on Quality Assurance and Control for Project Managers

Short Learning Programme in

QUALITY MANAGEMENT

Quality costing is a continuous improvement tool that can significantly reduce hidden costs in projects and manufacturing. Quality costs may constitute up to 25% of company turnover and the value of quality cost implementation is measured in real return-on-investment and bottom-line profit.

Benchmarking is a methodology developed to identify best practice amongst companies, pro-cesses and products. Globally it’s recognized as one of the top 20 methodologies of future strategy development. Lessons learned is a technique employed to implement best practice, prevent re-occurrence of problems and minimize cost.

To survive in today’s competitive environment, sound quality management processes and prac-tices are non-negotiable. The Faculty of Engineering at the North-West University in collabora-tion with British International Engineers empower companies to achieve excellence in project assurance and costing by offering the following short courses:

Quality Cost Management 14 -15 April or 21 - 22 July or 13 – 14 October

Quality Benchmarking and Lessons Learned

COURSES

SHORT COURSE ON QUALITY COST MANAGEMENT:

SHORT COURSE ON QUALITY BENCHMARKING AND LESSONS LEARNED:

SHORT COURSE ON QUALITY ASSURANCE AND CONTROL IN PROJECT MANAGEMENT:

SHORT COURSE ON QUALITY CONTROL FAILURE ANALYSIS:

Quality Assurance and Control does not receive due consideration in project management. Fun-damentally a project stands on three pillars known as Time, Cost and Quality. Experience shows that time and cost are prioritized in project management, but quality assurance and control are neglected causing massive cost and schedule overruns and equipment failures. A focus on Quality Assurance and Control therefore ensures more effective project execution.

Failure analysis is a sub-discipline of material science. The atomic relationship in the structure of materials influences its macroscopic properties; and understanding the fundamental properties and characteristics of materials predicts material behaviour in engineering applications. Under-standing different failure modes allows effective failure analysis and prevents future engineering failure.

• Two full contact days of presentations by world class industry leaders.• Up to 40 hours of rich and flexible distance learning experience.• Course material.
