A prolific speaker and writer, Rabbi Dr. Jacob J. Schacter is university professor ofJewish History and Jewish Thought and senior scholar at the Center for the JewishFuture at Yeshiva University.
The lecture will take place online, Sunday, October 25 at 8 p.m. (following minyan) onthe shul Zoom ID.

Dementia ReimaginedAnnual Mates David and Hinna Stahl
Memorial Lecture in Bioethics

During a virtual lecture, Tia Powell, MD, will discuss the future for people with dementia and howthe COVID-19 pandemic has affected this vulnerable population. Dr. Powell is the Dr. ShoshanahTrachtenberg Frackman Chair in Biomedical Ethics and the director of the Montefiore EinsteinCenter for Bioethics, and a professor of epidemiology and psychiatry at Albert Einstein College ofMedicine. The Stahl Memorial Lecture series began in 1998 with a donation by Theodore Stahl, MD, and EvaStahl, MD, to Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. Both life-long physicians; Ted a radiologistand Eva a dermatologist, the bioethics inherent in medicine was always a topic of great interest tothem and the funds were to be used to invite top bioethicists to the medical school.
The lectureship was created in memory of Dr. Ted Stahl's parents, Mates David and Hinna Stahlwho lived through two major wars, the Holocaust and the Depression. Throughout their lifetime,they became renowned for their commitment to ethical values and appreciation of history andculture.
