Dr. Sarah H.Kagan holds a primary academic appointment as Professor - Clinician Educator and is the Lucy Walker Honorary Term Professor of Gerontological Nursing. Her clinical appointment is as Clinical Nurse Specialist in the Abramson Cancer Center at the University of Pennsylvania, where she offers advanced nursing consultation to patients, their families, nurses, and physicians on matters of symptom management, psychosocial oncology, geriatric oncology, and interdisciplinary team work. Dr. Kagan's secondary faculty appointment is in the Division of Hematology: Oncology, where her particular consultative focus is on clinical researchand care of patients who have head and neck as well as other cancers and are suffering complex, cancer- related wounds and other challenging symptoms. Dr. Kagan's programme of clinical research is centered on human experience and illness, with a focus on symptom experience for older adults particularly those who have cancer. Dr. Kagan commonly examines theexperience of cancer for older adults through naturalistic, interactionist inquiry using head and neckcancer as a model to understand cancer experience in older adults.
Marie Kehoe O’ Sullivan joined HIQA in July 2012, Marie and her team have been responsible for actively supporting and enabling a culture of patient safety and quality improvement across and within the health and social care system by helping to build capability and capacity in the people providing services. This is done through the development of national standards and guidance in consultation with key stakeholders and the provision of training in quality improvement methodologies and tools in collaboration with the Institute for Healthcare Improvement. These initiatives help the system to build a culture of continuous quality improvement and patient safety. This Directorate also operates otherschemes aimed at ensuring safety and quality in the provision of services. Marie has worked in the area of Healthcare Quality Improvement for many years in the USA and Ireland. Before joining the Health Information and Quality Authority, she was as Regional GeneralManager for Quality and Patient Safety in the HSE where she led on a number of national projects.
Derry Gray became Managing Partner of BDO in June 2011, having previously been Partner andHead of BDO’s Management Consulting Department for the last 10 years. Since joining BDO in1995, Derry has led teams in projects ranging from: the Masterplan for the development of theDocklands in Dublin: to project specific planning and development projects with a number of county councils and public/ state bodies to lead business consultant for the newly planned NationalPaediatric Hospital.Derry has undertaken many Nursing Home development and financial feasibility projects and was a member of the expert group appointed by the Minister for Health, MaryHarney, to examine and recommend on resource allocation in the Health Services. The Report of theExpert Group on Resource Allocation and Financing in the Health Sector was published by theDepartment of Health in July 2010. Nursing Homes Ireland has engaged BDO to conduct independent research to shape and inform public policy in the provision and funding of long termresidential care in Ireland.
Senator Feargal Quinn is founder of Superquinn. He has made many contributions to Irish life,most prominently, chairman of An Post for 10 years. He chaired the steering committee that introduced the Leaving Cert Applied as well as Chairman of Ireland’s National St. Patrick’s Festival.Since 1993 he has been an independent member of the Seanad and is Adjunct Professor at theNational University of Ireland, Galway. Feargal is the author of “ Crowning the Customer” and of“Mind Your Own Business”. He did three series of “ Feargal Quinn’s Retail Therapy” on RTE 1 whichreached top ratings as well as the ‘Local Heroes - a Town Fights Back’ series on transforming Drogheda.On the international scene, Feargal has served on the board of the American-based Food MarketingInstitute and of CIES, the Paris - based organisation representing retail as well as President of EuroCommerce the Brussels -based retail organisation.

Appointed Minister of State for Disability, Equality, Mental Health and Older People in theDepartment of Health and Department of Justice, Equality and Defence, 10th March 2011. MinisterLynch was elected to Cork Corporation in 1985 and first elected to Dáil Eireann in 1994. She wassubsequently elected again in 2002 and has retained her seat since. Minister Lynch was a member ofthe Joint Oireachtas Committee on Health, 2007, Joint Committee on Justice, Equality, Defence andWomen's Rights 2002-2007 and member of Joint Committee on Enterprise and Small Business,2002 - May 2006.
