who ARE also 4-H members:

Families will login to FairEntry using their 4HOnline account as normal. For the member who is dual-

enrolled in 4-H and FFA, they will create their 4-H class entries just like everyone else. The youth will

create their FFA animal just as they did their 4-H animals but will designate their FFA chapter as the

FFA ONLY Families

• FFA members who are NOT 4-H

members and do not have any

family members who are in 4-H:

FFA members, not enrolled in 4-H,

will create a new FairEntry account by

clicking the hyperlink below the

BLUE button that says, “Not in 4-H

and need to create a FairEntry

account?” Follow the steps to enter

exhibitor information.

2. Step 2: Go over member information. If correct, click continue. Continue through the personal

information screens.

3. Step 3: Click “Add an Entry.” ONLY “Register another Exhibitor” if the exhibitor is an FFA member.

4. Step 4: Continue through the prompts for department, class and subclass

• Find your department and click select. For a list of departments, classes and subclasses sorted by 4-H

Project Book number, visit go.osu.edu/shelbyfairentry

• Find your Class. Click select and then choose.

Page 3: Shelby County Junior Fair Entry Instructions · Shelby County Junior Fair Entry Instructions Please read the entire guide before attempting to make your entry to ensure the process

• Select the subclass(es) you wish to enter and then click continue.

• Classes are categorized as single-entry or multi-entry. Single-entry classes (most classes) will only allow

the exhibitor to select one subclass at a time. Multi-entry classes (examples include some of our creative

arts, horses and FFA classes) will have the exhibitor check multiple subclasses at once.

6. Step 6: This step is different depending on whether the entry is non-livestock (A) or livestock (B).

A. Non-Livestock

You can now select from the

following:

• Add Another Entry IF you

need to make another entry

for yourself.

• Register another exhibitor

(another family member).

• Continue to payment if

entries are all complete.

There is not payment for

our entry process. The

balance will remain $0.00.

• Move forward through the

check-out process until you

reach the screen with the

submit button. To finalize

your entries, agree to the

rules and regulations of our

fair hit SUBMIT.

B. Livestock and Other Animals

The system will prompt you to add an animal in MOST cases (market rabbits and market poultry do not have to

add animal records). Click “Add Animal” then “Enter a New Animal Record.”

• Click the dropdown box for animal type and select the animal type associated with that project.

Page 5: Shelby County Junior Fair Entry Instructions · Shelby County Junior Fair Entry Instructions Please read the entire guide before attempting to make your entry to ensure the process

All animals must be identified with an animal name or

tag number. Market cattle - please use the tag number

assigned to your animal at tagging in January. All other

species: Please give your animal a name or number that

means something to you so that, if we call and ask for

clarification on said animal, you know which one we

are asking about. Think about how you reference that

animal in conversations at home (name, number, pen,

color, breed, etc.) and use whatever may be.

• Answer all other questions that are required

(marked by an asterisk) for your animal type.

Your entry cannot move forward without this

information!

• Click Create and Add Animal and then

Continue on the following screen.

You MAY be prompted with additional

questions and requests for files

depending on the species you are

entering. Answer all questions and

submit all files as requested. Entries

without required information or files

will be rejected!! Click continue.

For a list of what is required for each

species, see the last page of this

document.

These must be

submitted if

required! Do not

skip through and

submit without

them.

your entries, agree to the

rules and regulations of our

fair hit SUBMIT.

Other things to note about the FairEntry system:

• The system automatically saves, so you can stop at any point and return at a later time, if desired.

• DO NOT HIT SUBMIT until you have put in all the entries you wish to have reviewed at that time.

SUBMIT means you are sending it all in and you will be unable to go back in and add or change

anything until we have approved/rejected your submission. Once entries are approved/rejected, you can

go back into your exhibitor records and add more entries, but you will be unable to do so until then.

• FairEntry is mobile-device friendly!

DON’T FORGET!!!!

• FAMILY TAGGING - As in past years, the Family Tagging rule still applies (pg. 121 of the fair book).

All animals registered will be considered family animals, but must be initially registered under an

individual exhibitor’s name. If families wish to change which animal is assigned to which exhibitor at a

later date, they will turn in a Family Tagging form (applicable to all species except swine, form can be

found at go.osu.edu/shelbyforms).

• ALTERNATE ANIMAL - Refers ONLY to animals you are registering above and beyond the allotted

number of animals allowed to be registered. These animals are “alternates” in the event one becomes

sick or dies (see pg. 124 of the fair book). Attach them to any exhibitor in your family and put

ALTERNATE in the Animal Name box so we know this is the alternate animal.

• LIVESTOCK SHOWMANSHIP classes - These are now in the system so we do not have sign ups at

fair. These can be found under Department – Livestock Showmanship.

Page 7: Shelby County Junior Fair Entry Instructions · Shelby County Junior Fair Entry Instructions Please read the entire guide before attempting to make your entry to ensure the process

• MEAT PENS OF RABBITS AND POULTRY - If bringing two pens, you MUST make two separate

entries (same entry 2x). If you don’t do this, you will only be assigned one cage for two pens of animals.

• CLOVERBUDS – If Cloverbuds plan to participate in Cloverbud Share Day on Thursday of fair, we

would like for them to enter Class 403 in the FairEntry system.

• MODELING – There will no longer be a separate paper entry form. Please enter Class 400.

• PET vs. SHOW DOGS & CAVIES – If you are taking project 201D (You and Your Dog) or 215 (Cavy

Project and Record Book), be aware that there are differences in pet animals vs. show animals. Show

dogs should be entered in Department – Dogs and Class 164 while pet dogs should be entered in

Department – Special Interest and Class 44. Show cavies (who stay at the fair all week in the rabbit

barn) should be entered in Department – Rabbits and Cavies and Class 145 while pet cavies (not staying

at fair) should be entered in Department – Special Interest and Class 44.
