Mission Study Class. An instructive and social meeting of the Mission Study Class was- held on Friday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. James Oaster, The situation in Afr.ca was discussed and the so- ciety also discussed the Negro ques- tion from the point of view of a square deal for the Negro. Other important matters of current interest were also discussed. The Mission Study Class • is one of the most active in Constable- 'ville, Sd it's members always man- age to combine pleasure With profit at its meetings. The one held on Friday evening was one of the most profitable held in its history. The refreshments and decorations were up to the high standard of ex- cellence. The class welcomed the Port Leyden and Talcottville classes, with Rev. H. E. Eades as teacher. A fine musical program was presented. The teachers of the class. Rev. C. W. Green and Mr. P. R. Mr. Beal attended the Rural and V.llage Church Conference which was held at the Utica Y. M. C. A., on Monday. Mrs. Bernholz's Funeral. The funeral of Mrs. Anthony Bern- holz w. s largely attended from St. Mary's Church on Friday morning, when a requiem mass was celebrated. Besides the pastor, Rev. James E. Joy, the Rev. Fother Fogerty of Alexan- dria Bay, N. Y., and the Rev. Father Kitts of Lafargeville, N. Y., were pres- ent. The floral tributes were many and beautiful. The body was carried to its resting place by six nephews of the deceased; Paul and Charles Schneible; Albert and Andrew Bernholz, Albert and Wil- liam Miller. A party of yojung people from this place enjoyed a straw ride to the home of Mr. and Mrs. John R. Farney and Mrs. John R. Farney and family of New Bremen, on Friday evening. A Pleasant Party. The home of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Pfaff was a scene of much merry mak- ing Saturday evening, when a party of sixty assembled at their home for a social evening. Mr. George Bardo of Beaver Falls, gave many selections on his violin with Mrs. Linns Pfaff at the piano, which all enjoyed immensely. At 12 o'clock Monday night, at her home about two miles from this vil- lage, occurred the death of Mrs. Jos- eph Pachand, after a lingering illness of tuberculosis. She was sixty-six years of aga and a highly respected resident, having resided in this vicin- ity since her b.rth. She was a mem- ber of St. Stephen's Church from where her funeral will be held at 10:30 Thursday morning. Besides her husband she leaves to survive her three daughters and one son. Insurance Settled. John Kirch, who was injured at the Howell Milk and Cream Co., station on the 25th of last November, has effect- ed a settlement with the Fidelity and Casualty Insurance Co., through the agency of Attorney F. W. Bowman of Lowville. The amount received was ?690.50. Death of Mr. Vandewalker. Word was received here Thursday from Evans Mills, of the death of Jacob Vandewalker. Mr. Vandewalk- er was for many years a resident of Belfort, where he was well and favor- ably known. Personals. One of the finest classes of boys is Class No. 6, of the M. E. Sunday School. There are about twenty-five boys from 10 to 18 years of age in the organization. They have been fortu- nate in securing teachers. Mrs. R. P. eterson was the efficient teacher .for nearly a year and the present teacher is Miss Clara Shepard, who is a talent- ed and able teacher and takes an in- terest in the class. They have month- ly meetings, one being held at the home of Garry Riggs last week. Mr. Kilnam's Lecture. Mr. John T. Kilham of Syracuse, gave one of his interesting entertain- ments in Music Hall last Friday even- ing. Mr. Kilham, who is a former Turin boy, spent several years among the Indians and during that time has gathered a large collection of Indian relics, which he shows and explains in a charming manner.
