considering the
new semester pattern and change in syllabus number of bookds were increased in the
library. The details of which are given below-

c) New College Entrance gate was built, it gives a college a new look.
d) Physics laboratory is renovated and more facilities were made available.
e) Botany and Zoology laboratory was renovated with more facilities.
f) Research laboratory for Zoology research was develop the research interest among
the student and faculty members.
g) Principals Cabin was renovated and an antechamber was also constructed behind it.
h) Girls hostel was now ready with reading hall , Common hall, Dining hall,
kitchen/pantry, Warden room attach with toilet, Visitor room , Sick room Bathmat,
W.C. + Urinals , Ample parking, Water purifier , water cooler, solar water heater etc
all facilities are made available to the girls. College girls started residing in hostel
from 23rd July 2013 on the occasion of Guru Pournima. Total 27 girls students are
utilizing hostel facility.
i) Administrative building was facing a great problem of water drainage during last
year, water proofing of administrative building was made.
j) Room no. 1,2,3 was renovated, cooling system was cultivated to avoid high heat by
introducing turbo ventilation on roof problem in summer also it is newly constructed
to use it as a ICT class room.
k) Wing ‘B’ with room no. 4,5,6 was renovated to give it new look with good
acoustics. Also the wall of the cordon was increases for the safety purpose.
l) Our college is having a new course of M.Sc. Microbiology since last two years in
view of this we feel a need of one more microbiology laboratory with research
facility so room no. 11 is converted into microbiology laboratory with all research
facilities.
m) Establishment and renovation of urinal for boys was in progress.
n) Sitabai arts college is our sister concern branch attached to our college, to avoid the
disturbances to each other and in view of safety the height of side wall of college
compound from the side of Sitabai Arts College for comfortable working of college.
The outcome of other plans implemented –
The research activities were vibrant in the session –
(1) Two faculty members were awarded with Ph.D. degree in subject Zoology and
Chemistry; One Major research project is sanctioned.
(2) Five minor research projects were sanctioned.
(3) Two minor research projects are submitted and two proposals for Major Research
Projects are waiting for the further interaction.
(4) The teaching staff and research students have in their credit 21 Research
Publications in peer reviewed journals.
(5) The teaching faculty attended 21 conferences.
(6) One faculty member is honored with PhD Supervisor of Science faculty by
Gondawana University.

declared and displayed on the respective notice boards which helped the students to acquire good rankings in their University Examinations.
Aptitude Test was taken for the B.Sc. final year student based on multiple choice questions which
help the student to secure good position in post graduate course as the admissions of some colleges conduct the entrance exam aminations.
Practical test examination was conducted after completion of the course it acquires them with the
practical examination pattern.
Regular conduction of unit/class tests in 100% copy free environment. Evaluation with cross Checking by students. Finalization of marks in presence of student.

2.12 How does IQAC Contribute/Monitor/Evaluate the Teaching & Learning processes
IQAC monitor and evaluate the teaching and learning process continuously throughout the year under the different heads like seminar competition, guest lecturers, class test , unit test, arranging seminar competition , group discussion , study tour , motivating the student to participate in science exhibition, Avishkar , arranging science exhibition in our college, workshops etc. Winner Students were motivated by felicitating them .The details of this were as given

Students’ seminar were arranged by various departments which are as follows – All Head’s of department were notified in the beginning of the session (2013-2014) to arrange seminars of the students during their regular classes. The seminars were to be held in two sessions i.e. in first and second semester.
The topics of the seminar were allotted to each student for delivering the seminar at least 10 days prior to the date of seminar.
The teaching aids viz. charts; black board, overhead projector, L.C. D. projector etc. were made available to the students.

Guest lectures and seminars
During the session 2013-14, various departments of Shri R.L.T. College of Science, Akola have organized “Guest Lecture and Seminar Competition” for B.Sc. and M.Sc. students under the guidance of Principal Dr. V. D. Nanoty and Heads of respective departments.
Guest lecturer and seminar competition are offered as the additional learning activities to regular courses provided within the curriculum; where issues relating to the subject knowledge, improvement and advancement can be shared and discussed. These activities provided an opportunity for sharing of the views, ideas and new insights in subject knowledge. Educational Tour (Study Tour / Industrial Visit / Sport Adventure & Environmental Tour) During the session 2013-14, as a part of curriculum, various departments of Shri R.L.T. College of Science, Akola were organized Educational Tour / Industrial Visit / Sport Adventure & Environmental Tour for B.Sc.-I,II,III and M.Sc.-I,II students under the supervision of Principal Dr. V. D. Nanoty and Heads of respective departments. The details are as follows.

Department of Chemistry 173 Students of B.Sc.-II, visited to Adarsh Goseva Evam Sashodhan Prakalp, Mhaispur on 12.03.2014 and observed manufacturing of ayurvedic medicinal products such as tablets used against various diseases, ointments and soaps etc. obtained from cow urine. Students also visited Rudrayani Temple, Waghzari, Patur.
2. Department of Botany 60 Students of B.Sc.-II & III visited to Nagarjun Medicinal Plant Garden, Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth, Akola on 09.10.2013. Students observed the vegetation of various medicinal plants and gathered the information about medicinal plants effective against various diseases.
52 Students of B.Sc.-III visited to Vitthal Mushroom Industry, Amanatpur on 08.03.2014 and studied the technique and procedure of mushroom cultivation.
3. Department of Zoology and Bioinformatics 60 Students of B.Sc.-III, visited to Entomology Museum, Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth, Akola on 07.10.2013. Students observed the unique collection of insects and rare species of useful and harmful species of insects.
26 Students of B.Sc.-III visited to Bioinformatics Laboratory, Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University, Amravati and holy places at Salbardi on 25.02.2014. Students collected the important information about latest softwares and data configuration of Bioinformatics related materials.
4. Department of Microbiology and Biochemistry 71 Students of B.Sc.-I, visited to Plant Pathology and Soil Microbiology Laboratory, Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth, Akola on 14.03.2014 and studied the working of instruments like P.C.R., ultrasonicator, electrophoretic assembly etc.
5. Department of Mathematics 22 Students of M.Sc.-II (Mathematics), visited to Melghat Tiger Project, Chikhaldara on 28.01.2014 and 29.01.2014. Students visited the various tourism spots in nearby area, enjoyed jungle safari and gained extreme knowledge, fraternity in the vicinity of nature and wild life.
6. Department of Physical Education 76 Students of B.Sc.-I, II & III and M.Sc.-I & II visited to Ajanta Caves, Ajanta on 24.01.2014 as a part of sport adventure tour. Students observed the caves and enjoyed the tour.
About 30 teaching and non-teaching staff members of various departments accompanied the students in these educational tours. The reports of respective departments are enclosed herewith.

4.2 Computerization of administration and library
college has a separate web site www.rltsc.org , the information regarding admission is displayed on it time to time from the beginning of the session till the admission process is complete.
Data of each student is fed to computer.
The result sheets showing marks obtained by students, are prepared on computer and they are displayed on students- notice board for their information. This is done for each class-test and Prelim examination.
On basis of marks obtained by students in class-tests and Prelim examination, internal marking is done and the sheets are again displayed for the students. Finally they are submitted to University.
Computerization has helped for timely declaration of results and issue of mark lists and certificates which ultimately help the students to apply for higher studies or seek the employment in time.
Computer and Internet access plays a vital role for effective teaching – learning process and research purposes .
All most all teaching departments including Department of Computer Science, Information Technology, Mathematics, Microbiology, Chemistry, Electronics etc. are equipped with computer, laptop, printer, scanner, LCD projector and Broadband internet facility.
The college library has Network Resource Centre established under UGC Merged scheme, XI – plan, equipped with six computers and internet access.
The college Administrative Office is almost computerized and the Principal’s Office has computer, laptop and internet access.

3. From the last three years S.G.B. Amravati University had launched semester exam pattern. In order to meet the condition given by the University our college improved the exam status for the benefit of the students: In session 2013 – 14 , due to semester system pattern, the college made improvements in the methodology of conducting examinations as follows as per University directives -B.Sc. I and B.Sc. II and B.Sc.III programmes had University Semester Examination pattern. One class-test was conducted for them in each semester. In semester II and semester IVand Semester VI, Preli Examination was conducted based on the whole syllabus of the semester.
4. The answer sheets were evaluated by the respective teaching Staff. The results of all subjects were declared and displayed on the Respective notice boards which helped the students to acquire good Rankings in their University Examinations.

6.11 Activities and support from the Alumni Association.
The Alumni Association acts as a link between the illustrious alumni of RLT and the students and faculty of the college. Through its various events, the Alumni Association endeavors to enable the alumni to play a pro-active role in the day to day functioning of college, its student initiatives and events. The Association consists of a parent body consisting of prominent alumni, and a student wing of current students of RLT.

international fame, AKOLA , was the chief guest at thePrize distribution function
which was held in the memory of Late Principal M.G.Joshi whose death anniversary
was on 24-12-2013.
A display window has been installed on the entrance to the office of
college principal. Notable quotes of life shaping, meaningful, impact making maxims are
displayed on daily basis. This endeavor is implemented by Alumni Association.

Parent Teacher Association (PTA) of Shri R.L.T. College of Science, Akola is a
formal organization composed of parents of all students and teaching staff members of the
degree college. At local level, the goal of PTA is to encourage parent involvement, support
teachers and organize events to support college.
Parent Teacher Association encouraged and motivated parents to participate in
various college activities and provide supports to college as-
Parents actively took part in blood donation camp and attended prize distribution
ceremony (24/12/2013).
PTA helped NSS department in social activities like donation of books and sport
material to primary school children, distribution of medicine, voluntary service in
health check up camp at adopted gram Yelwan (26-12-2013 to 02-01-2014).
Attended felicitation programme organized on the eve of Republic Day (26/01/2014),
cultural programme (10/03/2014) to motivate the students.
Participated in workshop on ‘Career and its planning’ which was organized by
college in collaboration with Daily Divya Marathi and Maitreya Foundation
(18/02/2014).
Visited science project competition and exhibition ‘Science Pundit 2013’ to motivate
and appreciate students (28/02/2014)
Parents attended workshop on AIDS Awareness organized by department of NSS and
Microbiology (05/03/2014).
Parents supported the student’s activities in sports, seminars, competitions, youth
festival etc. by encouraging and sometime actually accompanying with their wards.
Thus, PTA provides a common forum for interaction of parents, teachers and
students so as to improve facilities for academic excellence and supports college.

The No-vehicle Day is observed on every 1st and 15th of each month and the message Save Petrol and stop rigid use of natural resources is given and emphasized.
The awareness about the Conservation of Environment among the students is
done by department of Zoology and Botany. On the occasion of Wildlife
Conservation Week “1-7 October” Department of Zoology organized a guest
lecture of Dr. Milind Shirbhate, Asst Prof. S. K. College, Akola on topic “Status
and Conservation and Indian Tiger”. Students were made aware about position of
tigers in food chain, food webs and balanced ecosystem for balanced nature.
There is an urgent need to protect the ozone layer from further depletion and save
our planet. This can be done by planting more and more saplings. Departments of
Botany and NSS undertook tree plantation programme every year. This year, 500
saplings were distributed among NSS volunteers for planting at or near their
residence and plantation of 500 saplings were done at adopted gram Yelwan. To
create environmental awareness and entrepreneurship among village women,
Women’s meet was organized at adopted gram Yelwan. Vegetable seeds were
distributed among women and NSS volunteers. Programme was organized in
collaboration with local N.G.O. Vishal Himalaya Foundation, Akola.

Felicitation of staff and students- On M. G. Joshi (First Principal of the college) Memorial Day, 24th Dec. every year, the meritorious students of S.G.B. Amravati University and the college, are felicitated and awarded by the prizes. These prizes are donated by the retired college staff and the social-workers. The achievements of the students and staff are displayed on the notice board and they are felicitated in a special programme which is held on the Republic Day, 26 th January every year. Gymnasium facility- In the college Gymnasium, the students can practice in evening time and they are
not charged any fees. The same facility is available for the outside students with the permission from the Principal of the college.
Job oriented courses such as CCLT, DCLT, ADCLT are run in the college for the students. The students offer these courses along with their academic studies.
Stand by generator- Due to this facility there is no interruption, in case of failure in supply of electricity while working on computer, during lectures using LCD projector, practicals and so on.
The Auditorium Hall of the Institution is also used for organizing the social events apart from its academic use.
Medical facilities are provided in nearby hospital to the faculty members by the parent society.
