Business Energy
Large-scale solar projects enable energy companies to cut generation costs and de-
risk against fuel price fluctuations, and solar can also play an important role supporting
decarbonization targets for energy networks and their customers. Lightsource is
uniquely positioned to be a full-service solar and storage partner and can manage all
aspects of project development, funding and lifecycle operations in-house. We have
deep PPA structuring expertise and can offer flexible, fully-funded solutions to match
resource objectives for utilities, distribution companies, cooperatives and municipal
energy companies.
Utility Companies
Lightsource has been a pioneer in delivering large-scale floating PV projects atop
water reservoirs instead of traditional ground mounting. Floating solar generates clean
electricity while simultaneously providing unique benefits to water bodies, including
reduced evaporation and algae growth. System sizes are highly scalable and can directly
feed power to nearby operations, making it an ideal fit for water utilities and agriculture.
Floating Solar
Lightsource has an unrivaled track record in the acquisition and financing of large scale
solar projects. We offer co-development partners a flexible framework for mutually-
beneficial support, enabling them access to the expertise, resources and global scale
economies of our market-leading platform. This allows smaller players to de-risk
development investments and keep the focus on core value-creation priorities. An
independent and privately-owned company, we pride ourselves on maintaining an agile
approach to development and decision-making.
Acquisitions and Co-Development
Project FundingOur innovative project financing structures and $3.1 billion
track record set us apart from the rest of the industry.
Lightsource is independently owned and funded through
strategic debt and equity partnerships, which enable us to
develop and construct assets efficiently and quickly.
Lightsource has raised debt in both the bank and
institutional markets, including arranging over $1.4 billion in
2015. In the same year, we also issued the first ever sterling,
benchmark-size solar bond and the largest ever sterling
renewables bond, $320.0 million of placement with M&G
Investments. These achievements stand testament to the
company’s strength and aptitude in a complex and fast-
moving asset finance landscape.
In-house finance teams
Full funded projects
In keeping with the Lightsource hands-on
approach, we maintain a full team of structured
finance professionals in-house. Our finance
teams manage all aspects of project funding
and oversee our global relationships with banks
and institutions.
Unlike most competitors, Lightsource is not
just the developer or the financier, we’re both
– and the long-term asset owner-operator
too. Our structured finance teams manage
end-to-end project funding requirements
and continue to innovate with industry-
leading asset finance products. Fully funded
Lightsource solar solutions provide our
partners access to clean, cost-effective
electricity with no up-front capital required
and no operational disruption or risk.

We care Here at Lightsource, we take our role as an industry leader
very seriously – we wholly believe that sustainability and social
responsibility is crucial for long-term business success. Over the last
six years, we’ve crafted a set of guiding principles by which we conduct
our developments and foster our long-term relationships with local
communities, individuals and businesses. While we already have a
strong foundation in green business, we have also developed a number
of corporate and social initiatives involving our staff and community
partners, designed to advance our commitment to remaining a
conscientious corporate entity.
Solar farm honeyOur solar farms are the perfect home for
bees, secure and rich in forage, which
provides us with an excellent opportunity
to support our threatened bee population.
Keeping bees on solar farms has many
benefits. As well as involving the community
and providing valuable space for local
beekeepers, a thriving bee population boosts
pollination across the farmland, which helps
to increase biodiversity and can even benefit
food production in the surrounding fields.
The honey produced on our solar farms is
sold in local stores, with proceeds going to
local charities, as well as being purchased by
Lightsource employees, in aid of our World
Vision campaign.
North America Leadership
Global reach
Tim Derrick CEO - North America
Tim leads the Lightsource North America team, overseeing the innovative deployment of utility-scale
solar and storage solutions in the US market. He began his career at Enron Wind and GE Wind Energy
before co-founding Axio Power – a platform which developed a 1 Gigawatt (GW) pipeline of utility-scale
solar projects and was acquired by SunEdison in 2011. Tim held leadership roles at SunEdison’s North
American utility wind and solar business, as well as its energy storage division.
Katherine Ryzhaya CCO - North America
Katherine joins from Advanced Microgrid Solutions, a company she co-founded which is now a leader in
energy storage solutions for utilities and large commercial and industrial customers. During her tenure,
AMS secured 120MW in utility contracts and enterprise-level agreements with Walmart, California State
University and Shell Energy North America. Her previous positions include VP and Director of Evolution
Market’s western power desk, Principal of Energy Procurement at Pacific Gas and Electric, and finance
roles with RBC Capital Markets and UBS.
Kevin Christy COO - North America
Kevin co-founded the utility-scale PV developer Axio Power in 2007 – a platform which developed
and delivered 1 Gigawatt (GW) of solar projects and pipeline. Axio was the first utility-scale platform
acquired by SunEdison in 2011. While at SunEdison, Kevin managed the North American utility-scale
development portfolio, served in several leadership roles overseeing global O&M and asset management
teams, as well as developing next-generation commercial applications for battery energy storage.

Black Peak and Munceys, Cambridgeshire
The solar plants at neighboring Black Peak Farm and Munceys Farm sit
on approximately 260 acres of grassland in Cambridgeshire, UK and
generate enough clean energy to power 15,225 homes.
Installation began in December 2014 and included a $3.9 million 132kv
substation developed and constructed by Lightsource – one of the
first private substations ever built in the UK. The project completed and
began delivering energy to the network in March 2015.
The solar farms feature habitat enhancements designed to benefit
species in the nearby RSPB Fowlmere Reserve.

procure solar electricity is a huge benefit, not only towards lowering our carbon
footprint but reducing our operating costs and providing pricing certainty for
the future. We were delighted that even on the first day of connection, the
airport ran for 9 hours on just solar power alone.”
Alan Whiteside, Operations Director at Belfast International Airport
Belfast International Airport is the latest major
energy user to benefit from our fully-funded
solar solution. The project included $7.1 million
of investment from Lightsource and close
collaboration with the Airport’s on-site team to ensure the connection was carried
out alongside daily business activities, limiting any disruption.

and this innovative new project brings us one step closer to achieving our goal
– this is the right thing for our customers, the right thing for our stakeholders
and most importantly the right thing for the environment.”
Angus Berry, Thames Water’s Energy Manager
Europe’s biggest ever floating solar panel array has been
installed by Lightsource Renewable Energy on London’s Queen
Elizabeth II reservoir as part of Thames Water’s ambitious bid to
self-generate a third of its own energy by 2020.
Drawing on the experience from its in-house team of engineers, planners and
project managers, the company oversaw the deployment of more than 61,000
floats and 177 anchors, which provides the floating platform for the solar farm.

Bentley Motors, Crewe
$5.5MLightsource funding electricity demand
40%“We take the sustainability of our products and factory extremely seriously
and we are always looking for ways to reduce emissions and improve energy
efficiency. The panels will reduce our energy costs and help ensure that our
manufacturing operations in Crewe are efficient, sustainable and globally
competitive.”
Michael Straughan, Bentley’s Member of the Board for Manufacturing
At completion in 2013, this project was commended
as the UK’s largest rooftop commercial solar PV
array. Bentley Motors entered into an agreement
with Lightsource to procure the solar electricity
at a discounted rate for 25 years. With more than
20,000 solar and a capacity of over 5MW, the solar
installation provides up to 40% of the factory’s electricity requirements at peak
generation times - reducing CO2 usage by over 2,500 tons per year.
