Michael Monroe will performlive acoustic folk and jazzyreggae at StevenBe: A YarnGarage Workshop, 3448Chicago Avenue inMinneapolis on Saturday,February 6th at 7pm. Theevent will feature knitting,Michael's music, and cateringby Turtle Bread Company toraise funds for victims of therecent earthquake in Haiti. Tickets are $20.00 and areavailable at the door of StevenBe.

Michael Monroe lives in his log cabin and records his music on the NorthShore of Lake Superior in his solar powered MisTree Studio. From vinyl todigital, performing his original acoustic folk, reggae and jazz, he blends richvocals, guitars, bamboo and crystal flutes together... recycling his awardwinning music "live" using technology that's powered by creativity.

With heartfelt sincerity and a poetic touch in both the lyrics and music, Monroeexplores subtle, quiet places that spark the imagination. By Rick Mason CityPages

He performs on Seaton Acoustic Guitars made on the Gunflint Trail andrecycled from rare North Shore woods including 200 year old salvaged woodfrom the bottom of Lake Superior. The guitars have names such as SnowLeopard, Soibahn and Flamenca Del Rosa.

Monroe's soundtrack is featured on National Geographic photographer JimBrandenburg's "Chased By the Light" documentary on PBS and globally, forwhich he received several national awards as well as was shown at theToronto Enviro and New York Indie Film Fests. Monroe received a regionalEmmy for his documentary theme "Soaring On Mended Wings" and he hasshared the stage with Michael McDonald, Paul Williams, Bernie Leadon(Eagles), Kathy Mattea, Shawn Phillips etc.... Featured on MPR's MorningShow, KARE 11 and Jason Davis' ON THE ROAD, he has recorded 2 vinylsand 9 CDs using solar power with his most recent CD in 09, "LIVE at TheCedar."
