Lost & Found There are a number of unclaimed items still at the church, including several pairs of eye glasses, gloves, a scarf, a toy tiger, several ball caps. These are in a basket by the front door. Also there are jackets hanging in the closet upstairs and downstairs on the coat rack. We would like to have the church clean for Easter. So if the items are not claimed by April 11, 2017, they will be taken to the Senior Center.

One Great Hour of Sharing

One Great Hour of Sharing (OGHS) is an offering that makes the love of Christ real for individuals and communities around the world who suffer the effects of natural disaster, con-flict, or severe economic hardship, and for those who serve them through gifts of money and time. Currently, OGHS committee comprises eight Christian denominations. All work in coop-eration with Church World Service, the relief, development and refugee assistance arm of the National Council of the Churches of Christ in the U.S.A. Projects are underway in more than 100 countries, including the United States and Canada. In the 1990’s, receipts exceeded $20 million annually. While specific allocations differ in each denomination, all use their One Great Hour of Sharing funds to make possible disaster, refugee assistance, development aid, and more. We will be receiving One Great Hour Sharing offering Palm Sunday, April 9!

If you would like to help with the Easter Brunch, please contact the church office (446-1444), Lynette Coleman (446-1420), or Dixie McCampbell (446-2424). Thank you! Dixie & Lynette

The meeting was called to order in the Upper Room at 5:00 pm. Debbie Awes, Moderator, appointed Pastor Chuck as Secretary pro tem. A quorum was declared. Pastor Chuck opened the meeting with prayer. The Minutes from the February 14, 2017 meeting of Council were available to all present. Skip Bratton MOVED that the Minutes be adopted. Seconded. The Motion passed. Sharon Roat gave the Financial Report. The recent Pancake Supper brought in $601.50 and served 104 adults and 8 children. Sharon reported that the Office Coordinator requested that the limit on the cash credit card be raised to $500. Sharon MOVED to raise the limit on the credit card to $500.00. Seconded. The Motion passed. The church raised $160.00 in donations from the baked bread dedicated during the March Communion service. It was reported that $2,075 has been given in memorials for Lennie Ecker. The Facilities Committee is looking into Memorial plaque for this and other church gifts. Sharon MOVED to end our relationship with Easy Tithe for on-line giving. Seconded. The concern was raised over monthly fees incurred. The Motion passed. The Stew-ardship Committee was directed to redesign cards for other methods of eGiving including bank “Bill Pay.” Shirley Quinn gave the Treasurer’s Report. We are operating within budget. Pastor Chuck presented the Pastor’s Report. The Red Lodge Ministerial is holding their annual Lenten Com-munity Worship Services. We will host these services and serve a Soup & Bread Supper on March 15th and April 5th. Dixie McCampbell is coordinating the supper on March 15th. Yvonne Jensen is coordinating the supper on April 5th. Camp Mimamagish is requesting a local church liaison to help promote the Camp. The Conference is sponsoring a round of Listening Sessions. Our Session will be held on Sunday, March 26th at Columbus Congre-gational Church (UCC) in Columbus at 2:00 pm. All are invited to come and share their thoughts on what is working (or not) with the Conference and what can be done better. The Moderator’s Report was given by Debbie Awes. A brief discussion was held concerning when the Consti-tution/Bylaws/Standing Rules were last updated and the extent of those revisions. It was MOVED by Dixie McCampbell that the Council establish an ad hoc committee to review and recommend any changes to the Consti-tution/Bylaws/Standing Rules. Seconded. The Motion was passed. It was understood by all that this would be a long term project expected to take over a year to complete. The Deacon’s Report was given by Debbie Awes. See printed Deacon’s report on file in the church office. The Facilities Management report was given by Skip Bratton. It was reported that the new contract for the pews is ready to be signed for a total cost of $23,320, which is under budget. The moderator will sign the contract at the conclusion of this meeting, and it will be sent with an advance payment tomorrow. Skip also read from the Facili-ties Management written minutes on file in the church office. A brief discussion ensued concerning the cleaning of the church. It was reported that a new volunteer cleaning schedule is in its final phases and will be presented to the congregation very soon. The new video monitor was installed in the sanctuary. A humidifier for the sanc-tuary will be installed to control humidity upon the recommendation of the Music Festival for the piano. The Christian Education report was given by Debbie Awes. The committee requested funds for a youth coordi-nator for next Fall. This would amount to $5,000, which is already currently available to the Christian Education Committee. The Stewardship & Mission report was given by Pastor Chuck. The committee was approached by a represen-tative of the Willows Assisted Care requesting the establishment of a donation box in the church to request per-sonal care items which would be given to the residents as a reward to attending/participating in their program-ming. The Committee approved such a box with reservations over the need for such a program. Shirley Quinn MOVED that the church not establish such a donation box. Seconded. The Motion passed. It is Council’s un-derstanding that the families involved have adequate means to purchase personal care items for their loved ones. No New Business was brought before the Council. No Old Business was brought before the Council. Our next meeting shall be held on April 11, 2017 at 5:00 pm in the Upper Room. There being no other business, we adjourned at 6:15 pm. Respectfully Submitted, Pastor Chuck Aurand
