Music magazine shot planning

This is an image I took of my main artist. I had originally wanted

to use this image as the main image for my cover page. Myplan was to cut out the background and place the image ofthe artist onto a white or plain coloured background.however after discussions with my teacher we came to theconclusion that it was un-suitable. There were a few reasonswhy it was not suitable, one being that the artist isn't facingthe camera and not enough of his face can be seen. I haveSince chosen another image where the artist is facing thecamera and he is standing in front of a plain backgroundtherefore there is no need for me to cut the image onto aplain background. I originally wanted my front cover image

tobe black and white as this is an idea i saw used on amagazine of my genre and liked. I have since changed mymind as the colouring of the image without editing is nice

andi wanted to keep it. For this reason i have used this imagefeatured for my double page spread article. I have changedthe colouring of the image to black and white and it fits in

verywell with the colour scheme of my page.

This was the second image that I wanted to have as my front

cover image, yet due to the layout of it i struggled to lay outmy cover. I liked this image as the two artists featured in theimage are showing blank facial expressions and are wearingbland, plain clothing which is found common on artistsfeaturing on magazine covers of my genre. I found it difficultto arrange my text and realised it was too far away from

usualconventions of covers. For this reason i decided once againthat this was possibly not the best choice for my magazinecover. I realised that I needed a shot of just one main artist

soas to lay it out as though it is a usual magazine of my

chosengenre. I was lucky enough to have another image that I hadtaken in this shoot which relatively fit conventions of

magazinecovers. The background colour also works well as the blackfont I had chosen to use can be read very easily.

This is the image that features in my contents page. It is animage to represent an album cover of the artist that isfeatured in my double page spread. The image is simple andis of a guitar. I took this image by resting the guitar against awhite sheet as a background. I had originally wanted animage of a full guitar however after taking this one I decidedthat I preferred it and thought it looked more as though itcould be the cover of an album rather than just an image of afull guitar. The image is quite bright as i made sure to have asmuch artificial lighting in the room as i could.
