PRODUCT OVERVIEW
The SharePoint User & Group Redirection web part provides a simple and quick way to redirect
particular users and/or users in selected SharePoint or Active Directory groups (or combinations
of groups) away from a selected page to an alternative page.
It enables the administrator to insert the web part on any page in the portal/Internet website
and configure flexible redirection rules, each applies to specific users/groups and redirects to a
different page/site.
WHY DID WE BUILD IT?
Many Extranet and Internet website require granting specific users/groups access to some pages while
restricting them from accessing other pages. Instead of displaying the “Access Denied” pages you can simply redirect certain users to their relevant pages.
Easily allow your customers & partners collaborate in your extranet environment, or allow anonymous
users access only specific pages on your Extranet.

STEP 2: CONFIGURE REDIRECTION RULES
When you open the web part’s tool pane you will see the following fields:
The tool pane allows you to create Redirection Rules; each redirection rule is a criteria that defines to
which page a set of user/s and/or group/s should be redirected to.
In run-time, the web part evaluates all the configured redirection rules according to their priority. The 1st
redirection rule that matches the current user’s credentials will be applied.

The following table describes each of the tool pane’s fields:
Field Name Explanation
Priority Type a positive integer that represents the priority of a redirection rule.
(The highest priority is 1)
In run-time rules are evaluated in order according to their priority (from
high to low).
Operator This field with the one following (“User/Groups”) enables you to define
the target users/groups to which this redirection rule will apply.
Choose “Is” if you want this rule to apply to users that are included in the
defined set of users/groups.
Choose “Is Not” if you want this rule to apply to users that are not
included in the defined set of users/groups.
Users/Groups Type a “;” delimited list of usernames and SharePoint/AD groups.
If you leave this field empty, the redirection rule will apply to all users.
Redirect to Type a valid url of a page/site to which users should be redirected.
Validate Click this button to validate the typed url. Validation does not check if
the url is available, but only checks if it is a valid http format.
You can also type a relative url.
Add redirection rule Click this button to add the new defined redirection rule to the
redirection rules grid.
Redirection rules grid This is where you can see all defined redirection rules. You can also
edit/delete selected rules.
Once you finished configuring your redirection rules, click Apply/OK buttons to save your changes.

ADMINISTRATIVE REDIRECTION BYPASS
As a site’s owner you can bypass configured redirection rules when trying to access a page by adding the
“redirect=false” parameter to the page’s querystring.
This enables the site administrator to access and edit a page even if any of the redirection rules
configured on this page apply to him.
