Shenhua Direct Coal Liquefaction Plant achieved a Shenhua Direct Coal Liquefaction Plant achieved a
successful start upsuccessful start up
• Coal was brought in on Dec.30, on-spec. product oil was
produced on Dec. 31 and the process was gone through
smoothly.
• The plant was Shutdown on Jan.12 according to the
schedule after running 303hrs totally in a continuous manner.

• Coal gasification and gas purification—coal
preparation, gasification, sour gas removal
• Synthetic reaction process
• Using inflammable tail gas fuel gas during
some processes
• Power supply from self supply thermal power
plant, steam and power from grid.

CO2 Emission of Coal Chemical Process
• CO2 emission is about 3~9t/t in different coal chemical
processes
• High concentration CO2 emission during gas purification is the priority to be considered in CCS
• The concentration of CO2 emitted from thermal power
plant or flue gas from combusting fuel gas is low, reclaim of them is not considered for the time being.

• CO2 emission effect evaluation should be taken into
account when environment evaluation is made for
energy and chemical project in the future
• CO2 sequestration & utilization should be taken into
account when selecting project site for energy and
chemical industry.
For example::::((((1))))For storing in CBM (which is quite difficult) or in
deep coal seam ((((2))))Considering storage in Sea or saline formations
along coastal areas besides EOR, EGR((((3))))Utilizing oil or gas field nearby– feasibility should be
taken into account apparently.
