Plates and Shells assignment, Due date: April 12 1) A Z-section cantilever beam is shown in the figure. Moment load is applied to one
end (via couples applied to edges AB and CD). This is a test of behavior of Plate (Shell) elements. Investigate the compressive axial stress at the plate mid-surface at point P. The benchmark value by NAFEMS 1 standard benchmark test reports the stress to be -108 MPa. Use linear triangle and quad, parabolic triangle and quad, to compare the I-DEAS element behavior with the benchmark result.
