Event Highlights

In the endeavor to enhance audience experience and to impart knowledge, Zak Expo planned two fun-and-learn events – Kaanch ki Paathshala and Window ki Paathshala on the second and third day of the Expo. While Kaanch ki Paathshala was an initiative held in close collaboration with FOSG, the Window ki Paathshala resulted from the cumulative efforts of participating companies – Deceuninck, FOM Aluminium Machinery, Fenstek, Wuerth Group India and Art & Glass led by the dynamic Mr. Sandeep Chowdhry from Alkarma.

Kaanch Ki Paathshala

With the popular Bollywood number Masti ki Paathshala playing in the background, Kaanch ki Paathshala caught everyone’s attention and in no time the chairs arranged in the amphitheater were all taken. This was the 3rd edition of this extra ordinary workshop which is conducted in order to enhance general knowledge and awareness about the glass amongst the people. Some of the audience was already aware of the paathshala and were looking forward to the new edition of workshop owing to their previous amusing experience from the last year and the year before. The people participated with such gusto, that the late comers did not even mind sitting on the steps or standing on the sideways to catch a glimpse!

Aditya Chopra, the anchor of the workshop along with other members of FOSG greeted the audience and went on to introduce the magician Jijy, who cuts glass in a jiffy! Jijy swiftly cut huge glass with impeccable precision using the simple tools that were on display in the Zak Glass Expo. A small machine was installed on one corner of the stage

11th Zak Doors & Windows ExpoDistinguished architects, developers and company heads of various exhibitor companies from across the industry attended the grand inauguration ceremonies held separately for Zak Doors and Windows Expo and Aluminium Extrusions Expo and for the Zak Glass Technology Expo.

The 11th Zak Doors & Windows Expo and the 6th Zak Aluminium Extrusions Expo was held in the hall number 18 of Pragati Maidan. The entrance of the hall was decorated with an inflated green arch done in the french style with an underlying theme of “Celebrating Fenestration” printed on it. The dignitaries were handed a balloon each, which they had to sign before releasing it in the air, marking the theme of the exhibition — liberation of new ideas! The joie-de-vivre exuded from the participants lit up the whole atmosphere. The stellar inaugural panel constituted the following eminent dignitaries:

NEW DELHI, 5-6-7 December: Halls of Pragati Maidan

buzzed with the latest innovation, technology and novelty

as India’s largest international exhibition on Glass, Doors

& Windows, and Aluminium Extrusions was concluded

there amidst great fervor and aplomb.

Window Ki Paathshala

Window ki paathshala, the second workshop conducted on the similar lines of Kanch ki Pathshaala and a new entrant in the gamut of Zak Events, was organized in the Hall 18 of Pragati Maidan and saw huge participation from the visiting audience, which included dealers, workmen, traders, manufacturers, fabricators, skilled craftsmen, and business enthusiasts. Sandeep Chowdhry from Al Karma, the veteran of the Indian fenestration industry, demonstrated the complete fabrication of uPVC sliding window on the second day and fabrication of an aluminium casement on the third day of the Zak Expo.

that displayed cutting and grinding of glass. Short fun activities, displaying the strength and tenacity of a toughened glass and a laminated glass as against an ordinary annealed glass kept the audience entertained. The toughened glass could easily bear the weight of the anchor, who not only stood on it, but jumped. And, though the laminated glass broke on repeated hits by an enthusiastic volunteer from the audience, it could not be penetrated, as expected.

Himanshu Vishnoi, Modiguard conducted a comprehensive session on how to install a mirror correctly and efficiently. To begin with, he disseminated ideas around the elementary knowledge of mirror in an interactive session with the audience. The audience comprised carpenters, laborers, craftsmen, traders, fabricators, business owners, and other curious people who had travelled from Mumbai, Hyderabad, Allahabad, and other far-flung places to attend the Zak Expo. The session started from the basics and went onto the advanced level. Demonstration was made depicting the method and simple but precise techniques for a flawless installation of mirrors. Himanshu continuously dropped handy tips and the best practices to be followed to increase the longevity of installed mirror and its efficient use.

Gopal, from McCoy spread awareness on how to effectively use various adhesives and sealants. They stood true to their tag line — right product, right application and displayed the correct way of silicone application and demonstrated how General Purpose Silicone is not the panacea for all the adhesive problems. They showcased JadooG, a range of 8 sealant products catering to the glass and hardware segment of the fenestration industry.

Hemant from Ozone Hardware conducted another informative session and demonstrated how glass can be bolted together with the help of spider fittings. With continuous advancement in technology, frameless structural glazing, commonly known as spider facades, are finding increased usage in more and more applications. These facades are created using spider fittings and accessories in various configurations to provide the concept of ‘Total Vision’ to end-users. Various types of spider fittings are available in the market, such as Fin spider, Hanger-type spider, Hanger-plus-Spider-fitting type, and Full-Spider-fitting type. These are mainly used for frameless glazing where the end user does not want to see the lines of frame encapsulating the glass.

Jazzy, battery-operated screw-driver from Wuerth caught everybody’s attention, while a trained worker from Durable Windows did reinforcement screwing. High-end machinery from Fenstek deftly welded the window profile. As soon as the welding was completed, Ravi Bajaj, a trader from the audience asked, “Are the welded corners cleaned manually or with the use of machines?”; “There are sophisticated machines that can clean the welded corners”, replied Sandeep Chowdhry while demonstrating the corner cleaning of the window frame using Automatic corner cleaning machine from FOM.

From reinforcement screwing to creating the shutter, and creating the frame of the window to installing the glass and finally installing it in a makeshift window cavity, the workshop was extremely detailed and covered all the aspects of fabricating uPVC sliding window. The workshop provided a hands-on experience to the audience who enthusiastically recorded the entire session using their mobile phones for their future reference. It was interesting to note that people who had travelled from small towns of the country from UP, West Bengal, and Andhra Pradesh were aware of uPVC and its advantages as an energy-efficient and corrosion resistant option. Mohammad Younis, a fabricator from UP asked an insightful question “Which is better, uPVC or Aluminium?”, which though had the potential to stir-up a stormy debate, but Sandeep Chowdhry dealt it with a chuckle replying, “Well, that is debatable, and I would say it depends on your personal preference.”

On the third day, a detailed process of an aluminium window fabrication with live demonstration by trained workers from the factory of Durable Windows was conducted. The audience participated with the same fervor; many were returning viewers from the previous day’s workshop.

Sohrab Dalal, MD, Design Plus Architecture Rajiv Gandhi, Director, DFA Kulmeet Shangari, MD, ACPL Lalit Singhal, VP - PMO, Wave Infratech Kalyan Kanji, SVP, Lotus Greens Amit Kumar, Director, Modarch Anupam Mittal, Director, Arinem Consultancy VN Chopra, VP - Materials, DLF

The event constituted of 3 concurrent fairs — 6th Zak Aluminium Extrusions Expo, 11th Zak Doors & Windows Expo, and 12th Zak Glass Technology Expo. The synchronous events ensure effective cross-pollination of ideas owing to the mutual synergies.

With the Expo’s phenomenal performance, the year 2014 ended on a happy note for the Indian glass, fenestration and aluminium industry. The event had 335 exhibitors from 18 different countries. The footfall of audience was a remarkable 18,804. SJ Singh, Chairman, GSC Glass aptly remarked, “We see qualified niche audience from all over the country.”

The Zak expo is exceptional, since it offers an organized avenue for all the industry stakeholders to come together for networking, business expansion, innovations and idea exchanges. It also provides a niche platform to learn and gain knowledge about the fenestration industry for the naïve audience, and for the advanced audience it provides sophisticated- technical information on the products and services that the exhibitors have to offer. The expo is the official industry show that is awaited equally by both the exhibitors and the audience, as it is one of its kinds and remains unparalleled till date.

Our booth was visited by serious audience who can turn into potential new customers. This show is drawing an increasingly qualified audience. We hope that the Zak Expo remains firm in its purpose, so that we can advertise our products through it. Our experience has been positive and we are happy with the audience and the exposure that we received through Zak Expo’2014.

TESTIMONIALS

We arranged many new business meetings during the show. We are showcasing some of our machinery at Windows ki Paathshala. The audience response on social media has increased during the exhibition; our Facebook page, Wuerth india got several likes on the second and the third day.

’’Sunil Maurya, Wuerth Group India

It has been a very good exhibition, people have come to our stall, and the feedback has been great. This is the first time we are exhibiting with all our product range, and see India as a promising market. We are trying to understand the Indian mindset and customize our strategy accordingly. We also just not focus on manufacturers, but also the end users, as we feel it’s important to keep their desires in mind. Zak Doors & Windows Expo provided us a platform that aligns with our strategy.

’’Teruyuki Sekine,

YKKAP Window System Development

This is a great event for us. We are showcasing our new product range. We had a grand launch for SuperSpring our latest product, with a replica cake made in SuperSpring shape. Other new products that we are showcasing are partition systems and sheet metal spiders. We invited some students studying architecture to get the feel of the fenestration industry. The footfall has been very good!

’’Rajesh Yadav,

We are exhibiting for the first time. The Zak Doors & Windows Expo opened the doors to a wider niche audience for us. Though we have 80% share in North Indian market, we got exposure in the South Indian market too through the show. We plan to book in 2015 positively.

We are getting a very positive response, and the strategy is to sign up new dealers. We secured several new leads and met the end customers as well as dealers and fabricators. The footfall has been quite good, and we will definitely participate the next year.

The experience has been exhilarating; we got more inquiries from uPVC and PVC sector, probably more than a hundred, though we belong to the aluminium sector. For aluminium extrusions, many customers visited us, mostly existing customers for upgradation of machines. We hope to convert new business. We made many new business connections. We would like to thank Zak Trade Expo for providing us this kind of a platform.

TESTIMONIALS

It is an excellent show to revive old relationships, and make new ones. Since our factories are a little away from the city, these three days at the Zak Trade Expo are a great opportunity for us to meet people; we have a lounge here where we can make new business connections, meet our competitors, our suppliers. We have been with Zak Doors & Windows Expo from its very beginning, we are part of Zak! I take personal interest in all the arrangements; because of our very long and strong association with Zak Doors & Windows Expo, we are almost the hosts and try to ensure that the exhibition is executed in a seamless fashion. Zak Doors & Windows Expo has always been a great platform for the people of fenestration industry to meet, liaise, and grow their business.

We were pleased to exhibit at the show and the experience has been good. We did make new business connections and got new business leads and we would prefer to see more niche customer for aluminium. We would like for Zak’s team to employ more strategies for promoting aluminium. Zak Expo is the official exhibition of the fenestration industry, so we will definitely continue to participate.

The shows at Zak have finally taken the best shape ever this year in 2014. There are quality visitors who are serious about the business. More so, the business community and the environment show immense commitment and maturity. Owing to the environment and Zak`s ability to organize this Trade show, the McCoy Group is focused to showcase its products here. This is the only show of its kind in India, and I am proud to be a part of the same. I personally wish the whole team of Zak for their continued success and yet grounded approach to business and the special care they show for their customers. Keep it up

I along with Mr. Farid Khan would like to express profine India Window Technology’s appreciation of the efforts that Zak’s team has made which contributed so much towards a successful ZAK Doors & Windows Expo 2014 at New Delhi. It was a real pleasure to be a part of this show as we could surely see an increase in the number of prospects. We attracted considerable amount of audience to our booth and look forward to working with you in the near future

“ Moving forth with the last Zak Expo’14, our company has received an affirmative feedback & reactions. Every visitor was ambitious to see our wide range of products. Overall this year niche participants & visitors from all over the world and the show was professionally organized. Nowadays, Indian market is more concerned about quality and technology and for that reason we are working hard and doing our best to give latest technology in India.’’

Naresh Kumar,Hegla Trading and Services

We had the best of ZAK exhibitions this year with a good number of enquiries for HEGLA RAPIDLINE cutting table, which is our latest product for this market. In spite of growing competition we have still received a good response. In coming years we would like to have more interactions with the Aluminium and uPVC suppliers as well. The publicity was more visible this year, and it shows that ZAK has done a lot of groundwork on promoting the event this time. Thanks for all your cooperation.

We got a lot of relevant visitors from not only Delhi NCR but surprisingly from Gujarat, South and other parts of the country. The footfall has been so great that we exhausted our marketing collaterals on the 2nd day of the show itself

The Zak Expo this year was interesting in terms of visitors, especially because we got niche audience; the audience is getting more specialized with every edition. We did get business and new customers. As the Indian fenestration industry is growing the show is also getting bigger and better. It is a great venue to see the business partners, build relationships, and interact with the audience. It is the trus that we share with Zak Trade Expo makes it special.
