Promoting sustainable developmentSustainable development has always been a central policy of Saint-Gobain PAM, from product design through to delivery.
Cast iron is a natural material which is 100% recyclable. By reducing the weight of pipe systems by one third, tripling their life expectancy over the past ten years, and adopting more ergonomic laying techniques, Saint-Gobain has reduced its energy and raw material needs while reducing its CO2 emissions. Throughout the production cycle, all the polluting emissions are filtered and the waste recycled. The environmental
impact is controlled by two laboratories: one internal, the other independent. For product shipping, emphasis is placed on more varied and energy efficient forms of transport such as train and boat. At each stage, from design to delivery, Saint-Gobain PAM is keen to promote development based on responsible and sustainable consumption and production.
Principles of conduct and action
■ professionalism■ respect for others■ integrity■ loyalty■ solidarity■ respect for regulations■ respect for environment■ respect for health and safety at work■ respect for employees’ rights
zero accidents at work

Working at Saint-Gobain PAM means following principles of conduct and action which contribute towards the development of a humane and res-ponsible company.
Beyond the management of industrial risks and their impacts on the
environment, Saint-Gobain PAM has formalised its commitments in an internal “Health, Safety and Environment charter”
which has 3 objectives:
The iron pipe systems are sustainable. In 2010, a large proportion of potable water conveyance in Paris was made up of the Saint-Gobain PAM cast iron pipes laid in 1904.

The rise of the company was founded on two principal factors: leaps in technological advancement and a strong internationalisation of its industrial and commercial development. From 1887, Saint-Gobain PAM became the principal supplier for the potable water networks in Paris. Thereafter the company’s exports grew and the first factory in Brazil was founded in 1937.The adoption of centrifugation in 1928 followed by the discovery of ductile iron at the end of the 1940s allowed for the mass production of high-quality pipes. Strengthened by its technological expertise the brand has become the global leader in the field of mains systems.Today, ever responsive to the needs of its clients, Saint-Gobain PAM is continuing its development in the same spirit of innovation, growth and industrial excellence.
