Application Process
Undergraduate & Intensive English
You must submit transcripts for every school you have
attended since high school, even if you want to start over
Official, original transcripts and degree certificate/diploma
(if applicable)
Must be issued by the school and arrive in a sealed
envelope
If issued in a language other than English, must be
submitted with a translation to English.
If from a U.S. or Canada school, the transcript must be
sent directly from the school to USI

IMPORTANT: If you are currently enrolled at another
university, don't send your transcript until you have grades
for everything except your final term.
TRANSFER APPLICANTS FROM CHINESE
UNIVERSITIES: Please arrange for a verification report of
your university transcript with the China Academic Degree
and Graduate Education Development Center (CDGDC) or
the China Higher Education Student Information & Career
Center (CHESICC). The report must be mailed directly to
USI Admissions by the CDGDC or CHESICC.

SAT or ACT is required only if
You are in high school or graduated high school within
the last 3 years and have less than 24 university
credits AND
Your high school is in the U.S. or you are a native
English speaker

English Proficiency exams – required only if you do not
want to start your studies in our Intensive English Program
If you do not want to do the Intensive English Program,
then you must meet one of the following
TOEFL – IBT 71
IELTS – 6.0
Cambridge English: Advanced – grade C
ELS – Level 112 completed

Copy of your passport identification page (and any
dependents you plan to bring with you)
If you are already in the U.S., a copy of your current
U.S. visa
Proof of finances for one year of study for your student
visa

Students must complete a separate scholarship application after submitting
the application for admission to the USI.
International Merit Scholarships: $500-$3,000 per year
Global Leader Scholarships: In-State Tuition Waiver (approximately
$9,500 per year)
Global Ambassador Scholarships: Provide tuition, room and board on
campus for students who are enrolled in a degree program
Randall L. Haaff International Student Scholarship: $500 per year for
up to 4 years for high achieving student
Intensive English Program Top Achiever: One-time $500 scholarship to
a student completing level 6 of the IEP and continuing into a bachelor’s
degree program
International Scholarships
Students must first apply to USI
Be a freshman
Minimum cumulative high school GPA of 3.25 on a 4 point
scale or higher
Have or plan to have a non-immigrant visa (i.e. a F-1 or J-1
student visa)
Complete the International Student Scholarship application
by March 1, 2018 for fall 2018 entry
