Chapter-3 CREATE SEWER NETWORK CALL OUTS FOR PLAN VIEW IN CIVIL 3D:- We need to create pipe labels to convey engineering and design information in plan or profile view. We can label any property of a pipe network, such as structure, or pipe, in plan or profile view. In plan view as per PSP standard practice (See Fig:2) typically we label structure’s (Manholes or catch basins) identification number, surface rim elevation, station, offset & side along with block, Which is represent or linked to Construction notes (description type & county standards), which is useful to Execute or construct in field. For pipes, we typically label the length of pipe along with block, Which is represent or linked to Construction notes (Description type & county standards). In profile views, we typically label the same information, as well as shown in plan view at the structure locations, But for pipes we shows length of pipe, type of pipe and slope (See Fig:3) which is useful to lay the pipe on field to meet and execute as per the engineering & design standards. We can create pipe labels while we creating the pipe network by setting up the pre created style which meets the PSP standard practice, or we can label after create the pipe network. Note: Labels are automatically update when you make changes to the pipe network (for both pipes and structures) Generally in civil 3d default template which is named as _AutoCAD Civil 3D (Metric) NCS or _AutoCAD Civil 3D (Metric) NCS gives default label style (See Fig:1) (Fig:1) for both Pipes and Structures (Manholes) in plans, but as per PSP standard practice we are not showing the call outs as default label style (See Fig:1). We are showing in a different manner for information wise (See Fig:2). You created this PDF from an application that is not licensed to print to novaPDF printer (http://www.novapdf.com)

CREATE SEWER NETWORK CALL OUTS FOR PLAN VIEW IN CIVIL 3D:-

We need to create pipe labels to convey engineering and design information in plan or profile view. Note: Labels are automatically update when you make changes to the pipe network (for both pipes and structures) Generally in civil 3d default template which is named as _AutoCAD Civil 3D (Metric) NCS or _AutoCAD Civil 3D (Metric) NCS gives default label style (See Fig:1)

(Fig:1) for both Pipes and Structures (Manholes) in plans, but as per PSP standard practice we are not showing the call outs as default label style (See Fig:1). We are showing in a different manner for information wise (See Fig:2).

Following are the standard practice to create or compose a new label style as per the PSP standard practice (See Fig:2). Each annotation labels are having two set of styles (Right side & Left Side). Standard practice to create general label (See Fig:5).

(Fig:5)

CREATE LEFT SIDE ANNOTATIONS:- (For structures in plan view) 1. Select structure or manhole in plan view, right click and add label, C3D template will

gives a default label style as we discussed beginning of this chapter (See Fig:1). 2. select the label and right click and go to option edit label style and select option

create New (See Fig:5).

(Fig:5)

3. New window will appear, at information tab specify standard or correct name of label style, Next go to dragged sate tab in dragged state component property change the display mood of label from stacked text to As composed, by clicking on the pull down Arrow.

4. In layout tab clicking on create a text component box (See Fig:6).

(Fig:6) add following components in label style:

Block (Which is represent construction call out No.) Text (Structure name, structure ID & Station) Line (Underline text data) Reference text.1 (Refer alignment to text object to get offset & side)

Pull down component field and click on delete component respectively (for

Incoming pipe and out going pipe data because we are not show the such data’s in plan view per PSP standard practice(See Fig:2).

Go to text content editor delete all data what ever it is by default show only structure name, station.

(Fig:7)

5. Click Create Text Component > add block > (See Fig:6)define pre created block in block name editor field (Which is represent or linked to Construction notes), & Change the parameters of block (See Fig:8).

By adding components per standard practice and changing the parameters as shown in illustrations you will get a standard label set style. Above standard practice and illustrations are only to create a Left side annotation label. CREATE RIGHT SIDE ANNOTATIONS:- (For structures in plan view)

1 Select structure or manhole in plan view, right click and add label, C3D template will gives a default label style as we discussed beginning of this chapter (See Fig:1).

2. select the label and right click and go to option edit label style and select option create New (See Fig:5).

By adding components per standard practice and changing the parameters as shown in illustrations you will get a standard label set style. Above standard practice and illustrations are only to create a Right side annotation label. After creating both set of labels (RHS & LHS) need to check how it will look exactly ?? It looks with a question marks(See Fig:16).

(Fig:16) what to do to get correct format of label or call out ?? select label and press ctrl+1 (property window) (See Fig:17).

(Fig:17)

In reference text objects tab refer alignment which you want to show station, offset & side by click and pull down on reference text field. (See Fig:18).

will automatically labeled all parts and structures with standard label style. The pipe network parts are labeled in the plan view (See Fig:27). Select the labels, drag and place where you want to avoid clutters (Select the label style for side), The finished drawing appears as follows (See Fig:28).

(Fig:27)

(Fig:28) Don’t forget to reference the structure label to correct alignment to get offset & side. Leaders don’t cross sewer line(pipe) also street center line.

Note:

a) Above standard practice and parameter settings are dynamically inter related to each components. Hence you are not supposed to do any implementation to the same without presence of your team leader & design technician.

b) This standard practice and settings are best fit of text height 0.10’ & 0.12’ (in layout). If you want same for the other text heights need to change only Text component parameter settings (not whole set of parameters & settings) because all components are inter related to each other.

c) Block height and Text height will update as you change drawing annotation scale. By.
