Why Euthanasia is Wrong

Is the euthanasia wrong? Yes, active euthanasia is definitely not the answer to end one's life

because it is not ethical and not lawful. Conducting this sort of murder extremely devalues human life.

Therefore, it should be against not only by God's Law but the law of the nation and the law of the

heart as well.

The sanctity of human life itself is a basic concept in most all religions and beliefs. For

instance, in Islam, all muslims believe that Allah (The God) is the Creator and the Owner of all life.

He starts human life from conception and only He will end it through natural death. The moment of

death is fixed only by our Creator. There are many verses in the final holy book, Al Quran which

emphasize these core Islamic beliefs, for example:

[ ٤:٢٩[ $ إن! الل!ه كان بكم رحيما ول تقتلوا أنفسكم ] • "Do not kill yourselves, for verily Allah has been to you most merciful" (Chapter 4, An Nisaa,

verse 29),

... بالحق1ول تقتلوا الن!فس ال!تي حر!م الل!ه إل! ...• "... take not life which Allah has made sacred ..." (Chapter 6, Al An'aam, verse 151),

[ ٢٢:٦٦[ $ إن! النسان لكفور9 وهو ال!ذي أحياكم ثم! يميتكم ثم! يحييكم ]• "...and (Allah) is the one who gave you life, then shall He ordain you to die, then shall He give

you your life again, truly mankind is ungrateful" (Chapter 22, Al Hajj, verse 66).

According to these clear Holy Scriptures: Suicide, attempted suicide, assisted suicide and euthanasia

are all prohibited in Islam. The lives of all are to be respected, whether they are an unborn child, a

born child or a person who is old, sick or disabled. There is a clear saying of the final prophet

Muhammad, which prohibits all methods of suicide, such as taking a poison, jumping from a

mountain, or by using an iron instrument. Otherwise hell is the punishment.

The European Council for Fatwa and Research has stated: "It is forbidden to end deliberately (by

intention) or to hasten the death of any person."

Dr Brian Keighley, Deputy Chairman of the BMA (British Medical Association) said,

"It is clear that doctors do not wish to play a role in assisting a patient's death. Assisting patients to die

prematurely is not part of the moral ethos or the primary goal of medicine. If the legislation were to be

changed, it would have serious negative consequences on the relationship between doctors and their

patients. " Then, what could we expect from going to doctor? Do we still believe doctor? Eventually,

there will be always hesitancy for checking to doctor.

Probably the most common point pro-euthanasia people bring up is this so-called "right to

die." But what we are talking about is not giving a right to the person who is killed, but to the person

who does the killing. In other words, euthanasia is not about the right to die. It's about the right to kill.

Euthanasia is not about giving rights to the person who dies but, instead, is about changing the law

and public policy so that doctors, relatives and others can directly and intentionally end another

person's life. People do have the power to commit suicide. Suicide and attempted suicide are not

criminalized. Suicide is a tragic, individual act. Euthanasia is not about a private act. It's about letting

one person facilitate the death of another. That is a matter of very public concern since it can lead to

tremendous abuse, exploitation and erosion of care for the most vulnerable people among us.

In closing, active euthanasia is certainly not the solution to dying because it is unethical and

illegal. I believe the reasons against euthanasia far outweigh those for it. The possibility of losing a

loved one is a terrible trade off for euthanasia. Life is a great gift from Allah and is to be cherished and

protected at all times. Thus, we eventually know why the euthanasia is wrong.
