Business Energy

Large-scale solar projects enable energy companies to cut generation costs and de-

risk against fuel price fluctuations, and solar can also play an important role supporting

decarbonization targets for energy networks and their customers. Lightsource is

uniquely positioned to be a full-service solar and storage partner and can manage all

aspects of project development, funding and lifecycle operations in-house. We have

deep PPA structuring expertise and can offer flexible, fully-funded solutions to match

resource objectives for utilities, distribution companies, cooperatives and municipal

energy companies.

Utility Companies

Lightsource has been a pioneer in delivering large-scale floating PV projects atop

water reservoirs instead of traditional ground mounting. Floating solar generates clean

electricity while simultaneously providing unique benefits to water bodies, including

reduced evaporation and algae growth. System sizes are highly scalable and can directly

feed power to nearby operations, making it an ideal fit for water utilities and agriculture.

Floating Solar

Lightsource has an unrivaled track record in the acquisition and financing of large scale

solar projects. We offer co-development partners a flexible framework for mutually-

beneficial support, enabling them access to the expertise, resources and global scale

economies of our market-leading platform. This allows smaller players to de-risk

development investments and keep the focus on core value-creation priorities. An

independent and privately-owned company, we pride ourselves on maintaining an agile

approach to development and decision-making.

Acquisitions and Co-Development

track record set us apart from the rest of the industry.

Lightsource is independently owned and funded through

strategic debt and equity partnerships, which enable us to

develop and construct assets efficiently and quickly.

Lightsource has raised debt in both the bank and

institutional markets, including arranging over $1.4 billion in

2015. In the same year, we also issued the first ever sterling,

benchmark-size solar bond and the largest ever sterling

renewables bond, $320.0 million of placement with M&G

Investments. These achievements stand testament to the

company’s strength and aptitude in a complex and fast-

moving asset finance landscape.

We care Here at Lightsource, we take our role as an industry leader

very seriously – we wholly believe that sustainability and social

responsibility is crucial for long-term business success. Over the last

six years, we’ve crafted a set of guiding principles by which we conduct

our developments and foster our long-term relationships with local

communities, individuals and businesses. While we already have a

strong foundation in green business, we have also developed a number

of corporate and social initiatives involving our staff and community

partners, designed to advance our commitment to remaining a

conscientious corporate entity.

Solar farm honeyOur solar farms are the perfect home for

bees, secure and rich in forage, which

provides us with an excellent opportunity

to support our threatened bee population.

Keeping bees on solar farms has many

benefits. As well as involving the community

and providing valuable space for local

beekeepers, a thriving bee population boosts

pollination across the farmland, which helps

to increase biodiversity and can even benefit

food production in the surrounding fields.

The honey produced on our solar farms is

sold in local stores, with proceeds going to

local charities, as well as being purchased by

Lightsource employees, in aid of our World

Vision campaign.
