China’s optoelectronic industry plays a more and more important role

in the strategic development of electronics information industry. Optical

communications, LED, laser processing and new-type display are clearly

clarified in China’s Development Plan of the Strategic Emerging Industry.

In 1590, Z. Janssen created world’s first optical microscope.

In 1962, Nick Holonyack, a consulting engineer for General Electric Company, invented the first visible light LED.

In 1970, world’s first optical fiber was invented. The human beings info communications entered into light speed era.

In 2008, IBM first proposed “Smart Planet” concept with the hope to interconnect people, machine and data.

In 1999, China’s first optoelectronics exhibition, CIOE was established in Shenzhen.

In recent years, the consumer applications have

increasing demand for sapphire materials. In 2015,

20% of sapphire was used in Apple’s iPhone, for

the camera lens, fingerprint readers and heart rate

monitors covers, and the Apple watch’s window. The

sapphire materials have the tendency to be widely

used in non-led applications, which will greatly

promote the development of sapphire industry. In

2016, CIOE will set up a specialized event; China

Sapphire & Touch Screen Expo to present the entire

sapphire and touch screen ecosystem.

The invited astronomy professionals and experts gathered onsite to propagate the astronomical knowledge and science.

Fulldome 3D

CIOE join hands with Fulldome.pro to hold 360° fulldome 3D activity to show the new experience of digital planetarium and theaters. The activity attracts thousands of visitor onsite.

Face to Face Sourcing Meeting

In 2015, CIOE launched the 4th private sourcing meetings allowing exhibitors and buyers to meet in seclusion and discuss partnerships. Over 250 selected buyers met with exhibitors in meetings arranged at request by CIOE’s organizing committee.
