- SHEEZAY
BIOGRAPHY Born in a small town at Rahang, Ser-emban on 28th December 1984, this is where Sheezay (real name Shevanraj Yogaraja) began the first crucial steps in his rise to fame.
As a sheltered mother’s son, Shevan always exhibited a special quality for mu-sic, performing at every family functions, school and stage shows at the tender age of 8, with no prior music background.
Every star has to begin somewhere and for Sheezay that time came in 2006 where he was introduced to rap music by a friend. In the following year, Shevan started pursuing his interest aggressively by delving into hip hop and rap music. Additionally, Shevan made sure his mu-sic was personal to him by penning down the lyrics of each song himself. Besides, Shevan ensured the creativity of his lyris
were not compromised and took great steps to deliver his message in a cre-ative and fashionable manner. Shevan’s world changed forever through a fateful meeting with Dr Burn who immediately recognized his talent and potential. His big musical break came courtesy of Dr Burn who offered him the opportunity to record his first single titled ‘Vaigasi Maasam’ with fellow aspiring star, Sty-lomannavan in Dr Burn’s compilation album, Zurazamhaaram. This eventu-ally led to the recording of another track titled, Ennoda Vaadi, in the same album. The creative flair of Stylomanavan and Shevan led to the formation of D.I.W.A.N, which stands for one in Tamil and pas-sion in Hindi. The group’s formation was
in sync with the introduction to Kartel-hitmen Records through MC Switch. In Early October 2009, the duo released their album named Paarthu [Watchout]. The album can be considered as a mas-sive hit and brought immediate limelight to both Shevan and Stylomannavan. The song Aarambam and Vaanmanthi were chart toppers and becoming the soundtrack of the year for many music lovers. The following year, 2010, Diwan was in the nominees for AIM AWARDS for the best Malaysian Indian Album. After the huge success of DIWAN, both Stylomannavan and ShevanRaj decided
to take a break while pursuing solo proj-ects. This saw the start of Sheezay.
In late 2010, Shezzay became a part of Psycho. Unit. His first track from his much awaited Kambathu Rapper album ‘Kambathu Disco’ was featured in the 2011 compilation album, Rabbit and Friendz. This track proved to be an infec-tious hit among the younger generation Sheezay collaborated with many artists and delivered hit numbers such as Con-fusion, Unakkaga and Railu Vandi. His Kambathu Rapper album is slated to be released in Thaipusam 2011.
NOTE
I receive tons of mails daily, from my beloved fans, stating how much they adore us, PSY-CHO.unit, as their idol and role models. We really appreciate your love and support, as they are priceless and they motivate us to keep mov-ing and doing what we do best.
Most of our fans happen to be school students, and they are just as passionate as us, when it comes to making music, which we truly support, as we appreciate art as well as the people who love it.
However, we feel from the bottom of our hearts, that these students should instead focus more on their studies, while they can. Education is important as a stepping stone towards a bright future.
Imagine this: you score good grades at school, and you are entitled for scholarships, which can bear the costs for your tertiary education. This in return, would reduce the burden for your par-ents when it comes to financing your college/university course.
This is just one example of how focusing on your studies would help not only you, but also your parents whom you love so much. Apart from that, being a well-educated person would shape you to be a more responsible and suc-cessful individual in the near future. This is what every parent would be happy to see. Even my mum always wanted to see me as an aca-demical achiever. I’m proud to state that I AM A
DEGREE HOLDER ( disappointed that my dad is not here to share this happiness) , and so are my brothers at PSYCHO.unit.
Always remember the importance of education and the happiness of your beloved family, while they are still with you. I am not discouraging anyone from doing music as we need a lot of musicians in Malaysia, but be sure to excel in your studies first before you step into the music world.
Personally, i would support anyone who has talent, and i would whole-heartedly be ready to help you if i can. But please do complete you studies first, at least A DEGREE, to meet cur-rent standards. Trust me, you would feel proud of yourself, and your family would too.
ALWAYS MAKE SURE TO FULFILL YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES FIRST, THEN YOUR PAS-SION WILL FOLLOW...
We love all of our beloved brothers and sisters, and we would be proud to hear that you have completed your studies successfully. I feel it is my responsibility to share this with you.
I’m sorry if this note has offended anyone, di-rectly or indirectly.
Truly yours,Sheezay of PSYCHO.unit
