Subject 1.1. The following governs the conditions and terms for participation, selection of participants and granting the prizes on the occasion of the Competition (following, the “Regulations”). 1.2. The Competition is an initiative of MiCue Milano Design s.r.l. for the Milano Design Film Festival (following, ’”Promoting Body”), with the contribution of 3D Produzioni, Alessi and the SAE Institute of Milan. 1.3. Video-makers, screenwriters and all those, whether Italian or not, who intend to try their hand at an audiovisual work dedicated to Design, and who have the requisites set out by the Rules (following, the “Participant” or collectively “Participants”) can participate. 1.4. The Competition is aimed at the realization of an audiovisual work (fiction, video-clip, short film, documentary, and documentary-reportage) that lasts a maximum of 10 minutes. 2. Theme and specific objectives of the Competition Projects will be selected that investigate the eating places in the city of Milan, with particular attention to architectonic context, decor and the objects and utensil used: homes, workplaces, public places, urban and non-urban settings that reveal their adherence or lack of it to contemporary habits and the capacity or lack of it to interpret lifestyles. In particular, the projects must illustrate in documentaries, reportages or fiction how the setting and its objects influence

REGULATIONS Introduction MiCue Milano Design S.r.l. on the occasion of the 2nd Edition of the Milano Design Film Festival (MDFF) to be held 9 - 12 October 2014 is promoting a theme prize aimed at selecting original cinematographic projects supporting creativity and geared to enhancing collective sensitivity towards the culture of design and architecture, in relation to the private or public places in the city of Milan dedicated to eating food, and to the lifestyles they reveal (following, the “Competition”). 1. common habits connected to eating. From the home to a shopping centre, from green zones to markets, from company canteens to kitchens in private offices, from trattorias to fast food, from “designer” eating spots to anonymous ones where one eats alone or in company, Sunday lunch or the lunch break at work, breakfast or a frugal meal, dinner with friends or a finger food party. 3. Participation Conditions 3.1. Participation in the Competition must be open and gratis; minors are not allowed to participate. 3.2. Each Participant may compete with one Project only. 3.3. Shipment of the Project, including the Application Form and Materials, within the established dates is the only condition for participation in the Competition. 4. Causes for exclusion and incompatibility 4.1. For the purpose of the validity of participation, failure to observe the rules in the present Regulations constitutes a motive for exclusion. 4.2. Participants are forbidden contact with members of the jury and liable to the penalty of exclusion from the Competition. 5. Rules for participation in the Competition Each Participant must send his\her own project (following, the “Project”), consisting of the following:

a. the Competition application form (following, the “Application Form”), published in a downloadable version at the web site milanodesignfilmfestival.com, 3dvideo.it, alessi.it, milano.sae.edu and spaziocinema.info, containing the title of the work, personal data, addresses, a brief biography of the Participant.. The Application Form must be fully completed and have the original signature of the Participant as a sign of acceptance of the Regulations and the Privacy Policy.

b. materials specified in the following point 6.

6. Materials To participate in the Competition, the following materials must be sent (following, “Materials”):

- subject and/or treatment of the Project - max. 4 pages (1800 strokes, including spaces) - estimate of costs and a concise work plan; - possibly photos and/or researches that best represent the idea - project trailer, max 1 minute. (optional).

7. Method for sending the Project 7.1. Each Project must be sent exclusively by registered mail with advice of delivery inside a sealed envelope or parcel by Saturday, 30 August 2014 (date as postmark) to the following destination:

7.2. Mailing costs to be paid by the Participant. 7.3. The Promoting Body will not respond to Projects not received. 7.4. A Project arriving after the due date will not be admitted to the Competition. 7.5. The Project must be sent in hard copy and on digital support (CD/DVD or USB stick). 7.6. The Project, including the Materials, will not be returned. 8. Selection of Projects and granting Awards The Competition is structured in two phases: selection of Projects and awarding the prizes (following, the “Awards”). 9. Selection of Projects 9.1. A committee will make the selections from all the Projects received in terms of the Regulations (following, the “Selection Committee”). 9.2. The Selection Committee will be composed of professionals named by the Promoting Body. 9.3. The Selection Committee has the task of evaluating the Project and selecting 10 (ten) Project finalists who will have access to the phase of granting the Award by a jury (following, the “Jury”) and the public. 9.4. The Selection Committee will evaluate and choose the 10 (ten) Project finalists based on the following criteria:

- Idea: coherence among the idea proposed, the theme and the specific objectives of the Competition.

- Research: analytical capacity (problem setting and problem solving), research material quality, definition of the socio-cultural context.

- Project: proposal and development of the contestant’s idea, coherence among the idea, the theme and the specific objectives of the Competition.

- Presentation: quality of the Materials presented and their coherence in respect to the idea, the theme and the specific objectives of the Competition.

It is forbidden to propose Projects promoting specific goods or services.

9.5. By 1 September 2014 names of the competing Projects will be published on the following Internet sites: milanodesignfilmfestival.com, 3dvideo.it, alessi.it, milano.sae.edu, spaziocinema.info. 10. Granting the Awards The granting and presentation of Awards will take place after the live presentation of the 10 (ten) Projects by the respective Participants on one of the days of the 2nd edition of the Milano Design Film Festival (9-12 October 2014) at the Anteo spazioCinema, 9 Via Milazzo, Milan. 11. Awards 11.1. At the end of the presentation of the 10 Projects, two different Awards will be given. 11.2. The Jury will assign one (1) Award:

SHORT FILM MDFF Award The SHORT FILM MDFF Award consists of the contribution of audio-visual services provided by 3D Produzioni – for the realization of the Project, to be finished within 11 months of the granting of the present Award and will have an economic value equal to 15,000 euros (fifteen thousand) thanks to the contribution of Alessi S.p.A, 3D Produzioni and the Promoting Body.

11.3. In assigning the above-mentioned Awards, the Jury will evaluate the ten finalist Projects based on the following criteria:

- Idea: coherence with the theme and the specific objectives of the Competition. - Research: analytical capacity (problem setting and problem solving), research material

quality, definition of the socio-cultural context. - Project: proposal and development of the contestant’s idea, coherence among the

idea, the theme and the specific objectives of the Competition. - Presentation: quality of the Materials presented and their coherence in respect to the

idea, the theme and the specific objectives of the Competition, and the quality of the oral presentation and ability to communicate the Project.

11.4. The audience present at the cinema during the Milano Design Film Festival 2014 will choose the winning Project for the second Award by handing in a paper form:

AUDIENCE SHORT FILM Award The AUDIENCE SHORT FILM Award consists in a Study Grant contributed by the SAE Institute Milano and destined to cover entirely the cost of the tuition fees for the Course of Motion Graphics in 2015.

11.5. To the end of assigning the AUDIENCE SHORT FILM Award, the audience in the theatre will receive a sheet with the names of the finalist Projects. The audience will express its preference anonymously by ticking the appropriate box. The Project that has the greatest number of preferences will win. 11.6. The Jury has the faculty of assigning further special mention for deserving Projects.

11.7. The Awards will be consigned directly to the winners or to their delegates, who will attend the evening at their own cost. 12. Jury The members of the Jury who will determine with indisputable assessment the granting of Awards, were chosen by the Promoting Body from international experts and professionals in the audio-visual, architectural and design sectors and are as follows: Antonella Dedini, architect, curator Milano Design Film Festival Silvia Robertazzi, journalist, curator Milano Design Film Festival Porzia Bergamasco, journalist and independent curator Letizia Cariello, artist Lionello Cerri, executive director, Anteo S.p.A. Didi Gnocchi, director of 3D Produzioni Maurizio Nichetti, director, creative director of the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia – Lombardy headquarters Vincenzo Cuccia, Head of Film Department -SAE Institute Milano Patricia Urquiola, architect and designer, Alberto Zontone, architect - Studio Urquiola 13. Copyright and title on the Project 13.1. The Competition does not provide for any professional assignment or task.. Thus, no request for remuneration can be raised by Participants regarding alleged rights. Participation in the Award neither prejudices nor limits full ownership of eventual intellectual property rights of the Project. Each Participant guarantees the authorship and originality of the Project, the absence of restrictions and limitations in the realization of the Project and also that the Project does not infringe on the intellectual property of third parties, and releasing MiCue Milano Design S.r.l. from any claims whatsoever to this regard on the part of third parties. 13.2. Projects with contents that are pornographic, racist, aiming at discrimination and/or apologia for violence will not be allowed to participate. 14. Acceptance of Regulation clauses For every contestant, participation in the Competition implies unconditional acceptation of all the provisions in the present Regulation. 15. Responsible for procedure and Organizational Secretary of the Promoting Body MiCue Milano Design S.r.l. is responsible for the procedure of execution of the Competition. E-mail: [email protected]. 16. Language of the Competition The official language of the Competition is Italian. For foreigners, English will be the alternative to Italian language.

17. Information about Policy Privacy Your data will be treated in compliance with the privacy policy attached to the present Regulations. 18. Applicable Laws and Forum choice The rights and obligations that arise from the present Regulations are subject to Italian law. For any disputes not resolved amicably, the Competent Court is solely the Milan court. Milan, 11 April 2014

What data will we use We need to process the personal data furnished when the Application Form is sent and marked with an asterisk in order to manage the Competition and granting of the Awards. Confirmation of personal data with an asterisk is optional. However , lack of confirming these data leads to being excluded from the possibility of participating in the Competition. We will also use this information and the other information you provided us (following, “Your Personal Data”) for further purposes as follows. Which purposes we will use Your Personal Data for According to article 13 of the Legislative Decree no.196/03, we inform you that Your Personal Data will be processed according to the principles of correctness, transparency and good faith and only for the following purposes:

1) Administrative handling of the Competition, formation of the classifications;

2) allocation of the Awards granted;

3) promotional activities of the Competition, including its communication to the public of the names of winners, press reviews, etc.;

4) with your express consent, for marketing ends, including sending – by telephone, post, e-

mail, sms, mms – advertising or commercial communications and promotional material related to future events (for example, conferences, seminars, exhibitions) at for marketing researches, including evaluations of approval. However, your participation in the Competition is not conditional upon the above consent.

Who we will share Your Personal Data with We may share Your Personal Data with our service providers and to other third parties when that is necessary for operation of the Competition and for granting the Awards or when it is a legal obligation. A full list of such subjects will be made available following a written request addressed to the legal seat indicated below. According to the Regulations, the names of Participants who, once past the first phase of Project Selection, will compete in the Awards Granting may be made public on the following Internet sites: milanodesignfilmfestival.com, 3dvideo.it, alessi.it, milano.sae.edu, spaziocinema.info and also in the events connected to the Competition (for example, by means of the press, radio, TV, Internet). What are my rights According to article 7 of the Legislative Decree. no.196/2003, you can check or modify your choices asking for cancellation, rectification, updating of Your Personal Data at any time
