PROJECT R

1 INT. INTERROGATION ROOM – DAY – CONTINUOUS

PRESENT DAY. Inside the stark INTERROGATION ROOM of a

PRIVATE CLINIC, an 18 year old girl RALIVIA sits silentlywhilst being interrogated by a DOCTOR in his late

forties. He is dressed in an unbuttoned white laboratory

coat over a smart blue shirt. Several pens protrude from

the top of his breast-pocket and on his wedding finger he

is wearing a DISTINCTIVE RED RING. The furniture in the

room is minimalistic, the walls are white-washed and the

lighting is stark and bright. It’s an eerie setting and

every sound seems to resonate.

DOCTOR

How are you feeling todayRalivia?

RALIVIA remains motionless with a vacant expression on

her face.

DOCTOR

Has the medication helped?

RALIVIA nods, whilst staring downwards.

DOCTORWe’re here to help you Ralivia.

You do know that, don’t you?

CUT TO:

2. INT. KITCHEN – NIGHT - FLASHBACK

10 YEARS EARLIER and a YOUNG RALIVIA, (aged 8 years), is

hiding underneath a KITCHEN TABLE which is covered with a

plain white tablecloth. The room is dimly lit and Ralivia

is sitting on the floor hugging her legs towards herchest with her head placed on her knees. OFFSCREEN the

SOUND of her PARENTS SHOUTING can be heard and then the

SOUND of FOOTSTEPS as they enter the room.

CUT TO:

INT. INTERROGATION ROOM - DAY – CONTINUOUS

DOCTOR

(agitated)

Ralivia, are you listening?Did you hear what I said?



RALIVIA

(reluctantly)

Yes.

DOCTORHave you still been having

Flashbacks?

CUT TO:

INT. KITCHEN – NIGHT – FLASHBACK (CONT)

From underneath the kitchen table the MUFFLED SOUND of

her PARENTS ARGUING can be heard by the YOUNG RALIVIA.

NB: DIALOGUE NEEDED BUT SHOULD BE TREATED SO AS TO BE

INDISTINGUISHABLE ESPECIALLY AS WE DON’T WANT THE

AUDIENCE TO RECOGNIZE THE VOICE OF HER FATHER / THE

DOCTOR.

CUT TO:

INT. INTERROGATION ROOM – DAY – CONTINUOUS

A NURSE in her mid-twenties walks into the room. She is

dressed in a light-blue tunic and trousers. She iscarrying a white tray with three small plastic cups

containing MULTICOLOURED PILLS. Accompanying the pills,

there is also a cup filled with a PINK WATERBASED LIQUID.

The NURSE places the tray in front of RALIVIA’s face,

prodding her to take the contents on it.

NURSE

Time for your medication

Ralivia.

RALIVIA carefully swallows the content of each cup one byone, leaving the pink liquid till last.

NURSE

Now open your mouth. I want

to check you’ve swallowed

them this time.

RALIVIA obediently opens her mouth for the NURSE to check

that she has swallowed the medication.

NURSEGood girl!



DOCTOR

(to the nurse)

We won’t be much longer, would

you mind waiting?

The NURSE walks to a seat in the corner of the room and

sits down.

DOCTOR

(to Ralivia)

Now tell me about these

Flashbacks. What do you see?

A few moments of silence pass but RALIVIA still doesn’t

respond

CUT TO:


From beneath the kitchen table the YOUNG RALIVIA hears

the SOUND of her MOTHER’S BODY as it hits the ground.

Holding her breath not to be heard, she sees her MOTHER’S

LIFELESS HAND on the floor and moments later a POOL OF

BLOOD oozing across the kitchen floor.

CUT TO:

INT. INTERROGATION ROOM –DAY – CONTINUOUS

RALIVIA

(barely audible)

Blood...(a short beat)

Lots of blood.

DOCTOR

(getting impatient)

Is there anything else?

Who else did you see?

RALIVIA

(hesitantly)

My father.

DOCTOR

(much calmer)

You’ve never spoken of your

father before. Do you remember

what he looks like?



RALIVIA

(getting agitated)

No!

RALIVIA starts gasping for air. She’s having a panic

attack.RALIVIA

I don’t feel well.

NURSE

I should take her back

to her room.

DOCTOR

Very well. We’ll take this

up again next time Ralivia.

The NURSE escorts RALIVIA out of the room leaving the

DOCTOR alone. We see him studying his notes and

UNDERLINING the WORD “FATHER” and then subconsciously

fidgets with the DISTINCTIVE RED RING on his finger.

CUT TO:

3 INT. PRIVATE CLINIC BEDROOM – NIGHT

RALIVIA is ASLEEP in her bedroom. It’s a typical hospital

room, however one of the four walls is completely coveredin newspaper articles and post-it notes on what happened

to her mother 10 years earlier. It also seems that

another wall is beginning to be taken over by this

obsessive research. A ray of moonlight enters the room

through a gap in the blinds covering the window, falling

on RALIVIA’S FACE as she lies sleeping silently in her

bed.

CUT TO:


From beneath the kitchen table the YOUNG RALIVIA hears

the SOUND of a GUN SHOT which seems to echo and resonate

for an eternity.

A REPLAY of exactly the same scene as before with her

MOTHER’S BODY hitting the ground but this time in SLOW

MOTION. As the lifeless hand of her mother lies on the

floor just in front of RALIVIA, ANOTHER HAND appears and

removes her mother’s wedding ring. As the hand turns to

twist the ring from her finger, RALIVIA sees the sameDISTINCTIVE RED RING worn by the DOCTOR.



CUT TO:

INT. PRIVATE CLINIC BEDROOM – NIGHT (CONT)

RALIVIA’s hands clench around her duvet. Her eyes

tighten. It seems as though she’s having a NIGHTMARE.Suddenly, WAKES UP with a jolt SCREAMING.
