Professor Yitshak Kreiss is the Director General of the Sheba Medical Center, Tel Hashomer.For the last three decades, Professor Kreissserved in the Israel Defense Forces where he ascended from serving as a front line combat surgeon, through all levels of command, until assuming overall leadership of the Medical Corps as the Surgeon General. He is a Professor of Medicine at Tel Aviv University, and Associate Professor at the Hebrew University Faculty of Medicine. Professor Kreiss' research in health management in times of emergency is based on the humanitarian operations he led and focuses on: health management of field hospitals; leadership and ethics in times of emergency; and medical care for disaster challenges. His research has contributed significantly to the development of current concepts and approaches and is widely acknowledged as one of the insightful publications on the subject of medical relief in natural disasters.

Head, trauma and critical care surgery, Sheba medical center, Tel Hashomer, Israel

Graduated the Hebrew university school of medicine, Jerusalem and finished general surgery residency in Rambam medical center.

Trained in trauma surgery and surgical critical care at Jackson Memorial Hospital, University of Miami, Miami, Fl, USA.

A senior lecturer in general surgery in Tel Aviv University and published more than 70 peer-review articles in scientific journals.

The former chairman of the Israeli trauma society, and is one of the leaders of the national mass casualty preparedness program

Sheba medical center is a level 1 trauma center admit more than 3000 trauma patients annually, 350 of them with ISS>15. except for trauma patients the unit staff also manage general surgery patients that are in critical condition due to their primary illness (acute pancreatitis, mesenteric ischemia, intra-abdominal infection) or secondary to postoperative complications. An international non-paid fellow position is available for general surgeons. The fellow will learn the principles of trauma systems, and gain experience in operative and perioperative management of trauma and critical care surgical patients.

Director, The Infectious Diseases Research Laboratory

Dr. Ohad Gal-Mor is Director of the Infectious Diseases Research Laboratory at the Sheba Medical Center. Dr. Gal-Mor is an Assistant Professor at The Department of Clinical Microbiology and Immunology, Sackler Faculty of Medicine, Tel-Aviv University, and has authored multiple peer reviewed scientific publications, review articles, and book chapters.He is a board member of The Israel Society for Microbiology, a Council Member of the Sackler Faculty of Medicine and a member in multiple review panels of international funding agencies. The Infectious Diseases Research Laboratory is located at the Sheba Medical Center Campus in Tel-Hashomer and affiliated with the Department of Clinical Microbiology and Immunology Sackler Faculty of Medicine, Tel Aviv University. Our main research interests focus on the ubiquitous bacteria Salmonella enterica and the ways this pathogen causes diseases, including the following subjects:

1. Why and how different Salmonella enterica serovars are differ in host-specificity and clinical outcome?

2. Virulence regulation in Salmonella and its response to environmental signals.

3. Mechanisms of population dynamics and changes in serovarsprevalence at the national level.

4. The biology of invasive and persistent Salmonella infections.

We offer in-house training programs and research opportunities for students and radiation oncology residents in all theoretical and practical aspects of breast cancer radiation clinical decision making and treatment planning, including: • 3-D conformal radiation treatment planning

including field in field, IMRT and Rapid Arc Accelerated Partial Breast Irradiation (APBI)Deep Inspiration Breath Hold (DIBH) and RPM for the treatment of left sided breast cancer

• Prone Breast Treatment• CPAP mediated breast radiotherapy• Enrollment on institutional and international

breast radiation protocols including RTOG/NSABP

Dr. Ben David is the head of the breast radiation unit at the Sheba Medical Center. She is a medical and radiation Oncologist by her training and following 3 years of fellowship at the University of Michigan radiation oncology department opened the breast radiation unit at Sheba. Her research focus is genetics and breast cancer, specifically in BRCA carriers, breast cancer outcome following reconstruction of the breast as well as complementary medicine in radiation oncology. Dr. Ben-David collaborates with other institutions and is involved with multiple studies regarding the Oncologists burnout, grief reaction to patient loss and end of life management. She is deeply involved with medical student teaching and mentoring at the Sackler school of Medicine, Tel-Aviv University

Dr. Batia Weiss is the director of the Pediatric Gastroenterology Hepatologyand Nutrition Unit at Edmond & Lily Safra Children’s Hospital, Sheba Medical Center.

Dr. Weiss is a Senior Lecturer of Pediatrics at the Sackler Faculty of Medicine, Tel Aviv University, and has authored more than 80 peer reviewed scientific publications, review articles, and book chapters.Dr. Weiss is in charge of the Pediatric Gastroenterology Board Examination in Israel.

We offer in-house training program for pediatricians nurses and therapists in all theoretical and practical aspects of pediatric gastroenterology and nutrition, including: fellowship program, endoscopy, infant feeding disorders, multidisciplinary team treatment of: short bowel syndrome, functional GI disorders (constipation, encopresis, irritable bowel), early onset IBD, trachea-esophageal fistula. We specialize in weaning children from tube dependencyby an intensive unique intervention program, in a “one step method of PEG insertion”, in PEG care.We also specialize in genetics of intestinal disorders and early onset IBD.

Dr. Raanan Berger is Director of the Oncology Division at the Sheba Medical Center in Tel Hashomer, and a senior physician at the Oncology Division treating tumors in the urogenital system.His MD and PhD degrees are from Tel Aviv University and he was a postdoctoral fellow at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute at Harvard Medical School. Former secretary of the Israeli Society of Clinical Oncology and Radiotherapy.In 2007, he founded the Riva Koschitzky Oncology Clinical Research Center at Sheba, which became the largest center for all-phase oncology clinical trials in Israel. With his vision of a patient-centered approach, Dr. Berger also established the palliative care unit, which provides a comprehensive envelope of palliative treatments for cancer patients.

Being Israel’s largest oncology division, we are a center of excellence for training medical oncology and radiotherapy oncology professionals. Dr. Dganit Dinour the is Director of the Department of Nephorlogy and Hypertension and the former Head of Dialysis Unit at Sheba Medical Center. Dr Dinour is also heading the Nephrology Laboratory of Molecular Biology Research at Sheba Medical Center.Dr. Dinour is a senior lecturer at the Sackler Faculty of Medicine, Tel Aviv University, and has authored more many peer reviewed scientific publications and presented in international scientific meetings.She is the former secretary of the Israeli Society of Nephrology and Hypertension.

in Boston as a primary care physician and an

internist at Mount Auburn, a Harvard-

affiliated hospital. As Medical Director at

MACIPA, an Independent Physician

Association, she provided oversight on

quality improvement, strategy development,

and innovation. While at Harvard Medical

School, Dr. Bloch completed a 2-year

fellowship focused on innovation in

healthcare delivery and served as consultant

to several startup companies in digital

health.

The mission of the Sheba Innovation Center is to help developing and bring new technologies in the hospital and community to improve patient care. It serves as a gathering place for new ideas based on real-world needs, while enabling seamless integration between various groups. These include clinicians, innovators, startups, large corporate companies, investors, and academics. Founding Director, Lifestyle Medicine Center

Dr. Rani Polak is the founding director of both the Center of Lifestyle Medicine at Sheba Medical Center, and the Culinary Healthcare Education Fundamentals (CHEF) Coaching program at the Institute of Lifestyle Medicine, Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital, as well as a Research Associate at the Department of PM & R, Harvard Medical School. His current work is concentrated on culinary coaching, an innovative telemedicine approach which utilizes evidence-based medicine to help individuals and professionals to efficiently and cost-effectively improve nutrition through home cooking. His work has been featured in many media outlets including Scientific American, Herald Tribute, and USA Today.

Culinary Health Education Fundamentals (CHEF) Coaching is an innovative culinary medicine program which was founded by Rani Polak, at the Institute of Lifestyle Medicine, Harvard Medical School, to improve nutrition through home cooking. It combines culinary skills with coaching principles as a two-pronged approach to efficiently and cost-effectively improve nutrition through home cooking. The CHEF Coaching program has two components: research and education. The two components go together. The program studies effective methods to improve the nutrition of individuals and communities, and then immediately translates this into practice through the educational components.

Dr. Roy Beinart is the Director of Davidai Arrhythmia Center in the Heart Institute, ShbeaMedical Center.

He specializes in diagnosis and treatment of cardiac arrhythmia (Electrophysiology), pacemaker implantation, intracardiacdefibrillator (ICD) implantation, cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT), as well as simple and complex cardiac ablations.

He is a senior lecturer at the Sackler Faculty of Medicine, Tel Aviv University and the secretary of The Israeli working group of pacing and electrophysiology in the Israel Heart Society.

We offer training in pacemaker, ICD and CRT implantations, simple and complex ablations such as atypical atrial flutters ablations , pulmonary vein isolation using RF or cryoballoon techniques, VT ablations in structural abnormal hearts (in some using assist devices, e.g LVAD, Impella, ECMO), epicardialablations and CIED extractions using both mechanical tools and laser technique.

Gili Kenet is a Pediatric Hematologist, Director of the Israel National Hemophilia Center and Thrombosis Institute, Sheba Medical Center. Professor and Chair of the Amalia Biron Research Institute of Thrombosis and hemostasis at the Sackler Medical School, Tel Aviv University, also located at Sheba Medical Center.

She received her Medical Degree from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem.

Prof. Kenet is the author of over 200 peer reviewed scientific publications, review articles and book chapters. An active member of the World federation of Hemophilia, International Society of Thrombosis and Hemostasis, Israeli Society of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology, and the American Society of Hematology. An active reviewer for high impact thrombosis journals and an Editorial Board member of the HaemophiliaJournal. Chair and organizer of International congresses, former Chairperson of the Israeli Society of Thrombosis and Hemostasis and of the Pediatric and Peri-natal Hemostasis Scientific Subcommittee of ISTH. Diabetes Nurse Practitioner

Ms. Sarah (Sari) Dabahi is a Diabetes Nurse Practitioner and a member of the Advisory Board of the Israeli Ministry of Health. She is involved in a cross functional role in promoting and implementing the subject of diabetes care throughout hospitals in Israel. Served as Head Nurse of Endocrinology Clinic at Sheba Medical Center for 18 years. Since 2006 is running a national Diabetes training annually in Sheba Medical Center. Between 1997 – 1999 served as a Teacher and Clinical Leader at the Academic School of Nursing.As an expert professional Ms. Dabahi is licensed and authorized by physicians to manage comprehensive treatments for the diabetic patients by personal characteristics. As part of her job she is involved in writing cross functional protocols to establish quality measurements for improving the blood glucose values of hospitalized patients. Ms. Dabahi role includes disease management and improve of quality of life, by counseling and guiding patients, families and medical staff.

The course is intended for surgeons, at all levels of apprenticeship, including: head and neck, neurosurgery cardiothoracic, urology, plastic, orthopaedic, hand and vascular surgery. The basic course is 30-40hrs, on a one to one basis.

Participants are introduced to the surgical microscope, using basic microsurgery suturing techniques, with designated instruments. Trainees are exposed to practice on “dry” models of microsurgery as well as “hands on” living models, performing end to end, end to side and venous anastomosis in 1mm vessels, as well as nerve coaptation .

Further techniques and experimentation are offered and enabled upon request.
