My dear Parishioners,
Today there is good news—great news! I invite you to join
me in congratulating our Administrative Assistant, Patricia
Elguera, who became a United States Citizen at noon this
past Friday. Deacon Hilliard Lee and I attended the ceremony
representing the whole Parish of St. Paul of the Cross. It
was a marvelous experience for Patricia and for all of us. I
know that you will want to personally congratulate her; she
has been such an important part of our life over the past several
years, graciously accommodating our needs as individuals
and as a parish community, doing her very best to make sure
that the parish operates efficiently and effectively. We are
blessed to have such a versatile and competent person in our
administrative office. Congratulations, Patricia!
Becoming an American citizen today in this country such as
it is requires much courage and determination as well as a
good dose of trust in the people who make up the nation. It
requires a firm belief that the United States is a nation “of the
people, by the people, and for the people.” When new
citizens recites the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the
United States for the first time, can you imagine what goes
through their minds and touches their hearts? Perhaps those
of us who have enjoyed our citizenship from birth or for a
long time should reflect more on the meaning of each of the
words and strive harder to make them a reality in our lives
and relationships.

Tercer Domingo del Tiempo Ordinario
Queridos Hermanos,
Hay tanta gente allí que los poderosos medios no te mostrarán;
nuevas y a buscar justicia.
