AMA CHARTER

CLUB 2031

Greetings fellow SHARKS member!!!

This months SHARKBYTES is a combination of the September and

October issues.

Nature has once again provided us with a beautiful fall season , paint-

ing the countryside with various hues of reds and yellows. Associated

with this transformation are cooler temps, gusty winds and fewer day-

light hours - and soon the arrival of the white stuff!

In this issue fellow SHARKS member Tom Grotzke shares some info

and photos of several of the electric aircraft he has built.

The photos don’t do his creations justice—you must see these planes in

person in order to appreciate Toms’ building skills and to see how well

they fly.

Don’t forget the November meeting this Thursday. This months meet-

ing will be the last meeting of 2014. The next meeting won’t be held

iuntil February 2015 due to December and January holiday conflicts.

As always be safe in your travels—hope to see you at the next meeting!

Page 6 R/C IN THE NEWS

You may have noted this recent newspaper article:

Flying drones near stadium could end in jail time Washington (AP) Federal regulators say its illegal to fly drones or model air-

planes near stadiums and that violators can face up to a year in prison.

The Federal Aviation Administration posted an updated notice to pilots online

this week warning that drones and remotely controlled aircraft are included in a

prohibition on aircraft flying over sports arenas issued in response to the Sept. 11

terrorist attacks. The prior version of the notice, issued in 2009, makes no men-

tion of drones or remotely controlled aircraft.

Attorneys familiar with the notice says it’s the first time the agency has sought

to criminalize the use of drones and model planes.

Lets hope some idiot doesn’t jeopardize our hobby.

FLYING KNIGHTS OF HAMBURG ANNUAL AUCTION

The following are a few photos of the Flying Knights auction held in September. Tom

I., Theron H. and yours truly were in attendance. Many a great deal were found here

including vintage kits and built up planes—all going for very cheap amounts.
