Abu Dhabi: Shaikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Minister, yesterday (Sunday) received separately a number of officials and discussed a variety of topics with them.

Shaikh Abdullah received Margot Wallstrom, Swedish Foreign Minister.

They discussed bilateral relations and ways to enhance cooperation in various fields in the best interests of the two friendly countries.

They also reviewed the latest developments in the Middle East, as well as a number of regional and international issues of mutual concern. Shaikh Abdullah emphasised the UAE’s keenness on boosting

relations with Sweden and building strategic partnerships which would contribute to enhance the development march between the two friendly countries.

Later, Shaikh Abdullah received Mogens Lykketoft, President of the 70th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

During the meeting, Shaikh Abdullah and Lykketoft reviewed the main issues related to the Middle East, and regional and international efforts to fight terrorism in the region.

They also exchanged views on the activities and topics to be discussed at the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, currently being hosted by Abu Dhabi and attended by nearly 33,000 participants from more than 170 countries to discuss climate change and international efforts to combat the effects of this phenomenon.

Shaikh Abdullah then received a delegation from the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).

The UN delegation was led by Stephen O’Brien, Undersecretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator.

During the meeting, the parties reviewed ways to enhance cooperation between the UAE and the UN in the humanitarian and development fields as well as the assistance provided to various countries and peoples to address severe conditions, especially those resulting on account of wars and conflicts.
