A Time I Got In Trouble

Along time ago, In Elementary School i wanted to hang out with friends, and so i went outside with them. At the time i had been restricted to certain area’s i could go so far in West Salem. My friends i always wanted to spend time with them, and since i was in elementary school, really listened to whatever they said, and believed it. That day i was with them, and they wanted to go across the highway area, which i wasn’t allowed to go, and go over by Lloyds Speedstop. I was like a lost puppy then, so i listened to what they said, and just thought i wasn’t going to get caught. Later i realized what i had done, and didn’t want to go home. I knew my parent’s would be furious and i would get in huge trouble. Their rule was just there for safety, but i being i was little, i didn’t believe i would get in trouble for it at all. Later when i finally returned home, i remember walking inside the house and trying to avoid my parents. That never worked though, eventually my parents had found out that i had been where i was not supposed to go. I remember that was the only time i had ever actually been “grounded” in my life. I only was grounded for a day, but i had learned my lesson, and didn’t disobey what my parents set as rules anymore.

Advice From An Adult

Some advice i think an adult would give a middle school or high school aged child, is to throughout your school years, always try your hardest. During school, especially hugh school, it really affects you life after school. It is always a good thing to go to college, but if you do well in school, and get involved with the activities that your high school offers. College’s will mostly look at how you did during your high school years, and how much you got involved. Without that, it’s always hard to get into a college, or if you do, to get any scholarships to help pay for it. While you may not want to go to school any longer, college helps you in many ways in your later life, like getting jobs. Also, some more advice a adult would give you, is to never let yourself get down over something dumb, thats just a little part of your life. Most of the time, you wont even remember the little thing that happened when you were younger. Just always look at the positive things in life, and never the negative. They would also tell you to try all the little things you get chances to do throughout your life. It may only be a once in a lifetime you will get the chance to participate in the activity. Several clubs and activities in school, you will never be able to do again in your life, so you need look at everything positive, and always take your chances, you never know, you may like it!

Life In Wisconsin

Wisconsin has many small, and many large cities. We are often known to be up north, so we have unpredictable weather, especially in winters. Some of our large town would be of course, Madison, then a smaller town like West Salem. Wisconsin’s towns are expanding all the time, but we still do have a lot of country people. Something we are known for is being the “Dairy State” or where “Happy Cows” are from. We have a huge variety of people, there are farmers, then there are city people, and all the people who are in between. Any town you go to, there’s bound to be a farming family somewhere nearby, or someone who at least grew up on a farm. We have several good colleges, but our most known college would probably be the University of Wisconsin - Madison. Madison is one of our biggest, and most crowded towns we have. Its our capitol. There isn’t much space to do much, and most people drive mopeds to get back and fourth, not many people drive. Then we have very small towns, such as Bangor or West Salem, where everyone knows everyone. Driving through our country, you are almost sure to see a farm, with a run down barn, animals all over, and smell the fertilizer. Thats the true Wisconsin.

My Name

My name is Zackery, Meaning remembered by god. My parents named me Zackery because they liked the unique spelling of using the “ck” spelling instead of using the usual “ch” spelling of the name. I was never named after anyone specific in my family. Zackery has always been a common name, but i have always liked the name. I am one of the few Zackery’s that have the unique spelling, I like having my name, And would not like to change it ever. I don’t think the actual meaning of my name describes me at all. I do believe in that, but i’ve never been much of a religious person. Since all the names and forms of my name are pronounced the same, there can be much confusion when there are more then one Zackery in the same class. You never know which one the person was referring to. It can be quite frustrating with several people being named Zackery, but most people deal with hat anyways. My middle name is Shane, which i actually really like. Shane isn’t a very popular name at all anymore. You used to hear it all the time. If i were to ever change my name, i think i would change it to Shane, instead of having Zackery. I like both names, but Shane is less common, so i wouldn't be getting confused as much, on who they are talking about.

A Special Holiday

There are many different holidays, but a special holiday for most is Christmas. It is supposed to be a religious time of the year, but not many kids pay attention to that. Around christmas time, you look out side, and see the trees, brown with no leave, the bright white ground with snow covering it, the decorative christmas lights. For many christmas time is a time to celebrate. It’s just about around the end of the year. Kids wake up extra early to sneak upstairs, and see what Santa Clause has brought them. Then driving the parents nuts, and telling the kids to go back to sleep. Once everyone wakes up, you stand around the christmas tree grabbing at what Santa has brought you, just hoping for that one big toy that you’ve been wanting all year. Everyone rips their presents open, and before you know it, you have nothing left. When everyone settles down, you begin to clean up, and get ready for family to come over. You cook a huge supper, and everyone rejoice’s around the table, talking about just about anything, from family, to the weather. When the long day is finally starting to come to a end, all the kids are slowly falling asleep, while parents are cleaning up from the fun day. When the kids are finally asleep, and everyone has left, the parents are relieved that the long day is finally coming to an end. They go to bed, and the house is quiet once again. Then you repeat it all again next year!

The Big Game

The big game in track, all the days you train, as hard as you can, it’s all leading up to this one day. All those hours you have spend after school training and running, and you finally get to pay it all off. Your on the bus, with all your teammates, chanting and cheering to have a good day. The bus is extremely loud, its like your at a concert. Everyone’s adrenaline is pumping. The minute you get off the bus everyone goes to get refreshed, and the early events start warming up. You see all the teams you have to be up against, including the one that beat you last meet. Your extremely nervous, yet mad at the other team, hoping you can show them whose a better team this meet. You know you cant let your emotions get the best of you. Since you’re not in a event till later, you’re watching everyone else warm up. As you hear the announcer say “five minutes till the first event” you go over by your teammates to help encourage them. Everyone’s telling them not to worry about it, and that their up against easy people. Before you know it BANG, the gun goes off, and the runners are off. You run down to the finish line, watching your teammate, their ahead! and coming very close to finishing. They won! Now it’s your turn, you have to show them what you have. Your waiting for the gun to go off, then BAM, you’re off. You start off behind, but you know you cant let yourself get down. Your adrenaline kicks in, and you start getting ahead of everyone, before you know it, your in first and about to win the race! You win, but not by much. You just go over to the bench and sit down, you gave it everything you had, and won the race! Now your team gets to go off to state in a few weeks!

A Happy Time For Me

A happy time for me, was starting high school. Everything i have done during elementary and middle school was now leading up to high school. High school i now need to pay attention to everything, and get it together. Everything i do now, affects my later life, like getting into college. It becomes a huge part of your life. It also means that you only have four more years left of school, then you are done! Well except for college, which we all should do for our later life’s. During high school i also got my job at Rocky Rococo’s in Onalaska, so starting a job, then brought new responsibilities i had never had before. High school is when everyone finally start maturing, and gets a taste at least of what real life is like, once you leave school. Another important part of high school for me, is getting your drivers license. Once you have that, you then take on even more responsibility, you have to look out for everyone whose driving, and isn’t. You have to be safe, or else your going to get into a lot of trouble, and dig yourself a hole. I know i'm only a freshman, and still have a lot of the year to go, but so far, i’m loving high school. You have so much more freedom then we have had in any of the other schools. You feel so much more trusted in high school. You just cant break that, or you can get special privileges taken away.
