Craft: Circle Caterpillars Cut out a variety of different colored circles using construction paper. If you don’t have construction paper, use plain white paper and have your little one color it. Have your child glue all the circles that they want on their paper. (It’s always fun to see how many they will use). Next, give your child a larger circular cut-out and tell them it’s the head of the caterpillar……Where would they like to put the head on the caterpillar? Add a face and an antenna and let your child decorate the circles on the body, and there is your caterpillar!

stories. Have your little one sequence the objects that the Very Lonely Firefly

saw when it was trying to find other fireflies. See image below to print out.

Math: Big/Small Ordering Cut out the images below of the caterpillars. Have your little one place them in sequential order by size. Start with the small one first and end with the largest. If this is too difficult, have your child identify the one that is the smallest and the one that is biggest.

Science: Color Mixing with Ice Cubes This activity involves color mixing with colored ice cubes. The activity needs to be done over two days so you have time to freeze the ice cubes. It is a great way to explain to your little ones how the three primary colors of Red, Blue, and Yellow mix to make orange, green, and purple. You Will Need:

9 paper cups or an ice cube tray Water 4 small, clear or white containers Red, Blue and Yellow food coloring

1. Fill the cups about half way with water 2. Next add a few drops of Red, Blue and Yellow to the cups/ice cube tray of water and

place them in the freezer overnight 3. The next day, take the cups out of the freezer & peel the paper off the ice cubes. 4. Put the colored ice cubes into 4 small plastic containers in the following color

combinations: Container #1: 1 Red, 1 Blue, 1 Yellow Container #2: 1 Red, 1 Blue Container #3: 1 Blue, 1 Yellow Container #4: 1 Red, 1 Yellow

Set the containers out and allow the ice to melt and mix together. What colors does your child think are going to appear? You may want to record your predictions and check once the ice has melted!

Outdoor Activity: Sensory Walk Sensory walks are so much fun and allow your little ones to explore their sense of touch using their feet! All you need are some buckets/bins and materials around your house. Line the bins outside in a straight line and add different texture materials to it that are around your house. If you don’t have bins to use, take a walk outside and see how many different surfaces you can find to walk on. Have your child describe how each one feels as they experience the different textures! Suggestions for Materials:

Bubble Wrap River Rocks Shaving Cream Cold Water (you can add food coloring to it) Warm Water (you can add food coloring to it) Water Beads Grass Towel to dry off your feet

Be creative and have fun!!
