All ShelterPro Twist-Lock Couplers are embossed (not lanced) and seams are weather-proofed to prevent moisture from entering the chimney. In addition, the 1” space between the inner/outer walls is solid packed with Mineral Wool Fiber insulation to provide superior insulating qualities, in a “slim-line” design. Solid pack design performs favorably to blanket type and air-cooled designs.

Installation

ShelterPro Class A Chimney

1 Before you begin, determine the inside diameter of your chimney. This is usually the same size (6” or 8”) as the flue collar on your wood stove or furnace.

2 Select type of installation by determining where your chimney will run. See illustrations of different installation types below.

Installation

ShelterPro Class A Chimney

Min. 3 ft.

Attic Insulation Shield

Firestop Radiation Shield (Joist Shield) must be installed when the chimney passes from a lower living space into an upper living space.Note: You must enclose all sections of the chimney when it passes through accessible living areas. ShelterPro chimney requires ONLY 2” of clearance to combustibles.

A minimum of 9” clearance from the Ceiling/Wall is required when using Double Wall Black Stove Pipe or 18” Single Wall Stove Pipe.

If the Chimney extends 5 feet or more above the roof, you must install a Universal Roof Guy Kit.

Install first Wall Band 3 feet above Wall Support, and add one Wall Band every 8 feet there after.

Tee requires a chimney length to go through the wall, and it must extend a minimum of 3” into the room.

3 Determine the number of Chimney lengths required. ShelterPro Chimney lengths are avail-

able in 36”, 24”, 18”, 12”, and 6” lengths. The chimney must extend at least 3 feet above the highest point where it passes through the roof surface and at least 2 feet higher than any part of the building within a horizontal distance of 10 feet.

NOTE: When calcu-lating the installed length of your chimney subtract 11/8” for each joint and include the height require-ments as shown in this illustration.

HEIGHT REQUIREMENTS

3’ min. 10’2’

2’3’ min.

4 Choose the proper Roof Flashing required for your installation.

To determine which Roof Flashing you require, work out the pitch of your roof.0/12 - 6/12 Roof Pitch = SHP*AAF (Low Slope)6/12 - 12/12 Roof Pitch = SHP*AF2 (Steep Slope)NOTE - for Metal Roofs use:Dead Soft Aluminum Base Flashing - SHP*TDSF

To calculate your roof pitch use two 12” rulers to mea-sure the number of inches (A) from the end of the other ruler down to the roof.

ROOF FLASHING SELECTION CHART

(A)

For example, if (A) equals 3”, then the roof pitch is 3/12.

5 Calculate the offset for Ceil-ing Support Installations.

If an offset is required to avoid rafters or other obstructions, measure the horizontal distance required and the vertical height available. Then refer to the Chimney Offset Chart in order to determine which Elbows and Chimney Lengths are required.

ShelterPro Universal Liner Kits

ShelterPro’s 2 ply 3003 Aluminum Liner can be used to vent Category 1 gas appliances with A.F.U.E. of 83% or lower.

In many cases, especially when only water heaters are vented into masonry flues, the gas appliances are vented into oversized flues. This practice may cause serious condensation and performance problems. By relining the chimney with ShelterPro Aluminum Liner you can reduce the condensation problem and improve the performance of the appliances.
