Money, Morality and Magizhchchi

The Buddhist position is that there is an inseparable connection between morality and happiness: What is morally good leads to happiness. What is morally bad leads to unhappiness. If we want to be happy, there are in fact two options before us: One option is to change the nature of the world to suit our desires. The other option is to change ourselves to be in harmony with the nature of the world. It is the second option, though difficult, that Buddhism adopts, because the first option is simply not possible.Buddha mentions 4 kinds of happiness derived from wealth.

1. The happiness of ownership

2. The happiness of wealth earned by right livelihood

3. The happiness derived from not being in debt

4. The happiness of sharing one's wealth

Money, Morality and Magizhchchi

Buddha also says that there are 3 types of persons found in the world. The totally blind, the one who can neither acquire wealth nor discern

right from wrong. The one who can see with one eye, the one who can acquire wealth

but cannot discern right from wrong. The one who can see with both eyes, the one with perfect sight who

can acquire wealth and also discern what is right and wrong.

So while you are busy running behind money, do pause; to check which type are you?!
