SSC Mission Statement

The Shakespeare's Sister Company is dedicated to celebrating works by women. With an all-female artistic team, we plan to revive works

and highlight new pieces by literary heroines. In her literary essay

"A Room of One's Own",

our company icon,

Virginia Woolf, refers to herself as

"Shakespeare's Sister".

Ms. Woolf represents the independent thinking and free passion that our company continues to

exhibit.

Bloomsbury GroupBased on Virginia Woolf's Bloomsbury Group, the

SSC Bloomsbury Group is the our official young company.  They perform scenes that they write, based on their concepts and

visions in the world of art.  Even though artistically the SSC is primarily female, we honor the concepts of the Bloomsbury Group

and accept anyone who would like to become a member.

The SSC has three levels of Group Membership:

The Bloomsbury Players (Ages 12-18)Membership Fee: $500

The Players meet twice a week to collaborate and learn the basics of playwriting, directing, acting and rehearsing for their premiere production.  In addition, they get hands on interning experience (backstage and on-stage) working closely with the

SSC company members and staff in learning what it takes to put on a show.  Players work both as cast and crew on all of the shows to get the full experience of working

in the theater.  Members of the Bloomsbury Players will perform the SSC's third show of the season, "Freshwater: A Comedy," written by our artistic

heroine, Virginia Woolf.  It promises to be a great evening for all friends and family to enjoy!

The Bloomsbury Troupe (Ages 8-11)Membership Fee: $400

The Troupe meets twice a week to collaborate and learn the basics of playwriting, directing and acting.  They work closely with SSC company members and staff to

get the experience of working in a theater.  Members of the Bloomsbury Troupe will perform a sharing of scenes they've written for a private sharing with friends and

family.

The Bloomsbury Babes (Ages 4-7)Membership Fee: $300

The Babes meet every Saturday to explore creative drama on an imagination playground.  They work closely with SSC company members and staff to get the full creative treatment.  Members of the Bloomsbury Babes will perform a small private

sharing for friends and family. To learn more about becoming a Bloomsbury Player, please contact us at
